That sword is from the Predaking Upgrade kit by DNA Design, except the hilt turns into 2 pick axes instead of 2 daggers and a mace. That's why it scales to Predaking so well.
On "Strafe" you can rotate the crotch section with the small gray wings to the back. The instructions don't show it but it does unclip from th front. Also, the small sword fits inside the big sword.
Have you seen the Defensor-ish combiner Wei Jiang made? The "Fire Rescue Corps" set released under the "Century of Deformation" label, also used for their re-engineered partly-metal Movie knockoffs.
Looks like on Strafe, the "heel" parts are actually the whole foot, and the flap you use as the foot is more like a foot guard. So fold the whole heel assembly down and make a complete foot out of it. Might help make the legs seem longer compared to the arms. Also, that gestalt sword would go really really well with the POTP dinobots, better than the weapons they came with.
Great combiner mode and great review thanks for sharing this with us Baltmatrix and keep up with the great work you do and as always transform and roll out 😀😊
This set looks pretty amazing! Are we sure that that sword wasn’t made for Predaking? This sword looks amazing in his hands! I really want to invest in this guy!
I got my set (the all white one). It's fantastic but despite the 3 hand written notes that warned me about fragile parts, I still managed to ham-hand "Lightspeed" and drop it on the hard floor. This made his arm snap off at the right shoulder. It took all morning and all my modding skills bro give him a new shoulder joint while keeping him fully transformable. I succeeded but man! This thing may be glorious, but it's *fragile.*
This looks like a fun set to paint, because of the simplicity of the transformations it's less liable to paint chipping, and because it's relatively cheap i wouldn't mind doing physical modifications
true. maybe making a ball joint out of resin where the mushroom peg is would work, it looks like thered be enough space for it without affecting the overall sculpt, it'd be a little limited though
It absolutely IS the V2 Batmobile from The Batman. I noticed that right away. While straight car ripoff...still makes ya wanna see it Transform from it's original colors with a straight Bat motif.
I got mine, a couple of days ago! I really like this figure! I took the lack of paint apps, as a challenge to do my own touch-ups. So far, I've been having lots of fun, personalizing my set. I painted faces, panel-lined them, and added decals. Well worth the $70, I paid for it, despite some minor engineering flaws.
I agree with you. The combined sword is awesome. I will always love it whenever a combiner has the weapons of their parts also combine to form a bigger weapon. And for some strange reason that sword also reminds me of Cloud's Fusion Sword(or Gattai Ken(Combined Sword) in Japanese) from FF VII and FF VII despite the two swords being completely different in how they combine and how they look in appearance. It's definitely a very cool sword. My only problem with it is the fact that the small black sword that the one bot has isn't included in the transformation and the front jet gun from the same bot is not included in the combiner. Either way I still absolutely love this figure set despite the obvious problems that it has. The sword alone sells it for me.
Well I just got one. I can see what the instructions are getting at with the combined mode inner shoulder now. The arms of the car-upper torso small robot need to be extended at the shoulder until they lock then tilted back this allow the kibble to sit more flush and the flaps on the arms to nessel properly under the rockets in the lowered position the shoulder guns also sit lower too. If you don't extend Wind Flame / Lightspeed's arms until they lock before trying to make the torso then nothing fits. Another tip is pull the toes out before putting it in torso mode then push them back once you are done as the sliders they mount on slightly get in the way when trying to lock the wing mirrors in - pulling the feet/toes out allows the inner knee joint to fold up on itself without hitting anything then. Since his arms are quite long in combined mode if you want the robot to look more proportionate or you want it to scale with a taller robot you can leave Strafe's legs extended and this balances the look better with the arms then. I personally like to leave the middle section of Strafe's (Critical Strike)'s nose cone in place and just flip the tip back behind his back. But if you don't do that there is a screw hole there you 'might' be able to store the gun on. One last though is that the side panels on the left combined mode foot (on the drill tank) if you flip down make a 3 clawed foot and balance the appearance better too. Oh and I don't recommend combining the sword unless you never want to get it to pieces again it's clear plastic and to tight - that is never coming apart again EVER. It looks like they removed some pieces from the design last minute and replaced them with the Predaking style sword as earlier shots show the vehicles with weapons - and I got to wondering perhaps those weapons were designed to combine and that is why he can't hold his own gun especially well - as some pieces are missing.
When the camera finally went up to reveal the rest of the Red Car's bot mode,I was like ooh wee that's oogly..but I have seen worse That combined mode is cool, reminds me sorta of the Takara Brave combiners
WOAH! They were just "inspired" by Computron but instead of doing what everyone does, they did their own thing! It's like a Tobot/Transformers/superSentai hybrid. I like it a lot! I was lucky enough to find the all white and red version for just US69$ shipped! Well worth that price I think.
Nosecone looks good in both forms. Afterbunner's vehicle mode and head look a little weird. Lightspeed isn't bad, but his vehicle mode could pass as a batmobile if painted black. Both Stryfe and Scattershot's vehicle modes look good. Love the combined mode.
Honestly I get get this set and send it to a customizer and get it painted accurately and get some better weapons from shapeway toys. Looks pretty nice for display
Pros: -Undisputed quality/prize balance. -All molds are original, no knock off nor remolds. -Some die cast parts. -No parts forming for the combined mode, all parts of Computron are included within the Technobots. -Cool weapon for the combined mode. -All figures have similar height, there is not a big robot sorrounded by smaller ones. Cons: -Already mentioned in the video.
THANK YOU, SPADA!! I saw the grey prototypes of these guys and got really excited, as Computron is my favorite combiner. Been wanting to see how they look in hand. Though sweet jesus I hope they re-release them in less Big Lots clearance lookin' colors.
I am about to get mine soon and Im seriously considering painting Afterburn in yellow/orange/ish . Even though the blue look pretty neat I still would preffer the original orange tone on that one only, the resto of them look fine to me. But Im afraid I will screw the figure once painted and it will not match well the rest
I got questions though, aren't the combined arms miss transformed? They are surprisingly long. Should it not be in vehicle mode when going combiner, where the hip joins become actual elbows? Could it no be pushed in?
If Strafe looks like Swoop, then Nosecone reminds me of Slug. I can see some retooling done for the Dinobots with Lightspeed as Snarl and Afterburner as Sludge.
35:45 The mirrors are the weak spot of this red car: Wind Flame. One of the mirrors broke off after three times building Calculation King. It would be better they found a solution for that. Although i know they were seized a few weeks ago.
You know I kind of like this take cuz it kind of gives this combiner more of a uniqueness with the way it combines since the original has always been plan to me so I think giving it a different combination style will make it less Bland
Can the dril half behind the head of nosecone rotate? Since on AliExpress it is shown like that and i think looks honestly good! Do you want a link for people so they can have an option for it?
This looks really fun, I think the idea is better than the execution itself, but there is potential. I find it kinda hard to see these as the Technobots, but their designs are amazing.
This set exists. Me: 🎵 I never knew that you exist before but I Love You 🎵 GodDAMN I wish I'd heard of this back when I could afford stuff. Even if it ain't perfect, WeiJiang had a great track record with me, and I bet it was surprisingly affordable for an unofficial but fairly original bit of design.
Curious, what is the quality of the plastic like? I'm considering the set but I don't want to get it if the plastic is weak like say the os predaking set
Hey Balt! Please review the Wei Jiang Skysoarer? It's supposed to be a better version of the POTP Predaking. Thanks! PS: love the intro music, throwback from when you were starting out!
