People keep saying cardamom is citrusy but I don't see it. To me, cardamom tastes like a more earthy ginger (it's in the ginger family) and has a slightly sweet flavor, but otherwise it has a flavor all its own. It goes well in baked goods for the same reason and ginger does, it complements toasted, charred, and caramelized flavors really well.

i feel its like vanilla. its used to round out desserts and savory dishes. and as far price is considered its only expensive if you buy small. i have bought it for as cheap as $5 cad per pound.
I am from Finland and for me it feels absurd that people wouldn't know what cardamom is. My late grandma put it in almost everything she made. Ginger on the other hand was a mystery for me as a child and suddenly it's everywhere. :D

Oh my, now that I tasted cardamom, I had the impression they have a slight lemon taste to them but mostly of mint, and may help with Inflammation like bursitis (maybe).
