I've always thought it was weird how fiercely loyal the overseers are to the vault expirement even after hundreds of years of no outside contact and vault tech being defunct
@@theaicommander definitely doesn't hurt that they get to power trip, this way. the overseer was really controlling and he seemed to enjoy basking in his authority/superiority. i mean, except when it meant his own daughter shut him out and closed herself off. but again, i think it's part of his controlling nature. total dick-tator.
I'd assume their loyalty to the vault experiment would be part of how they were selected. Also it legitimizes their power which I'm sure they're not opposed to.
The Overseer and Security are loyal to the experiment because the experiment grants them unlimited authority. The inhabitants are loyal to the experiment because gunshot wounds hurt.
There are some overseers who actively ignored Vault-Tec's directives - a prominent example being Vault 81, where the Overseer sabotaged the virus-making aspect of the vault, both before and after the Great War. Outside of lore, the rates of disobedience - especially after a generation or few of overseers and vault residents - would likely be far higher, but the game devs want the variety of a bunch of different vaults with different distinct themes, rather than coming across a bunch of vaults with similar stories of "they were supposed to do X, but people eventually rejected that and lived more-or-less normally from Y date onward". That said, I wouldn't mind seeing *more* vaults that did indeed reject Vault-Tec's directives, and went down different paths from there - some immediately abandoning the vault, others lasting as long as they could until they had to leave, and still others surviving to this day, possibly with all manner of new, self-imposed systems, some reasonable, and some just as bad as anything Vault-Tec came up with. Could be fun, too. :D
Amata: All but implies she'd kill her dad if he came after her while she still had the gun. Also Amata: Gets mad at you when you kill her dad when he comes after you.
Amata is a scumbag. When I returned, I wiped out the whole vault. I wasn't sorry in 2007. I'm still not sorry. She was never my friend. No one out in the wasteland cares about the vault. Unless you count those idiot raiders that were trying to dig their way in then got killed by wildlife or you.
@@Running_haitani except Gomez, and technically Kendall, who was just firm and too zealot in doing his job. Officer Mack is by far a complete psychopath.
1:06 she shoots the guard multiple times in the leg and he ends up dying. Always thought she was trying make him back off or just injure him when shooting him in the leg. The dads reaction though: Oh My God...1:09
@@GeorgeWashingtonLaserMusket yeah a catastrophic bleed in the leg is a death sentence within a couple of minutes, realistically though Amata would not know this
For what it's worth, shredding someone femoral artery is just about as good as shooting their neck to pieces. it's a huge artery and it's below the heart.
I do this every playthrough to make Amata get her hands dirty so she can’t high road me telling me “you’ve killed people” when kicking me out of the vault.
Why would you want that backstabbing weasel be your follower? Not only that she banishes you from the vault after you saved their asses by being ASKED to do so, that's bad enough as it is, but she also blames you for everythnig bad, that happened in the vault and scolds you once she is forced to flee from the vault and being attacked by the Enclave after you save her ass once again! LOL And she isn't even that good of a follower to begin with, her "confidence" hidden stat (usually affected by Charisma) is extremely low, so she always flees and runs away like a coward during combat! (I test this myself using console commands!) LMAO...i don't want to trust horrible person like that watching my back!...
Thanks for watching, I’m glad you like it. Fallout 3 is full of stuff like this, but they are usually a bit more hidden than in some of the other games
Amata: "Here. Take it. I don't want it anymore. I don't know what I'd do if I still had the gun and my father came looking for me." He won't forget you shot a man. Then again this is a bethesda game.
Amata: I'll meet you at the vault door. Me: Why not just follow me right now? We both need to get the hell out right now. Her: Na, I'll just stay sitting in this chair.
I remember when the game first came out and there were additional options for getting past each segment. First guard would let you go if you managed to kill the radroaches without him taking damage.
They’ve updated the game now to bypass the Games For Windows Live app check and to run on Windows 10! Once Microsoft acquired Bethesda they made it a priority to ensure their back catalog of games were in working order. After all, they didn’t pay 7.5 BILLION dollars to NOT utilize Bethesda’s full portfolio! 😄 Originally it was updated on the Xbox Game Pass PC version, then at GoG, and now finally on Steam. I hope this helps! 😀
Ah nice, yeah Fallout 3 is full of endless hidden little options but the game doesn’t tell you about them, you just have to discover them. With regards to the filter, it’s completely standard, this is an unmodded unfiltered game on Xbox
You can still save Officer Mack if you messed up and gave Amata the 10mm Pistol by running in and interrupting the conversation that they’re having in the security office before she has a chance to pull it out to defend herself with. I always try to keep the Vault 101 security team alive since they later show up in Trouble on the Homefront and are both non-hostile and able to be talked to during that mission.
@@theaicommander I hate to be that guy but in new vegas it would defo be a thing! Lets hope bethesda didnt miss this chance for some really cool dialog
@@theaicommander in some ways it is relatable to some degree, because even if you grew up with somebody, if something were to happen because of someone that was supposed to be important to Vault 101 decides to risk the lives of others by leaving. our dad when you really think about it he had almost just as much power as the Overseer, but one thing about any Overseer no matter who they are, nobody gets in nobody gets out becomes there number 1 priority. that's why he was even willing to threaten his own daughter in telling us where we are, but after the experience she had in helping us leave, everything happened so suddenly, when things happen so fast you don't have time to process it all. who knows what went on in Vault 101 after we left, now if your nice to her, she's not as bitchy to you, but she still tells you it's best you stayed away. it's a sucky situation no matter even if they added another option where she gives in and allows you in, i don't know how much we would actually care enough to go back. but after we find out the truth about our dad, that's the part Amata shutting the door on us hurts more. because if you can't rely on a parent's love, a close friend is usually someone you can go to, but not if that person is being so unwelcoming. so i think she probably needed someone to take her frustration out on, i think her anger was more aimed at our dad, but since we are his child, that's why probably she decided it was best not to let you in. of course you can always sabatoge Vault 101.
The overseer when ordering his guards to kill an innocent scientist: 🤐 The overseer when his scared daughter defends herself: OH MY GAWDDD AMATA WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!? 😱 Lollllll the best part of any bad karma playthrough is merking this hypocritical mf 😂
Interesting little bit of info and consequences I never knew about as I always keep the gun. It does point up to something that is fairly evident once you have done all the vault quests and that is that Amata is disloyal and duplicitous. I don't care which way you skin the cat she will defecate on you. Irony of ironies Butch shows more gratitude and loyalty if you help him. In any playthroughs of The Capitol Wasteland for the past many years I don't lift a finger for her I let Butch and his gang Bully her and just keep walking. When The SHTF in the vault I help Butch save his Mother. I kill her Father and Mack and hightail it out of there. I come back later and melt down the reactor. Later when I find her in distress in the wasteland I just keep walking. The Irony: I play a character so good I have to use a Mod so I can hire Jericho. This is I think the result of Bad writing and certain assumptions made at Bethesda. However whether that's true or not it is actually consistent with elements from earlier games. {You'll almost never here me say that} There are some very F**ked up and unexpected things that occur in both FO1 and FO2 when doing "The Right Thing" Also traditional RPG's favor Grey characters. So all and all I guess its a good Kick in The rear lesson for starting your journey in the wastes.
Everyone else accept amata and a few other wants you dead she not only helps you escape but gives you a gun and doesn't rat you out to her father no matter what she very loyal the worst you could say about her is that she is can get emotional in specially when someone she care about dies and can't think logically and objectively like that and her loyalties are split between her best friend and the vault residents but aside from that she try her best to help you and get the best outcome for you and the vault she does her best to look out for you and if you help her become overseer (at least with going around killing people because I don't know how it goes if you don't talk down the previous overseer) she promises you that you will be welcome back into the vault in the future because for right now there still to much resentment towards you and aside from the fact they may try to kill you in your sleep and it will not help the vault regain stability and she is telling the truth because even with a high perception stat you don't spot a lie or anything like that with her statement so she will and probably do her best to insure that happens to, honestly I consider the mindset that just because your best friends that you can never argue or get angry at each other and to completely throw there life away just for you to be a selfish expectation obviously if they are your best friend they should look out for you and you should do the same but you shouldn't expect them to throw there entire life away for you no matter the circumstances you should at least try to be understanding and considerate of there life and the things they care about and understand that it can't all evolve around you
