I switched to keto in January of 2019. I ❤️ cooking and learning about new recipes. I'm now growing most of my vegetables and fruits. I weaned off of 4 insulin shots, two types of insulin within 6 weeks. Within a year I weaned off of all heart/blood pressure medications and all psychiatric medications. I also lost 70 ponds and have kept it off. I usually eat one meal per day and. Occasionally I'll have a snack of pork rinds and peanut butter. I'll add cocoa powder, stevia, erythritol and/or allulose, and a few different oils like macadamia, olive oil and toasted sesame seed oil. Sometimes, I'll add walnuts, hazelnuts, Brazil nuts and pumpkin seeds.

Thank you. I don't have diabetes or prediabetes, but up to 80% of us still get blood sugar spikes. A bullet may miss, but a shotgun cartridge may not. What I mean is that a combination of methods is surely better than only one. So, I have learned to take a spoon of vinegar in water within 30 minutes before eating. Rinse mouth to protect tooth enamel afterwards. Then eat veggies first, protein second and carbohydrates last. Some 30 minutes after a meal I do 40 squats, 40 push ups and 40 pull-ups on a 45-degree machine I have. Or I just run on the spot (stationary running) for a few minutes sometimes instead. I also add some very simple accupressure moves that are featured for diabetics here on RU-vid by a Japanese lady. RU-vid search 'accupressure diabetes' to find it. Feeling better and better. Stay positive and beat this into remission.

I tried going vegan, vegetarian even tried keto. I finally admitted I am a sugar addict whether it is fructose, sucrose or glucose or fruit or veg, if it was sweet it became a gateway drug to sugar. I have landed on the Carnivore lifestyle, blood sugar is steady at 5.1mmol/L, and I have never ever felt better. I'm no longer insulin resistant/pre-diabetic, plus all my inflammation has vastly improved. I'm now off all meds. Works for me and I am good with it. I miss vegetables especially fruit but my health is more important to me. I hope people find a diet or lifestyle that works for them.

I had to go mostly meat-based too. And meat is my least favorite food lol but it's what I tolerate best. I believe it may be possible to be able to eat normal foods again if the oral microbiome is corrected over time, I'm testing the theory now and I guess we'll see how it goes. I know that an imbalanced oral microbiome can cause diabetes, mouthwash for example kills our good bacteria which are needed for important functions involving insulin and circulation etc!

I bought the Signos CGM package. My second day on. Very informative so far, still evaluating it! Observations so far: 1) Elevated Glucose Readings - but within the range - 15-20 minutes before waking up. Including every time, I'm awakened to use the restroom at night. 2) Healthy Keto meal (carbs < 20 grams) hardly noticeable spike of Glucose at all. 3) Early dinner matters a lot! 4) Walking exercise elevates blood sugar - but still within normal range. They call that a healthy stress on the body. 5) However, eating Health Keto meal AFTER a walk keeps the blood sugar elevated and the glucose spike exceeds normal range, for short time. 6) The meter logging allows you to record only ONE exercise event. So, if you walk morning an evening... you're out of luck. Very satisfied, for now. Still exploring.

You can do it cold turkey but if you can’t and you have pretty much eaten what you want all the time; best advice that I can give someone would be to slowly chip away at the things that you know aren’t good for you. Try not having one type of thing or reducing it. For example, if you love soda you don’t have to stop drinking it but try to reduce it by half then to say one time a week then a year later one time a month and if you can a couple times a year. Other foods you can find alternative replacements. For example if You like having white bread all the time try a half white half wheat bread the whole wheat or something other than white and eventually over the months and years you will find you don’t want any white anymore or just once in a while for a treat. Same goes for sweets at night. Reduce, replace and treat once every three months. It takes years but chip away one at a time. Never all at once. Be patient with you body and your mind but always try every year to work on something. Addiction of food a sugar is no joke. Eventually after many years it will be so much easier to cut sugar out almost completely but because you’ve cut out or changed all these other things you’ll be more ready for it. The worst thing you can do is stop everything all at once because what you’re gonna do is want to go back to everything once you’ve lost the weight which is great but you’ll just continue to gain weight again. Keep moving forward and learning be patient with yourself and work to improve when you are ready.

This is a lifestyle change not a diet so decide if this is for you! Eating more fat with protein is the answer. Getting your body into adipose ketosis is what will stabilize your blood sugar. Vegetables makes no difference but will keep you feeling full but are unnecessary.. I've bedn doing this for almost a month and I have lost 22 pounds of fat.. I consume 20 carbs or less a day and my blood surgars are below 100 60% of the time during a 24 hour period. Also I eat once a day so that my body will burn the pudding around my waist as its source of energy. When started I was 272 lbs. now I'm 250.8 lbs. I'm wearing shirts now that haven't worn in 15 years and jeans as well. Yes call this intermitten fasting but it works!

Low carb for life. Lots of cabbage, green beans, spinach, celery, chicken, fish, some cheese, whole grain bread, walnuts, eggs, and gotta have bacon, green tea, water, etc.

Just to add. Its important to call out 'Ultra Processed Foods 'UPF's' as these are typically high in sugars, refined carbohydrates and a long list of preservatives and chemicals to enhance flavors. Its a good idea to take a diary for two weeks, anything that passes your lips goes in the diary, this can help you ID the areas you might want to change. Generally speaking ideally your intake of UPF is zero, but IF UPF's are about 5%, 10% of your tot consumption of foods that should have little impact. There are excellent peer studies that show the impact of consuming UPF's and how they contribute to cancers, cardiovascular disease, depression, anxiety, IBS, gut issues, inflammation. Its no one type of EPF, its the combined consumption of EPF's. Knowledge is power

I got told I was just about pre diabetic, but I also have CKD. I think the CKD may well be because of the high BG, so, I have cut out ALMOST all bread (I home bake) and all cakes and pastries. I started having Chia seed pudding with fruit for breakfast. Otherwise unsweetened. I'm eating lean chicken in small portions (too much protein is a no no for CKD) and lots of veg. A small amount of cheese. My treat is 3 squares of Valour almond chocolate after dinner (which is about 30g, but half of that is almonds!). Fasting BG down in 3 weeks to 80 from 113. I probably need more protein because I am resistance training too, every day. This isn't a diet, it is a life change.

These videos are VERY helpful. You usually indicate a spike by percentage. Can you tell is where your blood sugar is in the 100s form? i.e. 120, 175, etc.?

I had an A1c of 8.1 and was on metformin medications, I still couldn't control the carb and sugar cravings, my A1c dropped to 7.1 and i went cold turkey on a 100 hour water fast and then on a straight meat salt and water diet for the next 8 days, then Keto for aother 8 days, after that went to lower carbs and minimal processed foods. In those 20 days i broke my sigar cravings. After that I learned about LMNT Electrolytes and took the water diet to 8 days and then lower carb meas with a cheat day a week. My A1c dropped to 6.0 and I gained a tonne of lean muscle. Look up 100 hours no food on RU-vid. It has broken my insulin resistance and I have had my cholesterol, LP(a), triglycerides and testosterone checked as well as a CT heart scan and I came our completely healthy with zero plaque

The aim should be to eventually remove ALL carbohydrates from plant sources. That is, the carnivore diet. It is our species specific diet.

Brother I love this content. To the point, you don't pretend to be an expert in anything, and I've never heard you say "fun fact" or "for the win".
