As you grow in the LORD at some point you'll see that it was God who debunked false religion in you. He is the one that opens our eyes, there's no 'I' in the picture, but the Arminian thought process which can hold us for some time tends to give credit to the human rather than to God for the person's disposition.

@@fredflintstone8048 why would you say something so dishonest about arminian theology ? I'm not an arminian but I know for a fact that they don't give themselves any credit whatsoever for their salvation . You must not be as mature in scripture or salvation as you need to be after all to make a false statement like that . Do you think it's better or even biblical to tell people that they can't seek after GOD but have to wait for GOD to come and tell them that HE picked them before creation to be saved ? That's exactly what calvinism teaches and claims and that's not biblical or wise at all . I witnessed James White tell that very same thing to a young Mormon man so don't tell me I don't understand or yaw don't do that because I witnessed it for myself and have had the very same thing said to me on many occasions. ]

@@IzzyMann Do some homework. Arminianism is a teaching in popular christianity that humans have a free will and autonomously choose to believe in Jesus Christ thus ignoring the biblical texts that tell us that we don't choose God, He chooses us. It makes sense to those who have studied the topic.. I brought this up because the person posting used the term "I" when talking about debunking false religion and coming to the gospel. It's the immature view held by all baby christians due to the way they were raised to think, but the bible clearly teaches us that God chooses His sheep, and He gives them faith and repentance, but to the person who's not mature enough in the gospel they feel like and believe that THEY did it. They didn't. I didn't, and if you're a true believer, you didn't either. Joh 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, Joh 1:13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. oh 10:24 So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.” Joh 10:25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father's name bear witness about me, Joh 10:26 but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. Joh 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. Act 13:48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. Act_16:14 One who heard us was a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple goods, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul. These are just a few samples of what I'm talking about. If you're a christian it's good for you to read your bible and learn about this. If you don't know these things that doesn't stop you from being christian. There are baby immature christians and there are christians who are learned in the word, experience and more mature. All of them are saved but it's to a person's benefit to grow in their christian maturity.

When I prayed the sinners prayer I meant it. But these days, when I evangelise, I don't ask people to say a sinners prayer because if they truly understand the gospel, they'll pray one of their own. I also don't believe in altar calls anymore. A non-christian teenage girl came to our church and heard a sermon. The next day she walked a fair way to our preachers house and asked him to tell her how to become a christian. That's the type of altar call I believe in now. If someone truly understands the gospel, they will seek you out. You don't have to compell them.
@repentofidols

There is no altar call, most men that calls themselves pastors are wolves that paid money to supposedly learn how to give the Holy Ghost. Which Peter told Simon Magus that he was in the gall of bitterness for asking if he could do that in acts 8. They do not have the Holy Ghost and teach many unbiblical things like tithing. They will send many to damnation. The apostles did not build buildings and call them "churches". They did not take tithes. They did not teach a sinners prayer. They did not accumulate wealth and said that they owned things. They did not let women teach.

Sunday school one time, the teacher gave us the talk about needing to believe in Jesus as our saviour, and the other girls around my age stayed with her to pray the prayer. But I didn't want my parents making a big deal about it (they used things against me), so when it was over, I went to the toilets and prayed against the door of the stall. I didn't hear the "proper" prayer of the teacher, so it's interesting to me, now, that I felt confident as a child to come to Jesus and use my own words to tell him I believed what he did for me and to ask him to save me. I had no repentance though, and no evidence after that of increasing fruit, works, prayer or Bible reading, but that was the start of a blossoming of faith that I can pinpoint.

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. 15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Acts 22 14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. 15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard. 16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and BE BAPTIZED, and wash away thy sins, CALLING ON THE NAME OF THE LORD. Acts 2 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST (NOT TITLES AND NOT THE NAME "JESUS") for the REMISSION OF SINS, and ye shall receive the GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST. 39 For the PROMISE is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. 40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. 41 Then they that gladly received his word were BAPTIZED: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. 42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ DOCTRINE and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. 44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. 46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, 47 praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. 1 Peter 3 17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing. 18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 19 by which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 20 which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by WATER. 21 The like figure whereunto even BAPTISM doth also now SAVE US (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: 22 who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him. Acts 4 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, 9 if we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; 10 be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is NONE OTHER NAME under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Mark 16 14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that BELIEVETH and is BAPTIZED shall be SAVED; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

I used to say the sinner's prayer all the time, sincerely too. It never alleviated my doubt and fear. When I finally got saved I learned that asking Jesus to save you and actually trusting Him to do it are two different things. The trusting Him to do it all came from Him. So did the true realization I needed saving in the first place. Nothing short of a miracle.

@@lkae4 You are righteous (meaning in right standing) with God when you serve Him with a pure heart with pure and right intentions. In other words not just making it about what you can get from Him, or wanting to be seen or heard, or whatever the case maybe. None is perfect, and we all fall short of the glory of God. But you become righteous with Him the moment you recognize to come out of religion (rituals/works), and decide to develop a sincere, pure, whole, and complete relationship/walk with Christ daily. Have you guys ever tried to step into the shoes of a sinner who prays the sinners prayer? My guess is no because most of you got saved at a very young age. I was led to Christ by my pastor at 28 years old. And he walked me through it all the way up to the prayer, and to avoid having leading me in prayer because of silly things like this influencing him, he just told me to pray to God. I didn’t know what to say, it was awkward. I couldn’t hardly spit out the words, and he saw me struggling, and led me in a coherent prayer that helped me to articulate clearly what I wanted to say but wasn’t sure how to say it. I am forever grateful for him leading me along like a good shepherd would. And if he stands in judgment for that then I’ll plead with God to let me take his judgment on me. I needed his help and he was there for me. And I thank God for him for showing me how to communicate with God. You got to stop beating people up for wanting to help lead people who otherwise have never uttered a prayer in their lives. Where’s the Grace? So long as your heart is unified to the words, what else do you need for it to be authentic? I just don’t understand. You guys have to get into a sinners life to understand why pastors lead people in prayer for salvation.

That's actually a great point. I, too, was like that, although I grew up in church. After 40 years, I have only just started to FORCE myself to pray out loud at my weekly Bible study. Reading Spurgeon's book of prayers has helped me a lot, as has praying out-loud in private. Even still, my public prayers are choppy and short, and I lose track of what I wanted to say, but I must do it to progress as a functioning part of the Body (own conviction). Of course it would be FAR more difficult for one who has never even heard others pray. Someone helping to guide me through a first-time, all-important prayer would be most valuable and welcome. I think what Todd is getting at, however, is the unhelpful, "I invite you into my heart, Jesus, please forgive me, Amen," prayer.

@@lilacDaisy111 I am glad to hear of your willingness to step out and pray publicly. A lot of people wouldn't, so you made great strides! I do wish though that Todd would make your point much more clear. There are just too many Scriptures he has to reconcile that speaks of the priority of prayer for salvation. But if he believes in election to salvation from the foundation of the world, then the prayer is moot because it's about the appointment date, not a prayer. And that's where the rub comes in. If you are a Calvinist, then you probably agree that a prayer is worthless when it comes to salvation. If you are non-Calvinist, then the prayer is essential. And that's usually how the two camps think.

One of the things I have come to understand is that God calls whom He calls. We can't thwart His will in that in any way. People are saved by many many methods, but ultimately it must be a sheep who hears and knows His voice. If I fail to get myself positioned to share the Gospel with someone because I was dilly dallying or being nervous/bashful/fearful or what have you... that isn't going to keep our Holy God from reaching them. The devil would love for us to believe so. I carried some guilt over that kind of thinking before, but I concluded that God will still gather His people with nothing getting in the way. Not even us. I have shared the Gospel many times over starting with my own family which is extremely difficult. Some avoid me now, but it's to be expected. Their real problem isn't with me, it's with God and His morals, Christ and His triumph over sin and death etc... Every person either hears the call and responds because they are His sheep, or rejects Him. It's not because we failed to reach them. Quite contrary, because in preaching the Gospel, they are then without excuse on judgement day. Every person utilizes their free will to accept or reject and even if they are close loved family... we cannot feel responsible for their Eternity choice. It's really tough, and no sinners prayer said without true earnestness will be heard anyways. The short is... preach the Gospel as true Christians are called to, calling men everywhere to repent, and trust in Christ for everything!!

Well done, I often talk to my family and loved ones but it seems as though they hate me. Nevertheless, a girl died around where we stay and I felt guilty that I didn't share the gospel with her. Nowadays, I'm not sure whether this is right, but I feel in my guts that, even if I did share the gospel with her, she would have rejected it. When things are going well, people refuse to hear warnings and that girl went from heart disease to failing lungs and kidneys in a few days time. One after the other and she was dead. Now I'm fearful person who naturally hates being rejected but God is my hope and strength to share the gospel

Yeah. There is some truth to what you said, but in all honesty we fail miserably at reaching out to people in the way God intend us to as men and women of God. Most people use the Bible and the sanctuary of God as away to verbally assault and attack people. They don't show the true love of God, and there hearts are far from Him. It don't matter how many people you witness to, or how often you pay your tithes, shout, praise, serve at the church, or whatever the case maybe. If you don't have a pure heart with pure and right intentions while serving God. There is no point in it whatsoever. Many of us make it about us and us alone. We still think that we are saved by works, and that's absolutely not true. We are saved by grace from God, and our faith in Jesus Christ. Sometimes a person may not be as sincere when they first say the prayer, they may not quite understand it, and could possibly be saying it for all of the wrong reasons. But that's we have to keep praying for them, and one another as a whole. Pray that the Lord change, transform, and renew their mind, body, heart, soul, and spirit daily, and that they recognize that it's Him that's knocking on the door of their hearts. And that they completely let Him in. God is breaking His people free from the spirit of religion, and getting them to transform into a real, true, genuine, and authentic relationship with God and God alone. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. And we need to get closer and closer to Him. So, that we can be attentive to His voice and HIS voice, and so that we can be sensitive to His spirit and His spirit alone. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. So, we will recognize what He Himself is saying to us in the scriptures, and as a whole. Because when we get saved we are to be making it about our Father's business, and our Father's business alone. And try to reach as many people that He called, chose, appointed, anointed, purposed, and positioned us to do. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Many of us are still way to bound by and entangled with religion. Many of us didn't know or realize that initially, but we know now.

@@ladennayoung2939 yes, that is true, we are saved by grace alone, and we know that God has saved us, but how do we stop judging people? How do we get it in our heads that we have to get people to God Himself and that we ourselves are nothing? I'm flabbergasted by it all, I spoke to a drunkards all the time, but I don't know why am I always disgusted by it? What must I do? What prayer to say, to tolerate it? My face always shows how disgusted alcohol makes me, but other sins God has given grace to tolerate, please give advice

@@hate.doublespeak991 For me, the key to being less critical in my view of others is the realization of how foul and offensive my own sin is to a thrice holy perfect God. The disgust you feel toward drunkenness is multiplied by infinity when it comes to how God feels about that time you told a tiny lie. Every time we sin, even in the smallest way, it is our declaration that we are smarter and more moral than God and we are committing treason against his rulership of our lives. Christians are covered by God's grace and Christ's righteousness is given to us so that we are not condemned by God, but we must remember that without the work of the Holy Spirit that makes us disgusted by the sin we see, we very well could be that drunkard or a serial killer or any number of horrible people. God's restraint is what stops us from being as evil as we could possibly be. As we grow closer to God we will become more disgusted with our own sin and we must not be hypocrites forgetting to address the plank in our own eye, knowing that even the greatest sinner is not beyond redemption if it be God's will to extend his saving grace to them.

Maybe I can get someone's input on this. I've done this before while sharing the gospel. One of the most notible examples is when i was sharing the gospel with my grandma who has Alzheimer's/dementia. I knew she would not be able to remember to pray later, or even our conversation 10-15 min later. She had trouble doing basic things. I led her in a prayer, and she seemed to be on board and agreeing with what i said. She repeated after me, and at the end of the prayer she looked at me and with a huge smile she said "WOW! I FEEL GREAT!" encouraged me to pursue ministry then changed to a completely different topic. Only God knows her heart, and knows her capacity to do certain things, but i believe she may have been saved in this moment. Not in anything i did, but what God has done and is doing. Regardless please pray for her salvation if your reading this. Her name is Pat. God bless!

It's a blessing that you chose to be led by the spirit of God and do that with and for her. God knows. There is absolutely nothing wrong with prayer. Ask the Lord to penetrate her heart, to heal her from the inside out, and to heal her from the crown of her head to the sole of her feet, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. God is the one that mend, heal, and transform. And I'm sure that the spirit of the Lord is the one that led you to do that with and for her. Many people may have not had anyone do that for them before whatsoever. And following God's lead and leading them into that prayer is a start, and we have to let God do the rest, and trust God to do the rest. No matter who the person is, and no matter what situation we are in. People forget that Jesus recognize the thief on the cross heart. We can't assume that everyone isn't sincere after saying that prayer, or whatever the case maybe. Only God knows that. There are many people that have titles and gifts in the body of Christ, but isn't really saved pee se. Because they are not serving Him and praising Him from a sincere and pure heart. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen and Amen and Amen and Amen and Amen and Amen and Amen and Amen and Amen and Amen and Amen and Amen and Amen and Amen.

I remember when I first went to church doing the sinners prayer, I can honestly say it didn't do really anything to me, but when I felt God truly in my heart is when I ask him personally, I said Lord if your there please come into my life, please help me understand your word, and that's when I felt this unbelievable radiated heat that warmed my heart for 7 days of perfect peace, it's a feeling I can only explain in that way it was my personal experience, before that I was ready to give up on life as I went through a broken heart during that time, the Bible says the Lord is their for the broken hearted, that's my personal experience with God.

Very similar experience for me as well. I just felt this overwhelming peace that surpasses all understanding for about a week or two, and afterwards I couldn’t stop going back to Him in everything I thought.

(Faith) Believing in Jesus Christ as your Savior + Nothing =Salvation. We are not saved by works but for works. He looks at our hearts. How many times one says things that they do not believe? What if a person is mute, is he or she condemned already? God bless you all.

Matthew 7 13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. I personally don’t think that there is anything wrong with the sinners prayer. But if witness to someone and use it you need to elaborate on it. Explain that the words of the prayer itself doesn’t save you. It’s where your heart is at. The attitude and mindset of the prayer and the words is what you are supposed to have. Kind of like when Christ prayed “out father who art in heaven” etc. it was about having the humility and mindset of hallowing the father and his will above not just repeating the same exact words over again. So explain that when evangelize, don’t be irresponsible and let them think that speaking those exact words save them.

If you come to the Lord humbly and sincerely, proclaiming your life is out of control and you cannot handle it anymore, the Lord will hear your cry ! I don’t think it matters, how, when or where as love as you are Truly Ready……. Blessings. 🙏❤️🕊

When I First got saved a couple months ago it was after saying the prayer a solid 15 times or so. I always thought I was saved but the funny part is, When I got saved a few months ago, I didn’t chose to be saved. He came to me and took His place in my heart when I was unknowingly in my darkest point in Life. I didn’t say the prayer, He just came to me.

Romans 10:9-10, 13: If you'll confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your hear that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

I don't remember everything I said, but when I walked the aisle, I took the preacher's hand and just started confessing sin. I named sex before marriage, abusing God's name, and saying He didn't exist. When I was done, the pastor led me in another prayer. I love my pastor, and perhaps he just wanted to clarify things, but I really felt it was unnecessary. And I have to admit I didn't feel sincere when I said it. So these quiet recitations really concern me. I watched a video from probably the biggest church in my area and the pastor led such a prayer as you discussed. It was super short and he basically just said, "I ask you into my heart. I thank you for forgiving my sin. Amen." Then he instructed them to get some kind of packet and schedule their baptisms. 😬 Hopefully, they do follow up work that goes deeper, but I'm not comfortable with "comfortable conversions."

Oh wow, that video you watched sounds like they're ashamed of the Gospel -- try and say as little as possible, in case the new converts get wise that it's not what they thought. Yikes.

First you think out your words, then you say your words. It is almost similtanious, but you think of the word first, then you say it. God knows your thought. So then the moment of salvation actually came with the first step of repentance, which comes just after the decision is made. However, it's always a good idea to follow through with the public confession. That is the most difficult step and it shows God you are serious. It also inherts you with eyewitnesses.

Matthew 7 13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. 15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. All the sinners prayer is this: That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. I will continue to help people with the words and it is the LORD that saves not necessarily the prayer but the heart and the spoken word of confession that HE is LORD.

Just like the scriptures say there is only ONE GOD and ONE LORD JESUS CHRIST, there is only 1 way to be saved Ephesians 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, Matthew 7 13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. 15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. A very good video. The church system thrives on the emotions of people. They need them to come down during the conviction of the Holy Spirit in order to exploit this emotion and get their membership. Why? Bcause at some point, membership in the church equals money, or false pride in a growing church system. I called out to God for mercy alone, on my knees, in a hay barn in south Texas. No emotion was needed. I knew that I was a sinner. I wanted the Father as my God. I knew Jesus was the only way. I knew He was the Son of God. I asked for Gods mercy and forgiveness. I was 18, now I am 65. I have left the church system (2 brothers are baptist preachers) and my relationship with God grew greater than I ever thought possible.

If we are ever led to say that prayer again, or even get baptized again. It absolutely will not hurt anything. Because we are to stay in a heart of repentance. Because at the end of the day we ALL fall short of the glory of God each and everyday. The things that we dismiss as being sin is the problem and issues with most Christians. We tend to gossip, be mean spirited, judge, and ridicule people as a whole, and that isn't what God want us to do. Yeah. We are to be wise and cautious around certain people or situations if the Lord show us something about the person or environment, and lead us to do so. But the problem is MANY Christian's have been caught up in choosing to condemn people for what they call major sins. But not wanting to acknowledge, address, or realize that gossip, lying, backbiting, talebearer, saying mean and horrible things about people or to their face is a sin (whether it's true or not), control, manipulation, rebellion, unforgiveness, anger and hateful towards people, trying to treat some people as if they don't belong in church or is not welcomed there, or whatever the case maybe, and so on and so forth is the issue/problem. Not just homosexuality, abortion, fornication, pornography addiction, adultery between your Earthly spouse, or whatever the case maybe. But not serving God from a pure heart and pure intentions is the issue with most Christians, and what will cause them to go to hell. If they don't sincerely repent and come out of that. Because they think it's only about shouting, dancing around at church, speaking in programs at church, or singing at church, or attending church everytime the doors open is what we are supposed to be doing. And that's not it at all whatsoever. It's about being about our Father's business, and doing so from love and a sincere and pure heart. Not just about being seen or heard, or about how many people we can make feel or look bad. But it's about serving God from the heart. Because when we face God we are going to face Him as individuals on judgement day. That day will be a great and terrible day, and unfortunately if we choose to keep ignoring God, and keep trying to do things our way, and see things from our perspective. It won't look or be good for us, and we are doomed anyway.

I will say this. Yes. A person may not initially be sincere when they say that prayer, or understand what it is really about or what is happening initially. But I wouldn't say that mean we should stop leading people in that prayer in and if the spirit of the Lord lead us to do so. But that's the thing most people choose not to be, or fully understand how to be sensitive to the spirit and voice of God. They tend to simply do things in and of themselves and throw God's name around as if God is actually in the midst of it. And in reality He is not. And we have to understand, trust, know, and believe, that ALL change, transformation, healing, and renewal, and revelation comes from God and God alone. This is why the Lord is constantly telling us to stay in pray, and telling us to pray for one another without ceasing. That pray and those prayers are VERY vital. Because that is what can help people really be able to change and transform into the new creature in Christ that He intended them to be. The thing is people have to start somewhere. And the spirit of the Lord have different pastor's online and otherwise that speak and minister to people's mind, heart, body, soul, and spirit. He have them speaking to the trauma they have encountered, the pain, the heartache, the misconceptions that they have been taught, the pain, the rejection and abandonment that they feel and have felt, and so on and so forth. And that's where, when, and how the true healing and repentance can begin. Yes. We need to acknowledge that certain things are sin, and try to encourage people to come out of sin, bondage, and slavery of said sin. But beating someone up with Bible scriptures, and bashing them what Bible scriptures, and telling them how sick, awful, and horrible they are isn't the key or the answer. Yes. By all means tell and speak God's truth, but learn how to do it in and with love. The true and real love of God. Not the false love that the world portray, or religion portray, or whatever the case maybe. But actual, true, genuine, and pure love from God. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. But religion of any kind absolutely do NOT save anyone. It imprisons them even more so. It make them feel more shame, guilt, fear, and embarassment then they was already feeling. I was bound by it for many years. I was bound by it up until about two years ago, and God started doing a work in me and through me right at home. I was broken, confused, lonely, and hurt still feeling rejected, abandoned, and unloved. But I finally had got to a place of recognizing that I simply needed and needed to desire God and God alone. And I'm almost certain that God did that all by Himself. Yes. Someone was probably praying for and with me without me even knowing. It could have been an absolute stranger that God allowed to cross my path. Along with Jesus interceding for me in prayer at the right hand of the Father (as He do for all of us). But God changed my heart, renewed my mind and heart, and transformed my mind and heart, and transformed and renewed me from the inside out. God used a Jehovah's witness to draw me back to Him in 2004 or so. I didn't attend church with them, but it led me to desire and to be led to pray for a church home, and I drew closer to Him then. Yes. I made mistakes and fell short of the glory of God from then up until the present. I still didn't quite know who He was or understood Him. But her actions sowed a seed, and that's what it is all about. Sow a seed when and how God lead us to do so, and let Him, and look to Him and Him alone to do the rest. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen and Amen and Amen and Amen and Amen and Amen and Amen and Amen. We must choose to learn how to and let God be God in our lives and the lives of others. Only prayer changes things. The prayers of the righteous AVAILETH much.

I think much of the time the so-called sinner's prayer is about numbers. It's about being able to say you got this many people to repeat this prayer therefore that many people got saved that day when that could in fact be far from the truth and now those people think they're saved when they're not.

Faith is a gift from God. And it is what we do with that gift that determines if we are saved or not. So salvation is by faith AND works. The sinners prayer is not, therefore, scriptural. (notice that I said scriptural as opposed to biblical, as there is a big big difference) Christ said there is a great cost involved if someone wants to be his disciple. Well, that does not fit with the false doctrine of salvation being by faith alone, which also refutes the notion of a sinner's prayer.. The sinner's prayer that is taught today came out of Paulineism.

It would have been better to mention how altar calls were started. In fact, it was first called the altar bench and it began with a man named Charles Finn. He left a biblically sound church bc he thought it was boring so he created the revival model that a lot of churches use. He became a revivalist and inspired people like Billy Graham. Billy implemented the same thing but instead of the altar bench, he called it the altar call. I think he said in his latter years he believed only one third of those people were really saved.

People that come against the “Sinner’s Prayer”. Lack Knowledge and Understanding Romans 10:9 is where the Sinner’s Prayer comes from. It’s a Public Decree where God, The Host of Heaven, Satan & his demons know that the person has made a decision to Accept , confess Jesus Christ as their Lord & Savior. This Declaration gives God the Legal Rights to the soul. The person now picks up their cross and follows christ. Just like when someone decides to sin when they do this without repenting satan has legal rights over the individual. Romans 10:9-11 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

Salvation is conditional. A sorrowful, saddened, contrite and Repentant Heart! The Holy Spirit pricks the conscience and wounds the heart once the sinner understands the concept of sinning against a Holy God. "The Ten Commandment's are the School Master that leads to Christ." Billy Graham

Great video, and I totally agree. I was a false convert for several years due to a “sinner’s prayer.” Here are some reasons I don’t believe people are saved by the SP: 1.) The Bible is clear that God does not hear the prayers of lost sinners.(See John 9:31) 2.) Prayer is work, and we’re not saved by works. (See Romans 15:30) 3.) In the Romans chapter 3 the “evil tidings of bad things” (the end of the bad news), God is telling the lost to shut their mouths. (Romans 3:19) Of course I know in Romans chapter 10 about “calling on the name of the Lord,” but that’s referring to people who do such are already saved. Look at the first verse and chapter 10 is directed at the “brethren” who are already saved. I believe if someone is genuinely calling on the name of the Lord that they’ve already been brought to spiritual life and regenerated. God’s gospel tract is the first four chapters of Romans. The rest of Romans is teaching Christians about Christianity, and how to live the Christian life. God bless.

He's right. The Message isn't a Bible. There is so much added to it it's unreal. But, it was marketed really well. I encourage any new Bible reader to use the KJV or the NKJV. There are others. But these are the two I recommend. I'm greatly turned off by any minister or teacher who uses the Message. It's not that hard. It's loaded with added commentary disguised as scripture. The author himself said it wasn't for serious study.

Peace to you. I see you are hostile so I pray you receive this well. What does the sinners prayer do for the visitor who has never heard the gospel but some conviction is there but no guidance is there either? So they say a fast prayer but don't repent and leave the house of God with no instruction on what God truly requires? They believe they are saved then walk the same way before they entered the church. I say this as an example of at least 70 of my own family members. I was once that person.

Honestly as someone who came out of that teaching and into a teaching that prayer is only between you and God, I agree that alter calls and the sinners prayer is not really helpful when it comes to the profession of faith. I thought I was saved through an alter call at 10 or 11 but afterwards I was baring no fruit. And it wasn't until I was 20 I actually said on my own to Jesus Christ for him to come into my life and forgive me of my sins. And after that I have been baring more fruit in the Lord.

How many churches rate pastors based on scorecards tracking "salvations," rededications, and baptisms like sports coaches? I've met pastors who would recite their numbers and it sounded kind of hollow to me. Making disciples is a lot more work than coaxing and cajoling people to raise their hand while no one is looking and then walk down an aisle while everyone is looking so boxes can be checked or filled in.

So you don't think it is necessary to say a sinner's prayer from your own heart if THE HOLY SPIRIT IS CALLING YOU? I don't believe in repeating a sinner's prayer after people but I really think you have to say one from your own heart if THE HOLY SPIRIT DRAWS YOU.

Well said, but a little bit misleading. Can a babe first steps be, by himself, before he can walk? Before,I needed a pattern, I first had the Lords prayer. BUT, before the "sinner prayer", the seed of salvation MUST be preached and heard. Shalom in Yah.

There is nothing wrong with the sinner’s prayer.

Its (the sinners prayer) a "negative confession with regard to the call/command to "repent" of our sins, and believe in Christ. We don't need "sinners prayers per-se, but a "believers prayer or prayers. Prayers that acknowledge the many promises to us in Christ who believe the Gospel, and express faith in God's grace we receive through "faith." Colossians 1:21-23; Romans 6:1-23; 2nd Corinthians 1:20.

I am vehemently opposed to quick prayerism aka the sinner's prayer in all it's forms. It's a new method that was implemented by DL moody and popularized by Billy Graham. It gives a false sense of assurance.

My pastor asks people to raise their hands - even people who have previously gotten saved but who feel distant from God or who have backslidden. Hence, are these people unsaved? It's never really explained. If anything, it puts a doubt in a person's mind. Then he counts the people who have their hands raised (literally one, two, three...), saying he doesn't want to leave anyone out of the prayer. Personally, I don't see any point in counting hands.

No. They are not unsaved. Read John’s letters. Read Peter’s letters. Backslidden or being overtaken in a sin as a Christian is NOT being unsaved. Some basic studying of the Scriptures will help you. Stop getting your Bible teaching from charlatans on RU-vid who are looking for clicks on their channel.

The messiah's name was always going to be Jesus according to Zechariah Chapter 6... which is the same name as the post exile high priest ,Yeshua! if the concept of Messiah and God are separate then it doesn't automatically follow that sins can be forgiven.. only God can forgive sins. furthermore if the expectation of Messiah is to reverse the events of Genesis 3 Genesis 6 and Genesis 11 then by Definition messiah has to be more than just a man. Jesus being born of Mary but not of Joseph is not a problem according to Jewish history because I believe during the reign of Queen Alexandra Jewish law made Heritage pass on, by matrilineal Bases. A basis for the Trinity can be established in the Old Testament by passages like Amos 4:11Isaiah 48:16.. and Judges chapter 2:1 and Daniel 7:9-14 Support for the idea of God becoming man in Scripture are Deuteronomy 18 verses 15 to 18 Focus of the verse speaks of the coming Messiah coming from lineage of Israel like unto moses. We also have Exodus chapter 23 verse 20 and 21 the context of which is speaking about the future Endeavor of going over Jordan then we come to Joshua chapter 5 verses 13 to 15 and the context of this passage is having just gone over the Jordan into Israel. Another proof of this idea perhaps most glaringly Jeremiah chapter 1 verses 4-10... the first thing you want to pay attention to is titles in verse 4 and verse 9... Hashem and the word of the Lord these titles are used interchangeably there's some definite implication there but the point of emphasis here is verse 9 because it goes a little further than just anthropomorphic language. Now the next concern is did Jesus ever claim to be God? And for this the scriptures I would provide are Matthew 26:64 Jesus directly quotes Daniel 7:13 John 10:34 Jesus claims to be the judge in Psalm 82 referencing verse 6 In John 10 versus Both 11 and 14 Jesus Yeshua says that he is the Good Shepherd and you can cross-reference this with the very first line of Psalm 23. In Mark chapter 6 starting from verse 45 Jesus walks on the water this is something designated in the Old Testament for something only God (job 9:8) can do this separates Jesus from the other people who did miracles. Where another claim would be is in the fact that Jesus forgives sins, off the top of my head is Mark chapter 2 now certainly there have always been Messianic claimants but none of them have ever claimed to forgive sins. Now the question becomes why would Jesus so secretive why didn't he just come out and say that he was the Lord God of Israel?... well one scripture off the top of my head of that I would provide here that might be interesting is this Matthew 16:20 "then he commanded his disciples that they should tell no one that he was Jesus the Christ"... my suggestion to you here, would be that the crucifixion how to take place at a certain place at a certain time and under a specific set of circumstances. Please Look into all the scriptures I made mention here I hope this helps even one person Hashem bless everyone of you... in the name of Jesus both son and God of David king of Israel, amen..!

No prayer is required in order to be saved at all all that is required is to hear the gospel and delete it. Look at Acts chapter 10 and the friends of Cornelius. What prayer did they pray before they were saved and fill ed with spirit? On the day of Pentecost when Peter preached that sermon what prayer did they pray? None.

At first I felt like he was making the videos confusing and it wasn't till it was almost done with the video that it seemed that he had his words together. I think what it is that certain things that perform at churches are confusing and they don't give the biblical reason for what they're doing it's amazing how Christianity has been made more confusing when God made it simple. So then what went wrong? Is a person just better if they get rid of their TV and go to a church that they feel like God absolutely approves. Because I feel like overall Christianity should not be this complex and with him trying get all those words together seems evident of the confusion that's been created overall

Yes! I find that with some songs. I would love for them to explain what scripture it's inspired by or the story behind it, sometimes. There was a song about God's seal on my arm, and I didn't sing it, because I didn't want to sing it [to God] if it were wrong. Another was all about God's wings, and I stood silent, thinking it was a mad song, because I'd never heard those verses.

you can not become a saved person just because you said a prayer the sinners prayer. but if the holy spirit moves on you from the heart with conviction of your sin.? then with out the holy spirits help you cant really be saved.because you have to open your heart to God and be honest to ask him if you have a sin problem. because we are all born into sin from Gods view point. so unless a person is willing to open up there heart to God then to let him who is god come to convict the person in his love that only God can do." then just saying a prayer of words are not enough to let and bring God into your heart. because when i was small i did open my heart to God but he came to me and some how and some way he showed me that i had to make a dission to accept that i was a sinner and needed Jesus to save me. or i would not have been saved to start with. so you can not bring your self to being saved by just words.'' but if you ask God to show him self to you he will if you really want to know him and who he is. but if you do not humble your self before God then you will not have made the transformation of being saved and becoming a new person on the inside. who would have Christ living in you through the Holy spirit. because it is the power of God and his Holy spirit who can change and save us from our sins.we can not save our selves except the power of God all mighty. or your fooling your self.this is why jesus came to die on a cross. and you need to remember that you are saved by grace and Gods mercy not of your own doing. so you have to stay in the fight to stay saved all your life. or risk loosing your salvation because we must trust and walk with Christ one day at a time. to be in relationship with him. and you cant say you are no longer a sinner just because you did get saved.because you still have a old nature inside you a sin nature that is at war with the new nature who is the holy spirit of christ living in you.

When you confess Christ you are of the same words as Christ, it also means to agree with.

You don’t get saved from a prayer, period! It’s unbiblical!

I’ve been saying the sinners prayer all my life and I can vouch for my faith and my life going a lot better than those who have not practiced this. I don’t think for believe it’s mandatory but admitting you are a sinner asking for forgiveness and then asking Jesus to enter your heart and soul is 100% biblical. Not the words but the purpose of the sinners prayer. It’s very fundamental. Admitting you are a sinner and asking forgiveness and having god enter your soul not so you don’t sin but in hopes he helps you not sin again

There is no place in Scripture that tells you to ask Jesus into your heart or soul. And Romans 10 does tell us that admitting you are a sinner asking for forgiveness is mandatory. The sinners prayer is not something you recite throughout your life, it is the confession of a repentant heart to an omnipotent God during the transaction of redemption.

@@SGBass before I even continue past the first sentence you must be a triggered Catholic or something of the form of idolatry to be triggered from the sinners prayer. Jesus and God knows us personally and knows how we speak and what we speak is as unique as our fingerprint. There is also nowhere in the Bible it says to not say these things. Saying a prayer has to be something from scripture is completely ignorant and reminds me of how Catholics act in their blaspheming form of idolatry. You know like the oh mother where art thou prayer and believing you have to say magic words to talk to god. God knows our uniqueness because he made us so therefore he knows the words we use to speak to him are also going to be unique. Your way of thinking keeps millions from taking up the Bible and following Christ. We all have a unique individual relationship with god and yes the Bible is the blueprint for life but when we speak to god we do not have a blueprint for what we can or cannot say. As long as you are speaking to him with respect admiration praise and worship you cannot say wrong words to god.

@@SGBass also reciting that prayer does not make you a saint so therefore you will need to say that prayer again and again and again as long as it is for things you did not knowingly do wrong. Now. If you know you are sinning and you think you can say that prayer to get you out of your sin you are dearly wrong there. You need a fundamental lesson in biblical theology whoever you are. This way of thinking is also what keeps people away from Christ and the church. Oh you say these magic words and you are therefore forever a saint and you will sin no more lol How idiotic can you be?

@@SGBass stumped you I know but hey I know I’m harsh with my words and bold because I have god in my heart and always have since I was 5 years old when my grandmother blessed me with holy oil and saved me then. I have been to the alter a few times since because I veered off path and came back to Christ. I was only baptized once because I knew full well the true meaning of it which most don’t when they are young. 2 weeks after Easter Sunday 2013 I was baptized for the first time in my life after I was saved for the 3rd and final time in my life. I was recovering from divorce, crippling injury in Afghanistan and an addiction to pain pills. That baptism literally lifted all that off my shoulders and gave me a reborn mind. If you need help TRULLY understanding the Bible or the gospel let me know

@@SGBass Romans 10:9 and 10:13 is IN FACT a form of the sinner’s prayer!!! You deceived Calvinist heretics need to stop lying to Christ’s flock. Also, you entirely ignore John’s letters.

The sinners prayer is not in the scripture in the bible, people should be instructed to know John 3:16 and to read the gospel of John- God wants all to believe and have faith that it is finished, Jesus died and rose again defeating all our sins, death, and the grave. Believing in Him, not words uttered or actions done- when you believe Jesus gives you a new heart and salvation. Galatians states it is by hearing through faith. Believe on His name! Call on His name! Either way Jesus saves 🤗 from the smallest child to the eldest
