Here's an all you need breakdown of weight shift and pressure shift in the golf swing!
🔑🌪️ Milo's 5 KEYS to a Rotational Golf Swing: milolinesgolf.com/5-keys-to-u...
If you follow my channel, you'll know that I like to see pressure move, but not as much mass. Too much weight transfer in the golf swing can cause low point control issues and leads to excessive sliding and tilting. With proper stance and pressure shifts one can make best use of ground force reaction. It's important to also understand the difference between weight and pressure shifts and in this video, Henry and I will do just that. Normally I would use Swing Catalyst to show these traces, but here we used the nifty Sheftic Pressure Board (www.shefticpressureboard.com) to help demonstrate. Hope you enjoy!

Excellent. This is one of the best instructions I've seen and it has improved my ball striking considerably..more power, less effort, consistent ball flight

The 3D visualization of ground forces helps a lot. I'd love some more content on that. Seems like its always opposite of the club mass while staying on the plane of that club? Meaning a wedge would have more vertical and driver would be more horizontal?

Really good intro to a deeply complicated subject. The golf swing is a series of opposing forces and you two did a good introduction here. In some ways it's a non teachable area because the rates of change and micro management during the infinite variety of starting conditions(ie slopes etc) and desired shot characteristics are beyond comprehension. But even just understanding some sort of "standard" swing motion is helpful I'd like to think.

I've been having trouble with the weight shift during the downswing. When I attempt the squat (or sit move) and bring the club lower, keeping it behind me, I hit behind the ball. Would this most likely be a timing issue of when to squat and when to stand up during the downswing? Your videos are excellent....thanks so much!

My left hip always kicks out too far towards the ball in the backswing. Would practicing that initial pressure shift to the trail foot improve that?
@adamfisher8592

This is extremely good stuff Milo. You guys work really well together. The detailed explanations have been really helpful. I would love to see you do another video with Dr Scott Lynn and get some data of you on the new dual force plates.

Definitely shows that you want to initiate weight shift sooner than you think. Liked the DTL spiral discussion. The backward force of the trail foot you talked about--does that come from the clockwise motion of the trail foot and knee to get trail hip moving toward target and around? Henry's mike didn't seem to be working like it should!
@MiloLinesGolf
@MiloLinesGolf 2 года назад
A combination of clockwise and backwards force from the trail foot coupled with the lead foot pushing away from where the club is going.

I have seen some instructors speak, you put pressure to back heal which allows your hip to maintain the proper bend?

Great stuff! I imagine if you stood on two pieces of cardboard on top of the board we would be able to see the torque in your feet also.

Hey Milo and Henry! I've noticed in Milo's slo mo swings that he lowers his body and head in the backswing/loading phase and then he actually stands up more/his head raises after transition and through impact. I assume this has a lot to do with ground force and timing. In videos of my swing I noticed that I am doing the opposite (tall in the backswing and then I immediately drop down in transition and through impact) If you could do a video at some point on how this works that would be awesome! Thanks guys.

For me, the backswing is on peace of the golfswing but feelwise just shifts my weight to the right side, to be able to do the athletic motion the downswing. It just brings me to a position where i can throw the club. The downswing and the backswing are two feels like yin and yan. Downswing doesnt feel like rotation. If you rotate you will never come from the inside. Raise the left side up and the right side down and under. The downswing is more an upswing feelwise. The power comes from the lower body.

Im saying this b4 i watch this long! video.I made a basic see saw out of a plank and bit of broomstick handle.But i suffered with it violently twisting right in transition.I dont know if this is good or bad! but best to build a rocking board with curved rails like in video

If you spin the board 90 degrees, you can get the front back teeter totter for one foot at a time. If you had two boards you can do both at once. That's how Marcus at zen golf does it

Your shift to lead foot actually happens a lot later in the swing than you described.

Where do you feel we overcomplicated this? Many ask for us to offer detailed perspective in a simple manner. A pressure trace not simply linear, hopefully we explained that here.
