Chris Allen Exactly! She sounds great and has a great voice for this show and in general! There is no right or wrong theater voice. I don’t understand why some Broadway fans have to turn everything into some big competition. And Sara Bareilles specifically asked Katharine to play this role and she wrote the frigging songs, so clearly she knows what’s up! 😂🙌

Eddie Jemison (Ogie) reprised his role in the musical so I don't think there would be any hard feelings even though I didn't get to see him myself in NYC.

YESSS. There's room in my heart for both. I can't say I've ever cared for the stage version as far as the story goes but damn I love the music

DamianGarcia92 The irony about the second half is that Jessie was literally Tapping into her pop/rock voice...it’s a pop/rock musical for goodness sake, that’s the kind of voice it requires...you don’t have to like Kat per se, but to say she’s too pop/rock is silly since it’s a POP/ROCK musical :/

I think this was just a teaser clip to get people excited for her to take on the role. Because with the beat itself it's incredibly perky on it's own. Sounds nothing like the song in the musical. So maybe it's just to get ready for her

whambamsam I'm really excited for her to step up as Jenna, I really was ecstatic when they revealed her, but I'm not quite there yet with her and this song. Now SUTBM was another deal and I praised her. I hope she outdones herself onstage

i think her voice is completely different, but in she used to be mine she sang like she was trying to do all the little stylistic things jessie did. (i guess bc it was just a demo) but things can change a lot until she starts her run, she’s just giving little samples

Well, Boadway shows are machines, and in that respect, blocking has to be similar each night. Hence, replacements have to "evoke" the original performer. But I think Jessie and Katherine's voices are really different. And I was lucky enough to see Jessie as Jenna, so I think I know what I'm talking about.
