I think its Wednesday? If It is..time for some mail! If its Not, then my schedule is out. Great question this week. What Frame rate should you use filming with your #Drone or any other #camera. #Framerate is the way you can get amazing slow-motion, but it can also be used for controlling your exposure if you've got the maths right.

Love your videos! Love your style and sense of humor! I think it’s amazing a lot of footage I’m seeing with everyone being quarantined here in the U.S. People are getting creative with content since everyone can only venture out their house so far. So another thing is that I love the way you break down things in creators videos to give pointers and tips to help. Would love if you could maybe pick apart one of my latest videos with my mavic 2 pro just to see what I’m missing out on and to have a different perspective on what I could be doing better. Cheers! All the best! All the way from the U.S.

@@IkoptaUk I do all mine in 30 fps, but record at 120 fps for slowmo. I just need to get some filters for my mavic mini now we have manual control 😁

I believe the other key take away is... all the clips in a video need to have compatible frame rates. This means if you have a 30 fps timeline and drop in a 25 fps clip, its might look ok at the start but you'll get an odd dropped frame\jerkiness at intervals. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm sure I've seen a Casey Neistat vid (back when he was doing a daily vlog) where he did this by mistake and only noticed after posting it. He commented the next day about this. Also, I do believe some modern editing software can interpolate missing frames to smooth out and simulate slo-mo when the frame rate isn't good enough to do it properly.

@IkoptaUk 4 года назад
Good points Alistair...Interpolation is ok, in VERY small doses.. but takes a lot of computing power and results still are hit and miss (odd ghost arm in the air)..😉

Excuse me Dylan, this is the second comment I think I’ve made on Yoo Choob. First was on another of your videos. I guess it must be love. Anyway I can honestly see this special little segment becoming an actual fully dedicate series. Don’t even worry about anyone’s questions. Just pull some random drone footage, Hollywood, small screen, random amateur footage, US Military, dodgy real estate agent footage, BBC news, whatever - and give us your respectful but hilarious assessment... it would be a Drone Goggle Box if you will. And obviously a bit hard for it to be a technical education if you don’t even know what drone is being used let alone settings but you would make me and my dog Otis laugh. You should move to Western Australia. Plenty of room here. And no Corona Virus. Don’t tell anyone though. Goodnight.

Frame rates. The film frame rate was 24fps. (early stuff 18FPS which is why many very early silent films always run fast in a standard 24FPS projector) The "normal "frame rate for digital cameras stems from TV rather then film . For NTSC TV (North American and parts of South America) they used 30 FPS because their electricity is at 60Hertz For PAL (Everywhere except N American and some parts of S America) they used 25 FPS because their electricity is at 50 hertz. So if you look for information on Frame rates US stuff will say 30/60 and everyone else will say 25/50 after that you start to get al sorts of wired numbers depending that you are trying to do.
@IkoptaUk
@IkoptaUk 4 года назад
Fast becoming a mute point though. lot of cameras capture video will auto adapt (to varying success )for frequency. The driver will be the TV Co that dictate the frame rate ..and that can be more about storage.. shot for a number of US channels last year.. they required 25fs1080p. Not interested in the final footage being 4k either... Storage/filesize will be the decider I think...

@@IkoptaUk unless you are shooting for Nexflix (who are trying to future proof and may want to release to a full size cinema) no one other than a few clients who like buzz-words and want to be trendy want 4K. On small screens (ie under 70 inches) 4K is irrelevant anyway, The Industry in general is shooting 1080p (most of the world's broadcast TV is SD and the HD is 720) Even in the internet 1080p is the standard. Besides most (all?) Modern 4K domestic TV's do a very good job of up-scaling. Unless you calibrate the screens using a hardware calibrate it is all moot anyway. For 4K to make any real difference to domestic 4K TV's humans are going to have to evolve better eyesight :-) Even though I have 4K capable video cameras we only shoot 1080p at 50fps because I have the space and it is a common setting for all my 5 video cameras. Frame rates are debated a LOT in the video/film world but it is becoming moot. Historically US tend to use 30/60 and the rest 25/50. Though Lord of the Rings was all 48Fps.(ie double 24FPS but they all come from a wet film background) As you say most of the time it is going to be about storage space (I am sitting on 100Tb of RAID6 storage but would need half a PetaByte if I was doing 4K) and computer power for Editing. Most computers can handle 1080p but you need some serious grunt to handel more than very short clips of 4K To be blunt there is zero reason for anyone with a consumer camera as fitted to DJI drones and watching on a sub 70 inch TV screen to shoot 4K. The only advantage is to using 4K is that you can zoom and crop an imperfectly framed video to it better for a 1080P stream. Frame rates. As Dylan says for UK/EU 25/50 then it depends on what you are shooting, shutter speed, and if you might want slow-mo or a particular effect.

#mail, Hi Dylan. I love your videos and your style :) You always makes me happy. I have a Mavic Air and I think about change it. What do you think? M2P is still the best or now Air 2 is the best? I mean the sensor size is matter isn't?

Lol, you do make me smile. I watch ‘how farms work’, love his drone. At some point, I will treat myself, only for odd playing about with. He has the DJI Phantom 4 Pro. I did look when out in Florida, but wasn’t sure if it would work ok here in the UK. I know it would need a different plug for electricity charging. Would be my luck that our 240 would bugger something. I so want to get into this flying for fun. Never filmed anything yet lol. So I don’t really qualify as a question asker status yet lol. I would register with the relevant departments, plus, obviously go for some training/tuition. Keep up the great work pal.
