It's true that student have to learn the things, but why not make them enjoy it untethered of fear of mistake and judgement ? Also, the school in which I am learning is pushing Montessori method (socioconstructivism) and it happen that when I discovered her, I admired her work. You're right, somehow I didn't catch that the first time! As soon as he starts the V5 it definitely confirms it but I didn't realize until I went back and watched it closer the second time how many times he makes it obvious early in the video too lol. Though I wouldn't be surprised if the guy caught on pretty early but played it cool, it's exactly what I would do if I were him and I figured it out, I wouldn't say a word unless he confirmed it at the end. What an incredible teacher and advocate to gently guide what he perceives as a novice climber into more difficult tasks. This teacher needs to own his own climbing facility and he's an incredible example of what teaching, patience and encouragement can do for a "beginner". This guy is brilliant. Someone needs to give this man a raise and a promotion.

Would be awesome to see a part 2 where you do a coaching session with Triston giving him advice on how to improve his game!

That's genius! And the coach does 100% deserve it!

This would be awesome. I coached for a local gym when i was in highschool, i could happily do a V5 as a warmup at the time.. I learned a few things from Triston in this video, as crazy as that might be. He's a great coach, and seems to be a stand up guy.

You can tell a few times through the video he was getting frustrated especially towards the end, but he took a deep breath every time, and got right back into being an encouraging teacher. That takes a lot of self control and empathy. Good work coach!

This was hilarious. Tristan seems like a genuinely good guy, it would be fun seeing you have a regular climbing session with him at some point.

Hell yea. He seemed like such a solid guy. Patient, kind, encouraging, knowledgeable. Seeing Magnus climb with and coach him, even helping him finish the climb(v7) that he wanted to do would be awesome.

The absolute best coaches are the ones who care about YOUR success. At no point did this guy go "let me show you something"... love how humble this dude was. Hope he got some good techniques watching Magnus

I'm back watching this video a year later and hoping I'm every bit as humble as I was a year ago... and the truth is I've probably gained 50lbs of climbing weight and I'm even MORE moved by the humble positive support of this coach. 100% please find a humble person to coach you in ANYTHING you do... climbing, running, executive leadership, whatever... humble are the people you can trust
