Yay, the sweater is back! All is right with the world. I love that you are prioritizing actual reading time and that you're gaining a lot out of it. That's way more important (and interesting!) than seeing a list of books read off.

I like the idea of books being in multiple videos...I pretty regularly feel differently about books in the beginning vs in the middle vs finishing them so it's definitely interesting to hear about how you feel about them during different stages of reading

I'm glad to hear that! I like having them in multiple videos for that same reason. It's interesting to hear people's thoughts as they progress through a book.

Hi, Micah. I just watched you on Steve’s channel. What a delight. I really enjoy your chats. And, your discussion about low production has REALLY got me thinking about my own videos. I’d say I do minimum editing, but still! Editing. I’ve had the channel for about a year. Yeah, I think your conversation has influenced me and I’m excited!

Both of those books sound really interesting. I might see if my library has The Sleepwalkers in, sounds fascinating. One should never stop learning right.

Absolutely agree with that! I hope you found a copy.

I appreciate your reading homework about WW1. I’m doing a similar thing after I’ve been reading a chapter a day all year of War and Peace. Now that I’m almost done, I’ve turned to the 1812 Napoleon in Moscow book because I need the history. I’m so interested!

I really love being able to have the historical context so I can enjoy the fictional takes with a better understanding. I'm so happy to hear I'm not the only one who does that! I have been wanting to read that particular Napoleon book for awhile... would you recommend it?

I love the idea of a chapter a day of a huge and/or difficult book. I have got to try that with Moby Dick (a book that has defeated me time and time again) and/or some of the Russian classics. Assuming one chapter isn't ridiculously long, I would think you could get through just about anything that way.

Thanks for checking in. I recently started "Baluta" by Daya Pawar, one of the first Dalit autobiographies published. Like you, I have frequently found myself perusing Wikipedia or Google maps to get my bearings. Not sure the latter helped much, but I find it fascinating to wander the streets of Mumbai from the safety of home.

Google Maps is a great tip! I will definitely try that out too, I bet that would be really nice to get a true visual for the surroundings and landscapes.

I just saw Banville's The Sea in a little free library and passed it up. Perhaps that was a mistake...

If you ever cross paths with another copy, I'd certainly recommend snagging it up, Hannah! I don't think you will regret it.

Hi Micha! Huge Banville fan here. His prose is luxurious as you say and his stories are thoughtfully put together. Even his crime fiction/mystery series written under the pen name Benjamin Black starring Quirke the pathologist is fantastic. Maybe check out Christine Falls. Thanks for the update and happy reading.

Thank you for the recommendations, Ryan! I'll be adding those to my TBR for 2024.

Off topic, but. Do you have any recommendations for the Russo Japanese War?
@MicahCummins

I haven't read any dedicated works on that conflict yet, although I am hoping too soon! So I don't have any recommendations at the moment, but I am hoping to get some books covering that topic soon.
