What even IS the plot of Sonic Adventure? 

It’s wild how different the models are between the two!

The Proportions were blocky on the Dreamcast models, while the SADX models look like the game's 2D art, ESPECIALLY the shoes. Just add the Dreamcast shading and they're basically perfect.

@@BenkelmonkeyGaming It's arguably funnier in the Sonic X version since Sonic and Knuckles both wind up in the final vision.

I always got the impression that no one noticed anything wrong with Sonic and that after Sonic responded to what Knuckles said about Chaos, either Tails made a comment about how bad things could get and/or Knuckles remarked with anger about his shame of losing to Chaos like that and urgently getting up to find Chaos and redeem himself. So he probably rushed off pretty early on. After that, maybe Tails said something like “Wait up!”, “We’ll be right behind you!”, then noticing Sonic is kinda out of it. And/or saying “Let’s go find that last emerald, Sonic! … Uhh… Sonic????” And then noticing his lack of response like “Hey! Earth to Sonic! Are you alright!?” and then Sonic responding like “Wh-wha?”. So from Tails’ perspective, Sonic was just in deep thought and really zoned out like he was day dreaming.

I am pretty sure that the robots in SA1 are meant to at least partially share their mind with the animals due to how Gamma reacts when seeing the other two birds and their family picture. In the final story, they even decided to swap out the bird that follows Amy to be the Gamma-bird to give a greater sense of "Every playable character is here".

@@BenkelmonkeyGaming I'd say the story doesn't need to be changed, but I do think having a "Story Mode" should have you play all characters in episodic order. Not sure what Mission Mode should be done, unless you want to switch characters during gameplay.

@@codywinter4818 currently i just plan on writing the whole story as an ebook, maybe a comic if i find a skilled artist willing to come along (since i see most of what i wrote already as working best on a visual medium). There is a current sa1 fan remake in the works, but i want to finish 4 stories before pitching my ideas to them. Currently finishing Sonic's story and some of Tails' already in progress.

Yup, they're over the top and exaggerated but I love it when they do big crazy plots like in SA1 and SA2, but I'm also biased because those were my introduction to Sonic as a kid.

he was wanted in sa2 hence why G.U.N showed up on his doorstep (pyramid base) and in eggmans story you fend them off

gun's best bots just aren't up to taking out eggman in his Walker. Which really helps rebuild his eggcred after getting beat by woodland creatures so many times

Actually, everything is in order in SA2 and people clearly know who he is in SA1 but just very much had no military might because only the police was present(Heck, the Chaos-incident is implied to be why GUN got more active internationally, because they showed up almost everywhere afterwords until Unleashed soft/hardrebooted the IP.). The only issue is that they made no visible attempt to get to the Space Colony, an SA2 remake could easily just show explosions in the background of the ARK-stages and add idle quotes referencing their failing attack to fix this.

It doesn't hold up well because the arc from the game is just forced into a continuity that it wasn't meant to be in.(That also happened with the comics to much worse results) In isolation, the Sonic X-version of SA1 is superior to the gameversion in multiple aspects, though the pacing is worse.

The physics, cutscenes, and overall presentation is so much better. The original Dreamcast models are superior imo, there a voice line button for every stage your in. A lot of unused stuff that got taken out in the directors cut. The directors cut is my least favorite version.

Are you actually sure that Angel island was where Eggman's base is? Because the exit from the city that leads to the Master emerald(Which is implied to be the same place as angel island due to it having the same outdoors-shrine for the emerald) is actually into the same general direction that Angel island landed at in present day, not in the other direction where Eggman set up everything. Unless I am completely stupid. And Angel Island did infact land once prior(In Sonic 3), which would have given Knuckles some time to explore the surroundings inbetween messing with Sonic and guarding the emeralds. And if we consider Knuckles' Chaotix as canon(Which is still unclear today and may have been expected before Heroes messed with it), he left the island then and may have seen the mystic ruins while flying off the island. And if we consider the ending of Sonic Origin as canon, then...ok, I assume my point is clear at this point.

@@lpfan4491 Angel Island moves around in the sky. Every time it falls, it's in a new location. In S3&K, it was in the middle of the ocean, nowhere near any other landmass, let alone the Mystic Ruins. And, yeah I just opened Sonic Adventure to check and the temple's entrance, the snake head, which should be facing the direction of the Shrine, is opposite the crater. So you're right on that, my bad. In that case I have no idea how the geography matches up lol, I came to the conclusion that the crater was where Angel Island came from bc it felt the most logical. But we can still definitively say that where Angel Island landed in Sonic Adventure is not where it departed from the surface; the broken stone bridge that originally led to the shrine is facing away from the temple, so the orientation is wrong. There is still no possible way that Knuckles would have seen the modern-day version of the temple, and even if he had, he doesn't just voice familiarity, he states that he *knows* it, even if he doesn't know how. I'm not a Japanese speaker, so maybe it's less weird if you know the language, but the way it's been translated in accurate subtitles is really bizarre.

I personally just view it being in the Ocean and then not as a retcon, because the games never actually give the indication that the island moves that much, maybe a distance in a certain radius. But I have no clear answer to this bit, except maybe that the island has some sort of inherit turning around or is not in sync with the movement of the main-planet and thus landed in the wrong orientation.

You know, that’s a good point! I don’t think there is really any evidence of when Gamma’s story starts, and I based it off feel. With how little Gamma knows about the world, it seems like he’s very “new,” so I guess that’s how I came up with that. Does make Eggman seem like the busiest person alive though, he accomplishes more in those few days than I did all of last year!

​@@Euro.Patriot ?? sonic adventure 2 had boring mech stages and boring treasure hunting with 5 missions. adventure 1 has only 3 missions, tails actually could fly in the 3d environment, and it had semi open world, its a better game overall that sonic adventure 2.

@@Euro.Patriot the problem with sonic is they stopped letting the gameplay feel like such freedom, and instead had scripted and way more simple gameplay, but sonic frontiers is trying to bring back freedom in sonic games which is pretty hype.

I hope by now did you figure it out but its the past of the Mystic ruin in the time before Angle Island was created. The shrine era is the same one as you find on Angle Island (even the now cut off bridge is there ) while the city part is the same city as in the jungle of the Mystic Ruins by looking at the pyramid can you even see how erosion buried a full floor of the city under earth by now.

Well... he was likely going to do it anyway. Since the bird he’s made from was still inside of him.

I believe they actually unlock as soon as you talk to them. For some reason it doesn’t show. I once talked to Big in the background and next time I played before getting to the point with his notification I had him unlocked.

I do disagree with you on Adventures story. The only real issue from a logical perspective is Gamma on Angle Island but everything else its pretty solid. Even examples like the Amy interlude aren't pointless. Amy forces Sonic to stop his search for Tails which gives Tails the alone time for his character arc to kick into action, Amy's introduction is important for Gamma's story arc as well and even Speed highway isn't pointless. Its the stage in which Sonic after getting separated from Amy in Twinkle Park searches the entire City up down and all around for her as he knows that she is still in danger which both allows time to pass in the story overall AND show how dedicated Sonic actually is right now to keep Amy save. I think by calling it "filler" do you not give Adventure 1 enough credit.

@@rynobehnke8289 All the Amy-interlude does is give Sonic reason to chase the Egg Carrier, which already was his goal anyways and Amy meeting Sonic there is not even required for Gamma's story to make sense.(Though I actually agree that them meeting is better than not) If anything, it only paints Amy as someone legitimately undependable because she literally had the key to stop Zero: Sonic. And then she blew it because she couldn't wait for another 2 minutes. Learning negative things since CD, at least there she did not actively run towards an approaching risk of danger.(If we don't count the recent Origins-retcon that she predicted Metal Sonic first and just ignored it) Then Speed Highway is a random key card falling from the sky, leading to nothing happening and then Sonic returning to station square to see Zero carry Amy off to somewhere else...which if we want to keep the interlude, could happen right after Twinkle park because the implied time diffrence between Amy getting out and Sonic getting out would already be enough to facilitate it, if anything Sonic spending the time to go through another stage makes it *less* believable that he could have still visually caught Zero before he was already gone. Btw, Sonic had to run to mystic ruins by himself which already gave Tails enough time for his solo-section because that traveltime is already implied to at least be half a day elsewhere in the game, so we did not need another two stages inbetween to make up for it. Amy could have easily been captured after they met because she already ran off without him at that point and little would change in practice.

@@lpfan4491 Of cause its needed for Gamma's story not only because without Amy is there little reason for Sonic to not destroy Gamma during there fight but also because the difference between Eggman's cruelty and Amy's kindness is the part that really sells Gamma turning against his creator. Yes Amy was dumb for going into Twinkle park but she is also a very emotional girl before the retcons in Origins and upcoming Super star would Amy not start to mature properly until after the end of SA1 were he victory over Zero that was powered by her rage for the first time showed her that she too could be an independent adventurer and not just a damsel Amy doing something stupid isn't bad in it self its a character flaw that makes sense for her character at this point in time. The Key card falling isn't a story based thing its just a way for the game to direct the player to the next area. From a Story perspective is Speed Highway Sonic searing the whole City from dusk to dawn for Amy. Amy meanwhile took significantly longer in Twinkle Park than Sonic because she is much slower but got entirely separated from Sonic by going into the house of mirrors. (keep in mind that is years before Amy got Super Speed) We talk about Sonic the Hedgehog here he is gonna make the trip to the Mystic ruins on food in a few minutes at most. Super Sonic Speed is after all his main gimmick. If it wouldn't have been for Amy would Sonic with his speed no daub found Tails again before he even reached Sand hill.

I’ve seen the levels but I don’t know I I could do all that button pressing that fast. It looks like you have to press a lot of buttons

@PhantomLee It's a simple plot. Chaos awakens, Eggman has chaos, does shenanigansand gets emeralds and chaos turn big boss and beat everyone. Sonic simply chases eggman per usual and finds out chaos true intent and reason as to why knuckles race been wiped out. Knuckles is the guardian of the master emerald and chases Eggman too. Tails learns to grow and become its own person. Amy gets chased down for having the little bird. Her path of passivity links with Gamma. Gamma gains self awareness and executes his robot brethren to free them and learns good. Big is the only one who's unneeded but the story is SIMPLE to follow.

the flashbacks are the random/confusing part when actually playing the game, and not have a youtuber tell you the script.
