So, could a graveside service also be given to a civilian as well as a veteran?

I feel the biggest point brought up by non orthodox is that bodies are long gone after a few decades (generally speaking), so the point is not to preserve a body to be resurrected. If that’s true, then the issue is mainly the aggressive destruction of a body?

1:50 Excuse me? What about freedom of choice given by God? If the dead person wanted a specific funeral, why should you negate them that? Only because they were orthodox it doesn't mean that they want to follow it fully.

That’s like saying you want to be half married or come to work when you feel like it. Orthodoxy isn’t a club, it’s a relationship with God. All in or all out.

My parish has a burial society with a trained group for men and a group for women. We don’t cremate or embalm. Our burial society washes the body, dresses the person, other techniques (keeping the eyes and mouth shut etc). There are prayers throughout. It’s normal for people to use a pine box to be buried in. In Summer a mortuary might keep the body chilled until the funeral. Besides that one thing and a burial plot, there’s no other cost the to family

@@bonniejohnstone Yeah and the person who wanted a different burial decided to leave that club. It's not up to you to judge them or make a different decision on what they've asked you.
