Vertical forces are essential in orientating your body in a optimal fashion for impact. They are also a huge contributor to club head sped. In this video I use a great training aid the Downshift board to increase vertical mainly under my lead foot. I call this the intensity drill and I self measure on a scale of 1-10, I rate how much I tip or press the board under my lead foot. I then measure the amount of force that feel creates on my 3D force plates.

@@SteveFurlongerGolfPerformance a follow up question if I may, when you are pressing down with the lead foot is it more a case of pressing hard from the toes rather than slamming the heel down? ATB Paul R.
@SteveFurlongerGolfPerformance
@SteveFurlongerGolfPerformance 11 месяцев назад
The press should be into the balls of the toes, we jump the highest from the forefoot.

Hey Steve. Great video. What do you need to do in order to spike the verticals earlier?
@SteveFurlongerGolfPerformance
Hi Paul, a great question. Its how quick you can ramp the forces up, not how much. The key is faster acceleration. A short fast pump into the ball of the big toe should do the trick, however always best to test it on some plates .

how does the sequence of this work alongside the recentreing and breaking forces? Ie does this short fast pump happen after the recentering as a way to break the lateral force?
@SteveFurlongerGolfPerformance
@SteveFurlongerGolfPerformance 11 месяцев назад
That would depend on how high the trail foot lateral force was. If there is a lot of lateral motion as a result of a high lateral peak there would definitely need to be some breaking force 👍🏼

What carry distance are you gaining off that 11mph?
@SteveFurlongerGolfPerformance
@SteveFurlongerGolfPerformance 2 месяца назад
approximately 2.7 yards per mph, assuming a centered strike
