Lloyd introduces the brand new Weihrauch HW110 and compares its features to those of the well established Weihrauch HW100 and the new BSA R-10SE Super Carbine
Bought my hw110 in December, from a hunting perspective it's perfection! It has not missed a beat, I actually prefer it over the hw100. It'd alot quieter, lighter + better balanced. It'd a hell of a rifle for the price! Buy one
On the "GRAND SCALE" of things I would not trust you to measure the ingredients of a fairy cake lol, But on a brighter note it was a good episode in the life and struggle of Lloyd from BAR, gawd save us.
I shouldered a 110 , a yr ago and it felt great , I’m a lefty so would go for the lefty version , probably buy a new one in the next few months cheers shane uk 🇬🇧
Nice video Lloyd. The reason for the Picatinny rail is the "dovetail" was designed for 3/4" pencil scopes, not the 1", 30mm and 34mm monstrosities of today. Some of these tacticool scopes are pushing 2lbs 50mm and even 56mm objectives. I see the Picatinny as a great addition and long overdue. Same reason Ruger 10/22 moved to drilled/tapped for Picatinny.
@@daveward4896 there really isn't much in them but the weight. If you like the lighter rifle the 110 sporter or karbine but if you like a bit of weight and a nice wood look then the 100 in any of its guises. To be totally honest I preferred the airarms S510. I had the ultimate sporter laminated one. I thought it was more consistent and less pellet fussy than the HW's but too heavy for me which was a shame. I then bought an FX Wildcat in .177 which was ace but only 8 shots per mag but twice the shots per fill. Hope I didn't bore you with all that but whichever of the above mentioned guns you won't go wrong in MY opinion 😀👍👍
I only have the BSA R10 SE TH with a Nikko Stirling Diamond FFP 4-16 x 44 on top, but I'm perfectly happy with it. I did once have a Weihrauch HW100K in 0.22 until some nameless &*^%$ burgled my house and made away with that and my old BSA R10 Mk 2 0.177. I was quite happy with the Weihrauch, too. BSA and Weihrauch both make some superb rifles.
I have recently bought both the R10 se and the 110 , both are excellent guns both Uber accurate . Lovin the 110 ballistic polymer parts it’s a technological advancement it will not rot or rust out and will more than likely outlive the 100 !
I've just bought the R10 SE supercarbine as I don't think I'm going to get my Impact this year and its really nice to shoot but I'm going to get it cerakoted as I really think the 5 shades of black will really do my OCD no favours .
Lloyd Schober I'd be the same Lloyd! Must pop into the shop for a brew and have a look at the gun racks. Looks like you've got some cracking bits of kit in stock
is the picatiny rail plastic like the block on the 110? if so maybe dovetails were too delicate of a mounting system for plastic thats why they went with picatiny?
Just bought the HW110 from yourselves in .177, my first PCP, love it nice tight grouping once I'd zeroed in the new scope, (also bought from yourselves), love Weihrauch's in general, including my HW97K bought secondhand, from where you might ask, also from yourselves. Only gripe is it cost me £669.95 and not the £645 I expected, but couldn't get a .177 anywhere else on the day, no doubt I'll still buy from you again, great shop, just a shame about the extra £24.95, should have asked why I suppose but I was just grateful to get the gun I wanted :-)
I can honestly say the hw110 is one amazing gun. I own one in .177 calibre.... accuracy beyond belief in the hands if an average shooter ( me....very average...polite way to say rubbish shot lol ) I've heard that there nay have been power issues....mine us perfect.... not pellet fussy. it likes jsb 8.4 red superfield 8.4 and superdome ... busker mags and jsb heavies .... running it with a nikko Panamax 4.5-14 x50. AO... PERFECT OUT TO 70 METRES
Excellent DaveMac. They have proven to be popular, accurate and reliable. Not heard of any leak issues and our customers don't seem to have had any issues at all :)
dont put your shooting abilitys down 90%of making the shot is in your head so tell yourself your great your going to hit spot on target and you will my shooting instructor at my first ever club told me that
i was thinking the same thing, the new day/night one that has the built in range finder and video. did you gat the 22 or 177 jas, i would have been tempted if a 25 was available
Picatinny = regular standardised slots for easy on/off for qr scope mounts with no zero shift. Weaver = slots not guaranteed regular. Benefit of picatinny = swap between scopes or other sighting systems e.g. red dot, ghost ring etc without adjustment. 😁
The scope rail is plastic so an 11mm would be a bit delicate. Also the American market is more familiar with weaver bases. As a side note- Burris makes various ring heights with plastic inserts which "gimbal" about in the rings- this protects your incredibly expensive scopes from damage as you switch them from one arm to another. (Also corrects alignment problems (common in firearms) with two piece bases)
What does everyone think of the hw110 i know it had teething issues when 1st came out but surely these now have been addressed? Fancy a stk for my light setup
Great review as always Lloyd, having had the "movement" issues on the 100, I would really like to try the 110, but that said, I like the look of the R10 se, saving pennies time I guess.
Ahh, so it was you ! Hard choice Robert. As you can tell from the video, I was in two minds myself which I'd buy . The SE is lovely though , so I'd rather like both .
Good Honest reporting, got both HW110 and HW100 both have their place in our community, both very accurate, but do not like the mag loading lever, which makes loading the mag fiddly. Keep up the good reviews, leave the scales at home
Thanks Lloyd, keep up the good work. I only mentioned the regulator situation as I had just read it in Terry Doe's Editors foreword in AGW. However HW's website even mention that the 110 is regulated ??? When's the new studio coming on line ? Matt W :)
Hope all airguns go over to Picatiny it means I don't have to change mounts when I swap my NV setup and scopes from my other rifle types to my air rifles !
i shoot ft and the only r10 varient i want is the goldstar shot one recently and that air stripper really does its job and that stocks stunning in red white and blue 😍😍😍
Very interesting video. I'm new to air gunning and videos like yours help me in deciding on what PCP's to consider. Since I live in the USA power is a very important to me as is shot count. Weight is also of importance. It appears what I've seen in the video I'm favoring the BSA R 10 SE.
Picatiny rail is mainly menth for hi-recoil guns...pcp has no recoil...so it can only be for estetic reason to place a picatiny on a pcp...some look great with it..some dont, same as some people like/love them, some dont,up to the folks to discide wheter they take it :-)
Yes, it might cost the manufacturer less , but there are a couple of things we gain too...lighter weight and a cheaper gun with regards to the plastics.
The only real benefit I can see is lighter weight and reduced production costs which is why the 110 is £100 less. I personally would rather pay the extra for metal and wood but its probably something we will have to get used to .
Gerald Swain The stock is wood, its just then been covered in the grippy black plastic. Ballistic polymer is what is used in a Glock so its an insanely strong block.
I used to like to use a reflex red dot for rabbit and they were all 20mm picrail a good quality red dot is pricy but fantastic hunt with it and they are so small and light it is no different than just iron sights. this hw110 make me want to take up shooting again I started looking at airgun content again after a long break and the only gun that has held my interst is this one i don't know why it is plastic coated wood would a purely synthetetic stock be better for weight next generation perhaps
The overall reason for weaver vs. dovetail is the extra adge givin to scope manufacturers. This way these hi tech scopes are suitable for powder burners aswell It’s the universal language I guess you could say
The 110 felt great to me when I shouldered one ,size feel of the rubber , plastic , felt well made and quality, and quieter than a Mouse doing a silent fart, don’t think yourll be dissatisfied in the least ,, cheers Shane uk 🇬🇧, ps gonna buy one my self in 2 months all being well
Oh at I am a left handed, and the cocking lever on the right makes no difference to me or what side the mag goes in,, just when the tossers keep making the stock right handed then I’m knackered cheers Shane uk 🇬🇧
I agree why the butt stock has to have a bladed top to cut your cheek if you are left handed? this is the reason I didnt go for air arms TX200 gun and chose Wiehrauch HW 97 because my son is left handed
Hi Lloyd, just got a query mate, can the Hw110 be decocked ? I've owned this rifle for some time now and I've always dry fired when unloading. But I don't want to attempt to decock and possibly do damage unless I'm 100% sure so I thought I'd ask someone with a wide spectrum of knowledge on these subjects.
You can de-cock the Hw110 ( without the mag in it otherwise you will double load ) Push the cocking lever about half way forward and pull the trigger ...voila !
You are not the only one who doesn't like the name print on the air cylinder of the 110, it's an air rifle for flaques sake, not a pack of washing powder. Will affect sales, I'm sure.
I always enjoy your videos Lloyd. However Airgun World May 2016 stated that the HW110 wasn't regulated....it has a self regulating valve. Apparently Hans Weihrauch insisted that this info be published as AGW in their previous review had incorrectly stated that the HW110 was regulated. I hope this helps :)
Hi Matt. The Hw100 has a shim stack style regulator . I checked with the importer Hull Cartridge and they watched the video and said Weihrauch call it an Air measuring system, which is also known as an air regulator or regulator. They didn't feel I had mis-represented the system in any way and are happy for my description to stand. I will though contact Weihrauch directly and ask them if I should make any alterations to my description
HI Lioyd Great video mate the 110 looks the part, the silver bits are not for me, but the rifle does look the biz, The new BSA R10 SE have they changed the silencer is it still a screw on and will it fit the NON SE R10? MY HW100 LAMINATE is performing superb. Once again mate GREAT VIDEO AND LOVED THE ENDING!! CHRIS.
All the Hw100's are based on the same action . There is a short and a long version but ultimately they all perform almost identically apart from the weight and number of shots .. They are all good :)
The BSA looks a Great rifle , Although the Black bottle has never really done it for me , Like the Rapid 7 , Works great but the bottle ruins the looks at the front .... I'm with you on the " Plastic " ... I don't like that at all , Recycled milk bottles comes to mind 🤨 .... Ide take the HW-100 out of them all though , Although , I've still got my 1995 HW-80 and it still takes some beating ... I like your Honest approach , Tell it how it is , Even if people don't like hearing it in our Snowflake society , It's a breath of fresh air ..... Keep it up 👍👍👍
Well done once again llyod. I woulda had the same problem, good thing nobody is perfect. Hey I would love to get an atriums p-15 in .25 cal. Any chances that you could help another air gunner that lives half way around the world away?? Your real ness is the big seller....... we’ll , that and all your nice guns lol
Hi Chris. I'd help but we have stopped exporting at present and also we don't sell the Artemis because we won't deal with the importers, had bad experiences with them. Sorry :(
I was going to buy the weihrauch HW 110 but I decide to buy the hw100 for extra 100 quad I much prefer that hw100 it's the best gun I ever owned out all of my air rifles I had, weihrauch hw100 all the way for me.
Sorry if I sound thick been a while since I had a rife but if you put a full scope block on the hw100 would it not lock things in place and align the two blocks up, I watched a Sniper Video saying it helps with rigidity and harmonics of the barrel.... coming for a hw100 Laminated soon I`ll call fist to make sure you have one in, best wishes Barry.
Yes it would Barry although I have never suffered from the issue and never had a complaint in the shop about alignment or movement. Simplest solution is put a 1pce mount on it to bridge the gap :)
