A twelve-o'clock midnight sign-off of the former TV station of the University of Michigan-Flint, WFUM, which was recently acquired by Central Michigan University in early 2010. It now operates as WCMZ as part of the CMU Public Television network.
The video commences with the final moments of the PBS series Mystery, followed by the PBS ID logo. Immediately after comes the WFUM sign-off announcement, accompanied by somber music and a still photo of a TV transmitting tower. The sign-on portion starts off with two-and-a-half minutes of color bars and tone. Then comes the WFUM sign-on, which features video of downtown Flint as well as business, industrial and recreational goings-on within the city. Following this is the opening minute of the WFUM's What's Up, a community calendar and news program.
Both the sign-off and sign-on makes reference to a line from the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, which reads, "Religion, morality, and knowledge, being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of education shall forever be encouraged."
