I recently discovered your channel and I am so grateful! My husband had a major heart attack 4 weeks ago at the age of 57. He and I already ate pretty healthy but very meat based. We are now on a much more comprehensive path in terms of our health. I am learning so much from you. I don't think I'll be successful convincing my husband to go vegetarian but he is open to 2 nights a week meatless dinners! Thank you for all the great information and tips. You are changing lives!
found your youtube channel today and im lovin it. Im changing my food habits. I need to loose a lot of weight and i was addicted to sugar, fast-food...altough i love veggies, fruits, and healthy food, it was more depression and lazyness so now is good to find channels like your to inspire me.
I just stumbled upon your previous breakfast video from this series and immediately watched the lunch and then this video. I took notes and am on my way to the grocery store now. I just have to say, I am incredibly grateful for these videos. I'm a new vegan and trying to go as healthy as possible. I've been scouring RU-vid to gain knowledge and I've had to take all of it with a grain of salt. But you are so immensely knowledgeable and break it all down so simply for us to understand. This is exactly what I've been needing. I, of course, hit that subscribe and notification button and will be binge watching all of your videos and telling everyone they NEED to do the same. Thank you thank you 🙌👏
Salt actually increases water's boiling point and so makes it boil slower. If you are adding salt for taste, wait for water to boil and then add the salt.
One Basil plant can literally give you over a gallon of pesto throughout the year. Keep the plant on the porch or veranda, if you live in a condo, like I do, make pesto and freeze it. I pour the pesto into ice cube trays then once it is frozen put the cubes in freezer bags. I take 2-3 cubes out at a time and add them to my cooking. They are great in soups, delicious on sandwiches and, of course, scrumptious in sauces. Thank you for the "Braggs" nutritional yeast seasoning tip. Eating raw vegetables before eating a meal is a really good tip. Your meat tip is really good too, however, i don't think I could give up my fish. Especially Salmon and trout. I was just talking to a friend about stopping all meat and chicken. I rarely eat them anyway but my fish is going to be a hard one to deny myself. For me, there is nothing more delicious than salmon and asparagus or trout and a good healthy salad for dinner. Carbs cause secretion of insulin which cause insulin resistance over time and obesity. 80% of Americans are struggling with insulin resistance and in a lot of cases full blown diabetes. We all have a responsibility to get that word out to people. Insulin resistance and diabetes is an epidemic and both can lead to so many health problems for the body. Too many carbs are not a good idea. It is very important to pick and choose carefully what carbs you are going to incorporate into the body. The lower the amounts of grams the better. Rice and potatoes are high in grams. The only time you NEED a potato or rice or sugar is when that it is the only food left on earth. Sugar should be considered poision by the FDA, if you think about what it does to the body. On a better note, your pasta dish looks and sounds amazing. I highly recommend getting a basil plant and make your own pesto to add to the amazing pasta you just made. Thank you for sharing it with us.
I gained so much weight and planning on losing weight soon. Your videos are so inspirational, thanks for all the tips. I’m so inspired to change my lifestyle! ❤️💪🏼
i like how everything you speak of has so much value. So many you tubers i've come across go on random tangents as if they don't know how to fill up space...which to me means they aren't knowledgeable . You have really quality content. Enjoying your channel very much :)
Officially subscribed-- love this channel, I can't stop watching! You're the first person I've found who's pretty much said it's okay to eat heavier meals at night. I eat dinner late (7pm) and it's always heavy bc that's how I was raised and I always felt defeated because I could never step away from it. Thank you for showing us it can be done in a simple and healthy way! XO.
I so agree with you about eating good carbs and not being afraid of carbs. I learnt this from Dr McDougall and I see you apply the same principles too. Good carbs keep me satiated and help me lose weight. When I was on high protein, low carb I was miserable and kept wanting to snack because my body was craving carbs.
I think I found my "Guru" in you. Everything you say, no matter what Video I watch of yours, is 100% what I am thinking for some years. I really want to spread that wisdom/ I try to spread it, even though I get a lot of contra from collegues. I am following a diet for some months that is actually like the one you propose on your videos and I finally have a more or less stable body weight, more power and less migraine and depressional moods. Now I found your channel and it makes me even more know, that I am doing the right thing. Thanks a lot, and thanks to youtube I found you.
I really love this video! I just came across your channel yesterday and really excited about the information you're sharing. I'm wondering if you do any videos for people that have IBS? There isn't much of anything that I eat that doesn't bloat me. But I need to start somewhere.
These videos are so helpful. Given that food combining can be a little confusing could you make more of these videos that show examples of actual meals using your food combining technique??
Great way to start the new year. Dr. Mona, you rock! What time do you eat your last meal? What time do you wake up and how soon do you eat your first meal after you wake up? Thanks
When we have pasta, I always put broccoli in my bowl then the pasta on top with my own stewed tomatoes with onions& peppers , Love the combination . Enjoyed your videos.👍❤️😊
I would LOVE to hear your critique and opinion on this Keto diet craze. I don’t think it’s sustainable or safe. Could you, please, do a video on this? Thanks!
omg i just made this pasta ( a few changes, i dont like mushrooms so i added chopped carrots instead and used whole wheat pasta) and i am so shocked how nice it was, found a new favourate, thankyou so much!
Love your video!!! but what about brown rice and brown pasta for carbs? do you recommend 'brown' carbs or is it better to switch to alternatives like lentils etc?
Hi Dr. Vand, thank you for all you do! Question: do you think that nutritional yeast is safe to eat. I had came across some of Dr. Sebi’s teachings and I read that it’s not good for you. What do you think. I am vegan and I too like the brand Bragg. Again, I appreciate all your tips.
Really enjoy listening to you. You are straight to the point. I've been on a primarily vegetable based diet and feel great. Just looking for more ideas for different dishes. At the moment, I'm hooked on brocolli and brussel sprouts...along with stir frys. Just recently incorporated brown rice and beans. Thank so much for the tips and I'm definitely subscribing. Thanks.
Hi, great video. Very informative. Would you consider making a video on incorporating more veggies in your diet for pregnancy (for women that don't like veggies)?
So with food combining, I know you say not to mix starch and protein, lentils are high in carbs, what would you consider it? I make lentil soup and I always add veggies including potatoes. Is that a no no? Thanks ❤️
You mentioned eating some raw veggies 20 minutes before you eat your actual dinner meal. Is that the same advice for someone who doesn't have a gallbladder? I have an impaired ability to digest due to my recent lack of a gallbladder. Also, as far as my pasta goes, I eat about 1/4 to 1/3 of a cup of pasta only, but I load it down with dehydrated "zesty cheese" flavored kale. Then I put veggie sausage on top of that and then pasta sauce on top of that with some extra nutritional yeast. It's so filling and yummy that way.
Salt is good for you, it keeps your stomach acidic, which is what you need to digest food, a bit of salt (choose mined over see salt) to your juice or water, plus the mineral content of such salt is an additional benefit
Hi Dr. Mona. I made the this dish and it was delicious and super easy. I couldn’t find the nutritional yeast but i used coconut oil and some salt free seasoning. I did use a little salt in the pasta. it was great
I just started juicing for health. I ran across your youtube and it is very informative & fun. I have almost cut down all dairy & meat. I started this new routine due to health issues (Migraines & High Blood Pressure. Even though I eat healthy and exercise and drink a lot of water and hardly heat out and I am at a normal weight, my health was not good. Are you strictly vegan? Is there anything else you recommend for blood pressure & migraines?
Hi Dr. Mona! 🤗 I just stumbled upon your wonderful video today👍👏😀! I love it!!! I eat very similar foods as you Dr. Great 👍, basically 2 meals, my breakfast is just like yours, with nutritional yeast 👍, I'm very picky, after 4:00 I don't eat anymore, I do close to 20 hrs mini fasting everyday, don't go to fast food places, or even restaurants, I also love your no make up look make ups !! I don't like tons of make up on looks, but it's there 😄, thank you beautiful doctor Mona, see you soon!
THANKS so very much, Dr Mona. All your videos really help me a lot in leading a more healthy and positive life. Am really GRATEFUL and THANKFUL. God bless. 💝💖
Thanks so so so much for the awesome recipe and tips!! Have you tried adding sun-dried tomatoes for flavor? Do you know if this would be healthy in terms of food combining?
This is so informative and great for people inspired to stay healthy. Thanks so much! Never knew that olive oil turns to trans fat while cooking on high. Won't be doing that again :)
I went vegetarian for 2 years. I ended up having organ issues which is a result of sickle cell anemia and being vegetarian wasn’t good for me , a holistic doc has me eating grilled fowl and fish to help with healing and protein deficiencies, there’s so much more the lands showed but I really hate eating meat! 😑
I LOVE your videos! Especially the health/food related ones. I trust your opinion so much! I just moved to a new town and they have a bulk food health store and I can't wait to eat all the lintels and quino that my little heart can handle!
I have Pancreatitis and I have been prescribed Creon(aids in the enzyme digestion process) which I am supposed to take before meals..Will the cherry tomatoes be a healthier alternative that I can discuss with my Doctor?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! BTW I just want to let people know I used to work at a pharmacy for years & the pharmacist knew better than most doctors that prescribed medicine for their patients... some doctors didn’t even care to sit down and talk with them and explain what medicine they are getting. Half the people that came to the pharmacy had no idea what the medicine was & the pharmacist explained everything it did and what was a Better option or if the directions the doctor wrote were incorrect .... so many problems pharmacists who care face && they help fix it ! So thank yuh
Hi Mona, Your doing lentils, broccoli and talking about eating raw veggies, you don’t get bloated with these? I do enjoy these foods but they bloat me :( how do you manage with that?
Hi - love your videos...but what is the snack you talked about at the start? Didn’t see you go there...would love to know your go-to snack during dinner prep!
Thanx so much want a diet that's all raw healthy just few questions I been watching Indian lady on raw diet and she suggests using coconut slices instead of olive oil in a bottle and to cook in clay pot not metal pots and last but not least she says morning 8 coconut water then 10 o'clock bowl of fruit 1 o'clock grain and veg 4 o'clock coconut water dinner 7 o'clock soup or salad your thoughts does this seem like healthy diet as well? Thanx
Is nutritional yeast beneficial to most everyone ? Also, I was under the impression tomatoes were on the list of foods that cause inflammation, could you please clarify?
The latest thinking is that eating something with significant fat and protein like nuts first in a meal is good because it reduces the insulin spike of the meal and also it reduces the appetite a bit so that one doesn't eat so much.
I know she's a doctor, so I'm trying to be respectful, but this woman exudes sooo much sex appeal. She has this calm, confident, feminine aura that is absolutely astounding. I haven't seen this for years. Good video.
I understand what you're saying about meat being acidic but some people have autoimmune issues and grains and beans will make them feel worst. I do think they are very healthy. What is your take on this? Your meal looked so good ;)
I understand.. everyone is different! That sounds cliche but it's just so true. Some people can't tolerate carbs or they gain weight, others can eat as many carbs as they want and not gain. This is generalized, and what I've seen work for me
So true. I have hashimotos and cant even eat cauliflower or nightshade vegetables or i feel like crap the next few days. Healthy vegan diet also gave me insulin resistance, because my body doesnt tolerate all the carbs so well. Its different for everyone
I’m no doctor, but finally someone said it! Bacon over beans? I stayed away from keto for a long time because of that logic... so happy I found your channel :)
Mushrooms are a fungi though so for some people they can actually cause a break out in dermatitis or eczema. Like most things less is more with this one if you have allergies.
I’d like to mention, though she is considered a doctor, she is a pharmacist. Not quite a nutritionist. Yes, many of these foods she mentions are good for you, but there are many more she doesn’t mention because she is vegan. Her diet may work for you or it may not. Genetics plays a huge role in figuring out what suits you.
How many carbs is in the lentil pasta? Love your show.... Really trying to lose wait.. Nothing really seems to work. I have bad craving at night. I also have lupus and high blood pressure and numerous other health issues so Ive decided to get serious about my health. Thanks for the tips....
Hey! Great videos, tips and recipes! Just one question, is inflammation the cause of all disease states? Or is it just associated with them? Perhaps I’m confused or not up to date. Thank you!
What if you're very sensitive to grains and beans ? What about eating for your blood type? Its seems all the avoid food on this diet I'm actually sensitive to.
Love this video, I like to watch my videos where things are broken down and explained other wise how would I know the nutrient values or information I never knew. Cannot wait to try this for dinner tonight. Thank you
