Do you know what this fandom did to me? I used to hate spoilers. I didn't even watch trailers most of the time. And now I'm like give me all the spoilers! Spoilers from ep 1 helped a lot. I'm fine with the whole brothel thing now. I think I understand what they're trying to do now.

It’s so exciting to hear what scenes y’all are looking forward to. The scene I want to happened the most is after the carriage scene. I want the two of them to have to meet in public. Penelope would just be trying to play it cool, while Chaos Colin is in full swing. I’d just love to see that dynamic of her trying to act normal, and he would just be locked in on her. Cause after the carriage she still has the mindset of that was a one time thing. Meanwhile, as Obvs likes to say, he’s picking out centerpieces for their wedding!

Also I love the short that you guys did explaining the advice Colin would give Pen about courtship. "Oh Colin, what if he asks me to go onto the veranda?" Bwahahahahaha "what if he ravishes me in a carriage?"

Watching the "Goodnight, Mr. Bridgerton" clip that the Netherlands put out, it shows extra footage of panning back towards Colin after Pen walks away towards a carriage, and he has a deeply wounded/remorseful look on his face. Energy from that scene carrying over into the Featherington garden scene where Colin apologizes definitely makes it carry more weight (IMO). I cannot wait to see these scenes and the whole of Season 3!!!💛💙 Another fabulous video ladies!!!❤The scene recreations/read-throughs are hilarious and amazing all around!

Your re-read of this book has been great. I agree that a public declaration is necessary at some point in the show and I think we need some moment that proves to Show Pen that Colin is proud of her AFTER he finds out about Lady Whistledown, whenever that happens. Overall, I just hope the romance outweighs the stupid Shondaland angst of it all. Also, OH MY GOD I LOVE THE MOVIE CLUE, TOO, LECHI!!! It's hilarious! Any similar line to "I'm gonna go home and sleep with my wife" from Colin would be perfection. Can't wait for more eps from you girls!

Oh ladies! I am so happy that I didn't listen to you yesterday evening and I did this morning while cleaning the house... so I could laugh out loud. This has been hysterical! Your podcast is so long I am not sure I remember all the things I want to comment on. I will leave I thought about episode 4 as last so that if someone doesn't want to read that part will be far down! About LW revelation: I think too that the show wants to keep LW as narrator... I thought that they could pass the torch to someone else. Like they reveal at the end of S3 that Penelope is LW and everyone thinks that we have done with that and then S4 starts again with LW (or a new name) and nobody knows who could it be (and I would guess Hyacint because this way they can keep till the last season)... but if not... this can be a good fanfiction XD I surely will love Colin's love declaration in front of everybody either at the end of this season or maybe at the end of S8. Another theory about the problem of the heir of the Faetherington house... WHAT IF.... The show makes Prudence and Philippa have girls as first daughters and Colin and Penelope "skip" Aghata and get a boy... SOOOOO he became really "Lord Faetherington" (actually the baby boy would be) BUTTTTTT I am quite sure you saw in the fandom many getting pissed on the fact that Penelope is quite having lots of promos even in S1 or S2 even not being part of the principal couple and now the pro-Penelope are joking calling the show Faetheringhton (Instead of Bridgerton) and saying jokes like "I can't wait for Colin to become a Faetherington)... Penelope has been a main lead mostly because she is LW so she has got a lot of light on her character since S1. NOW SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER . . . . . . . . Episode 4: may she running away because Lord Debling was trying to propose her and she knew that (after all the lessons) her feelings for Colin couldn't let her marry LD which is a nice guy. But Colin thinks something else and he follows her. I do think that he doesn't find about LW this is why she refuses "For the God's sake, would you marry me, Penelope?" which I am rooting for. But she thinks that he hates LW so she can't accept this proposal. This will send Colin spiraling and MAYBE this is when Eloise will have to fit in. The other thing is that Penelope actually was not in love with colin before. She had a crush for a perfect guy she created in her mind. But now that she sees him as a whole (strength and weakness) this is when she really falls in love... at the same time he is falling in love seeing her as a whole witty, and shy and WOMAN because the INFAMOUS sentence "You do not count" is because he never saw her as woman. During the lessons he will teach her how to be confident and appear as a desirable woman and then will be when he will start to see that too. Last question: does Beans (I think it was her commenting on Penelope avoidant attachment) has a degree in psychology? I am studying Psycology as hobby and I think in the show they are not putting much effort on that field. For example in Encanto (Disney) I can see that someone with a psychology degree helped to draw the dynamics. Here not so much. Many things happen just because it needs to happen to move forward the story. But a bit more psychology would make everything more organic. Like Penelope being the unseen child of the Faetherington would make more sense if she was the middle child. To me her attachment seems fearful. With her mom, with Eloise and then with Colin. Negative view of herself Negative view of others seek closeness & avoids closeness (she wants to find love and appreciation but then does not rely on those people: in Penelope Show she could have spoken to Eloise both for Marina situation and Queen situation but then she thought that she could be independent and she did everything by herself). I am quite sure I forgot something... If anyone read till here... thank you for your time ;)

Y'all talking at the end about how different the show and the books are really got me thinking about how like the show really takes the core of these characters and puts them in situations that really alter the trajectory of their growth, heightens the stakes and the tension. Every time I've read one of these books, I really feel like Julia Quinn almost seems afraid of too much tension, like nothing ever happens that makes me feel truly worried about the characters getting their happy ending and I get that romance as a genre is generally meant to be safe in that way. It's not a romance, if there isn't a happily ever after. However, what I love about the show is that, we know we stick to that rule of the romance genre, but the characters have greater obstacles to overcome, therefore, they grow more from those obstacles and the payoff of the happily ever after is much more satisfying to me, personally. I can't wait to watch how it all unfolds in season three.

I hope that if he doesn’t just figure it out by following her, then next best is if he confesses love and proposes and then they start to hook up a little and then i want her to stop him because she needs to confess the LW of it all and he looks horrified and then thats the cliff hanger.

The WhatABarb audiobook: Chap 18 sexiness effectively destroyed. LOL. But abso-positively, consent is sexy. I will never get over “Stay.” I also hope their first kiss in the show is very deliberate and conscious like the book - it’s also giving consent! Yes, S1 and S2 had the “passionate” first kiss but been there/done that, you know? But a “I’m going to kiss you now” approach means the partner can decide to back out and it’s more vulnerable, more intimate than being taken with passion, IMO. The excitement of “holy shit, this is happening” when the other person doesn’t back out, it’s reciprocated! I would love a callback to S1 Anthony confronting Colin - did you compromise the young lady? And this time Colin will proudly admit - “I certainly did.” LOL. Loved your discussion of Colin seeking out Anthony & his family for help as a true sign of his maturity. Great point that Eloise may be taking the whole jealousy subplot away from Colin while Colin’s issue is about keeping Pen safe. Love your theory about LW giving writer Colin tips is a full circle moment to his confidence lessons for her. And the theory about Pen turning herself in to the Queen - that fits perfectly with show-Pen’s penchant for self-sacrifice of her/her family’s reputation to save Colin. By the way, what is the “All my love” collab/journal you guys mentioned? And side note to Obvs - you are too funny and I can’t figure you out. The ultimate Polin fan and romance lover…I think? But you’ll suddenly deliver the most deadpan dark/somber quotes on life and love that I do a double take. LOL.

i love!!! that the show decided to transfer the jealousy and rage part of book Colin's reaction to El. it just makes sense. as a friend El will obviously feel betrayed and even envy but for Pen's partner to be so mad at her would've put me off a little. i am not saying Colin is not allowed to be mad, but book Colin anger is ridiculous to me. kinda condescending imo

i think it would be pretty cool if the reason she started is because of Lady Danbury. like imagine if she threw a barb under her breath and Lady Danbury complimented her. it would be super cool and it would also explain as to why she did the deliveries on her own. instead having the solicitor help her.

I will say, in the show Penelope HAS changed. She was 16/17 when the show started. She’s become braver and wiser by making mistakes and learning from them. She also has moved on from Colin (as in she doesn’t hero worship him anymore). It would make sense if he said something about them both changing and growing together.
