I've really been enjoying the Maude translation of Anna Karenina too. I beginning to feel like I'll be wishing it was longer by the time I'm finished!

I'm going to have to check out Elizabeth Norton. My primary historical interest has been American History. But I've also developed an interest in the Middle Ages and Tudor History thanks to Alison Wier and Dan Jones.

I’ve only heard good things about the Maudes. I read _Anna_ when young - probably in the Magarshack translation but I didn’t pay attention to those things then - but if I move into Tolstoy again (and I would like to) it would be his short stories… also “in the Maude”. 😊

I want to give his short stories more attention, I really always turn to Chekhov when I want something short, leaving Tolstoy pretty neglected I'm afraid.

… and instead of Tolstoy’s stories I’m into W&P already. 😂 I like what I’ve read of Chekhov’s stories, better than the plays, but I want to read his account of his journey to that island.

I’m really interested in Romantic Outlaws because I, too, read Frankenstein for the first time this year. I’m glad to know about this book. 😊. And, I’ll be headed to Anna Karenina starting January 1st. I’ll end my chapter-a-day reading of War & Peace on 12/31. It’s my first Tolstoy and now I need more. 😊

That is so exciting about Anna Karenina! I am reading it right now and am LOVING it! Also, I hope you really enjoy Romantic Outlaws, I thought it was amazing, and I'm really eager to re-read Frankenstein now that I have some more context!

@@MicahCummins , I'm now about 100 pages into Anna Karenina. I meant to read like a chapter or so each morning, but I find myself reading 2 or 3 chapters at a time. I'm trying to slow it down to savor it. Wow. I'm enjoying it immensely!

I was reading that translation of Dr Zhivago too. I didn’t have a huge issue with it, but I realised I have no historical context and also lack literary context to truly appreciate it so I put it back on the shelf for later. I’m reading Anna Karenina January and February 2024. I hope you are enjoying it so far 😊

I am really enjoying Anna K so far! I am happy you are joining along with us! Context might have been my issue as well, I should give it another try in the future and see how I like it after reading a bit more about the period.

Romantic Outlaws is on Hoopla, that’s good news, I haven’t used any of my tokens yet this month. But at 22 plus hours I’ll check it out on one of the last days of the year and listen In January. I had considered reading Vindication of Rights this year, but it was larger than I expected and I felt intimidated. If I have more background on her I’ll be more likely to tackle it. The tree looks great and skinny and talk fits the space!

Romantic Outlaws is pretty long, but so worth it! I was going to read Vindication as well, but didn't for the same reasons. I think later this year I will end up getting to it though. I hope you enjoy Romantic Outlaws!

Thank you! I currently have the Paperwhite Signature Edition from 2021 I believe, and the Kindle Oasis. Both are excellent, but the Paperwhite is my favorite if I had to pick just one.
