Mate just thinking Charles lost does not mean we are Charles haters. A few people can be fans of Charles still and still be able to look at it a fight objectively. If by reading the rules you are going to consider a submission attempt as effective grappling, then takedowns is just as important as submission attempt if not more because it is written before "submission attempt". All the rest of stuff written in the rules is true for takedowns as well. The closest the fight coming to ending does not matter because the fight did not end there and the submission attempt caused no damage

It was an amazing fight and extremely close. However, even as a Charles fan, yes, Arman did win. It was close, but a clear 29-28. I think Charles will fight Gamrot next, and he will probably win. Also, Arman took the third round. You are highly biased to believe Charles did.

oliveira was different because he was getting beat up on the ground. he didn’t wanna throw because of the takedown threat. he did nothing in round 3 because olives got mauled in rnd 2. he didn’t wanna go back down there. he’s not used to getting beat up on the ground. i gave olives round 1 cuz of guile but other than that arman controlled every other part of that round. as for 3 then arman won. he did all the damage, he had all the control time. now sure he had a 15 second choke in but arman knew he was getting out of it. so he stayed there

MMA scoring favors wrestling too much. Two minutes of top control wins the round every time, even against a jujitsu artist like Charles who loves guard. Because of this Charles is at a disadvantage in a three round fight. That matchup should have been a fight night main event, five rounds.

In my opinion the only mistake Charles made is he was not in attacking wrestling, he was in defence mode, Charles should have shoot first takedown and I know Charles could take Arman down maybe not easily but he can then submit him, this is the reason Gamrot won against Arman because he was shooting first and make him tired.

I thought Charles Oliveira won rounds 1 and 3. He was crazy close to ending the fight.

My issue with Charles is that he is too hesitant to pressure and strike with Arman when Charles clearly showed that he was competent enough to sprawl with Arman in certain grappling sequences. Besides, if he's the one pressuring, it pushes Arman against the cage making the successful takedowns end in the center of the octagon where he'd have enough space to play full guard with his BJJ, or worst case scenario Charles pressures Arman against the cage and just shoots on Charles then turn him against the fence.

They need to separate striking and grappling in the judges. Have judges for strikes and have judges for grappling. Then we decide how much we value each and attribute points accordingly. 3rd round would have been a draw striking wise and a slight win for Oliveira grappling wise. It’s just ridiculous. Got people saying Arman destroyed Olivera. Uhhh no. Arman in no way destroyed Olivera. It actually was the opposite. Olivera handily won round 1 and Arman handily won round 2 however Arman shit the bed in round 3, and ended the last minute of the round flattened out on the canvas like a bitch. The judges only gave it to Arman because the UFC desperately wanted Arman v Islam 2. Hence why they offered it to him immediately after winning a razor close decision to the guy he said he’d KO in round 1. So yeah, judges are awful and Arman is not to snuff against Islam. Considering Olivera had this man at mercy several times, and he kept getting saved by the bell. Islam is gonna hurt this man after he obliterates the diamond 💎. Keep in mind I like Arman, but his performance in the 1st was good, but round 3 was just bad. Arman had top position and did almost nothing. It paled in comparison to the GnP he handed Olivera in the second. But that’s just it. Arman had some decent moments in the first( that axe kick tho) and a great 2nd but fell apart in the 3rd. The D’arce wasn’t in and both Arman and Charles knew it (which is why Charles stuck out his tongue for optics versus tightening it to get a tap). Charles doesn’t win round 3 after getting out struck and controlled on the ground. One desperate sub attempt for 30 seconds doesn’t outdo that (which wouldn’t even have happened had Arman not tried to finish the fight himself vs just ride it out holding his back). Same thing happened at the end of round 2 where Arman knew the round was ending and abandoned his 2 arms in approach on the ground. Good fight overall from both though.
