What do I need to declare at Canadian Customs?
Before you arrive in Canada and meet the customs and immigration officials, you need to
complete a Customs Declaration Card. When travelling by air, it is recommended that you
complete the card while you are still on the plane.
You need to declare the following to the Canadian Customs:
● Items that you must pay duty on, including alcohol, tobacco and gifts
● Business goods, plants, food, animals, firearms or other weapons.
● Any amount of money more than CAD$10,000 that you are physically bringing into
Canada.
Items from the settler’s effect list that include personal and household goods that you are bringing
with you or are following you to Canada should not be declared on the customs declaration card,
but on a separate document.
