There's actually a sitcom that does the Dementia grandma who can't recognize their grandson. There's an episode of Raising Hope where Maw Maw mistakes Jimmy for her late husband, so to not crush her spirit, Jimmy plays along and lets her spend time with her late husband. It was a really weird episode.
I thought the way they dealt with dementia in that show was really very sweet, although I’ve not watched it since it came out so maybe I’d feel differently if I rewatched it now.

As a OFFICIAL man of Sweet Home Alabama, ( Southern Type ) we have no incest here, that is a Carolina thing, NOT HERE. I am tired of people only knowing Alabama for “incest” when we don’t do that.
