I’d actually argue that most occasions between him and his father as lawful neutral, because he either does it out of fear of being electrocuted or out of sheer obligation. Broly respects Paragus because he is his father and nothing more, you can see this after he is called to kill the beast before they leave vampa. Without any hesitation, broly sends it flying with ease and nothing more, and that tells me this same scenario has played out plenty of times, so it’s not because he truly loves and cares for his father, but only because paragus IS his father and tells him to do so
It was a Vampa Beetle, and I make this statement because there’s only two native species on Vampa, Vampa Beetles and Vampa Beasts, Baa is the latter. I’m not going to argue the rest of your comment, but I think that Broly has some empathic powers, and that is why he reacted the way he did when he saw Vegeta, Broly was feeling Paragus’s anger and hate as if it was his own.

And it makes sense when you remember that both Vegeta and Goku have displayed telekinesis, and Goku has shown telepathy to varying degrees.
I love how it’s basically a genetic anomaly among saiyans. Every saiyan has that gene to turn into the super saiyan, but it’s so rare to naturally use this form(thus the 1,000 year comments) but they all have that ability to activate it. Saiyans like Broly are just born strong enough to reach this level with little to no training
4:31 I mean...if you think about it A LOT...from a psychological perspective it KINDA makes sense. A LOT of horrible and traumatic things happened to Broly that day, starting with the crying, before someone stabbed a dagger through him and he was left in a slag heap on an exploding planet. He probably associates Goku's crying with ALL of that, giving him a deep hatred of him.
But like, could he realistically remember all that stuff happening? He seemed pretty young at the time, somewhere between a newborn and like 2-3 years. Unless sayian memory is way better than humans there should be no way he even remembers the planet he was born on, let alone his failed assassination attempt with an extremely thin link to Goku
@@theSparkyDub it would be in his subconscious regardless, and traumatic enough memories can last. I remember when my house burned down when I was less than a year old.
This has been my running theory for years, glad to see someone else bringing it up. Traumatic memories have a way of burning themselves into your brain one way or another and triggers for that memory can be all over the place.
Without even watching the video: Chaotic Neutral. An argument could be made for Chaotic Evil, but the reality is that OG Broly just does whatever the fuck he wants. He is driven by pure rage. Even his seeming enjoyment of making others suffer stems from the fact that he is just so overwhelmingly pissed the fuck off about everything.
I'd argue that is only true for his second movie outing. In the first movie he was only pissed about goku and spent a massive majority of it quiping and torturing others completely unrelated. You could say his sadism was related to his rage, but he didn't seem in any way mad when he crushed his father to death. Broly only really seems mad at goku and his transformation seems to have very little connected to his emotions, beyond the fact that he yelled while powering up. Sure paragus's story tries to connect his actions to his hatred and rage, but he doesn't actually even focus on goku while free instead just hurting whatever is in front of him. Second movie onward? probably just neutral evil, he loses all the sadism and just goes straight into random rage.
Loved that movie, and frieza's act was so perfect. I'd love it if they gave the rest of the movies the same treatment. Not saying everyone has a heel face turn like broly, but the depth. Frieza shows us we can still have bad bad guys... Japan said it so its canon.

I'd say lawful neutral, leaning a bit towards neutral good. He's proud to have accumulated his fortune through hard work and not more treacherous ways, thus I'd say he's lawful, but when he gets blinded by greed he'd be tempted to use more dirty tricks. He's too driven by greed to be completely good, but he's shown to really care about his family.
Broly has got to be my all-time fav DBZ character hands down, always has. I love how they especially fixed his back story to death but I gotta admit I prefer his old look to the new one.
At this point, I truly believe that the only time I've ever seen that big purple dude punching Broly and NOT heard a rubber duck squeak put over it was when I saw the movie in the theater. After this rewrite of Broly, he's now one of my favorite characters.
I could imagine New brolys transformations are the result of his S-cells being at a higher count almost like anakin had in star wars had a really high mediclorian count.
also, the original broly still has the more terrifying transformation, his body literally can't hold the power of the legendary form and explodes into it, i also kinda think the original paragas is better only because he didn't torture broly
Classic Broly. Choatic* Neutral. This alignment literally means, said character can do what ever they want for whatever reason, or lack of reasons, they care. He is not good or evil and can go either way if he ever cares to. Broly (Super) = Principled Neutral. This version of Broly is fundamentally a good guy but does not quite yet know how to be a good guy. Being "principled", he simply is his actual alignment with is neutral. This alignment is a function of his story and contingent on his relationship with Cheelai and Lemu. *I know what I said. TTS 4 LIFE!
Honestly, I personally disagree with Broly being the saiyan of prophecy being brilliant. It's part of a bias of mine, but I find the concepts of prophecy/fate/destiny to be bullshit. It's why I like the fact that we had a Super Saiyan Bargain Sale, it was basically laughing at the idea of "Once every thousand years blablabla super saiyan blablabla pride" Especially when you combine it with Freeza basically being a greek tragedy, how is fear of the legend ended up biting him in the ass. That stuff loses some impact when they go "Oh no wait, the prophecy actually did come true, separate from the rest of the stuff"
see. I kinda like that. prophecy is a great tool when your characters interpret it wrong :D it's like an aversion of "one often meets his destiny on the road to avoid it". it's the characters wanting to achieve something they think is a benefit but instead release a flood gate of problems

But to be fair, Dragon Ball is practically worshipped by almost every millennial man in Mexico that an event like this would have naturally occurred. Apparently, a way Mexico fought the Cease and Desist from Toei was by having bars, strip clubs, and any similar place where watching sports on a tv outside your home would be normal, and announced it like it was a boxing match to get clients to come watch the finale
I'm assuming this is going to be both Z movie and Super movie versions I think Bio Broly is a different character it's been a long while since seen the Z Broly movies, I'm predicting Z is pretty Chaotic Natural because he's a pure berserker with very little character. Super Broly is probably going to be somewhere between the area of True Natural , Natural Good and Chaotic Natural. Super Broly grew up on a planet where he have to kill the wild life for food and stuff which is an Natural act. Befriends one of them witch is Natural Good, and is taught manners and how how to respect people by his father and tries his best to do so witch makes him a little Lawful Natural as he does what he is told. Side note, I want to suggest doing a video on Ghost in the Shell's Major Motoko Kusanagi because I just go done watching SAC 2045 and was like hey that's a classic anime character a lot of people know and likes in a series all about human choices. Since the SAC series is well it's own series I can see that version of Motoko getting her own video. But I can see the 1995 movie, the ARISE OVA and the Live action movie being lumped together in one video. You could even try adding the Manga version.

@Mean Bob Untrue, kind of. A chaotic neutral doesn't just kill people without motivation. If your going for the true expression of chaos sort of character, then the dice has to roll towards good some times. Its actually why in dnd demons are allowed to be chaotic neutral and, yet not neutral evil until pc special snowflakes and special exceptions by dm's for storylines got involved.
4:14 This backstory always irks me because it easily could've been less stupid if they just did this one simple rewrite: when Broly cries in response to Goku, his power should suddenly flare up and only then should the saiyans discover that his power level is a whopping 10,000, that way it makes King Vegeta trying to kill him more valid than just jealousy/stupidity and gives Broly a slightly more valid thing to blame Goku for
Broly goad’s gohan and Goten into a beam/Ki clash, causing Goten to actually become a character and creates one the most wholesome and badass moments the “Son” family will ever have. Chaotic good and Nat 20 scene -Stuart and/or masako in the bloopers, probably
There's also meaning behind Broly. He represents the ideal Saiyan. Goku defeating him represents the new ideal of a good Saiyan overtaking the ideal of an old Saiyan.
I’ve heard theories that broly doesn’t actually hate goku for crying, but he has PTSD from everything that happened, such as getting stabbed, the planet getting blown up, and other things. And goku crying reminds him of that time, so he goes into pretty much attack mode when he sees goku. I thought that this was cool, and adds a lot more depth to broly.
i'd like to point out that when goku first tried to talk broly down, broly actually looked like he was gaining some self awareness back(meaning he would've possibly stopped) before his rage took hold again
Technically speaking. In pathfinder terminology, which is the only system I'm familiar enough with the make such a guess. I'd say Broly is a True Primitive Barbarian with some sort of unique template.
i won't ever forget the first broly, he still kinda scares me because of how strong he was shown to be, super saiyan can affect him, cell felt the hits from super saiyan, then there's the second movie where the only thing that stopped him was trunks distracting broly in the last bit of the fight, bio broly if they hadn't gone the way they did it could've been better
Masako should try a dbz/dbs esc campaign he could even call it what if saiyans were in dnd/pathfinder personally I would give them a more well defined culture and an actual pantheon like yamoshi the god of all good saiyans or sadalis the first true saiyan, oninis god of war and conquest, pepsa goddess of family honor and hospitality, and finally brolis the first legendary super saiyan think of him like the guy before broly but hey if anyone else wants to expand the pantheon and culture be my guest
Broly was only put in danger due to Cheelai... She may be less "toxic" then Paragus but at least he understood his son is so dangerous that he could destroy everything...
paragus also only saw Broly as a weapon and would keep him on a leash. I personally would like to have seen a redemption for him as well but he's still a plot device
Original broly Definitely has ptsd of some sort Being stabbed as a baby while having to listen to goku scream probably caused that. And the issues that'd stem from being shanked as a child. Alongside his legend anger issues and such. Yeah this guy is a deeper character than most think because of oversimplification of his character and his motivations. He's evil, but for more than one reason
He's literally a baby when he was stabbed. He wouldn't remember any of that by the time he was an adult. And you can't really convince anyone that a baby crying is a suitable motivation to hate someone. Like everyone says, if Broly needed to hate anyone, it should've been Vegeta
@@eryvac0074 we did see that kid goku's head trauma helped with him not remembering. As it quite litterally suppressed his Saiyan nature in both the anime and manga. And in the manga only rn(cause it hasnt been animated) the memory of his parents in the manga. Which admittedly has it's issues cause goku is shown as a toddler before he's sent off and a baby when he gets to gohan. Though the point still stands

Nah nah see, what you guys don't understand is when Z Broly shows up, everyone in his presence are catching hands. The reason was because his less controlled state is being a menace and a bully. He WAS an obstacle. You all just skipped the good bits like him threatening the slave aliens and just cut to him blowing up the moon. While most of the stuff he does is chaotic evil (obviously. He is a villain from the 90s.) There is clear bias with y'all rushing through and later calling them "the bad Broly movies" Not even a "Nat 20" for him killing the fuckin sky when he transforms

it's getting very difficult for me to keep up doing long series for this. especially when it's a series I have no familiarity with. I'm having to delay john wick a full week because I had to research stuff for it. i've seen most of breaking bad but doing better call saul on top of it might take a while. the two longest parts of this are research and editing
Is the center Haku from Naurto? Because he wasn't COMPLETELY true neutral. He disobeyed Zabuza's orders and never killed Naurto or Saskue despite it looking like he did.
