Easy access to calorie-dense and sedentary lifestyle together with the modern epidemics of diabetes mellitus and obesity have led to higher incidence of fatty liver disease.
Even a healthy liver contains some fat, but if your liver has more than 5% fat, you may have some form of fatty liver. If that fat is accompanied by inflammation, it is called Non-Alcoholic Steato-Hepatitis or "NASH".
If fat accumulation is over 30% it is visible in ultrasound which we classify into 4 grades.
In this video, the second in an upcoming series on "Fatty Liver Disease", Dr Anusha V, Consultant Physician at Kauvery Hospital, Radial Road, Chennai, provides awareness or information about this very common yet lesser-known chronic condition.
