I am a gastric bypass post-op patient who also happens to be a primary health care provider. After many years talking to and treating patients on their own weight loss surgery journeys, I decided to have surgery myself. On my channel I discuss my own challenges, successes and updates regarding the process.

Glad to see this video! I was hoping you were going to do another one soon. I drink 1-2 small coffees a day. My GI doctor told me to put a gaviscon chewable tablet in my cheek and chew on it a little while I drink my coffee lol so far it works. :). I don't see the link for the podcast you are talking about. Please post it, I would love to hear it.

Hi Kaki , can you share a video about how you shop and if you prep for those meals. I had gastric bypass September 12,2023 I am in maintenance, and I don’t eat nearly as much as you eat. I just am not hungry . But I realize that I must increase what I eat I am 140lbs.

Sure! Congrats on your success! After about 15 mos post-op my hunger really increased- I think my body was telling me it was time to maintain :-)

Hi there! It was a Dive Bae- they have lots of yummy flavors. Very cookie-like in consistency to me. I microwave for 10-12 seconds and love them!

My program says 3 meals a day no snacks. I get full quickly but am hungry before my next meal. I'm hydrating. What difference would it make to have planned snacks? I am 12 weeks post gastric bypass.

Every program is different, but I can tell you from my personal experience that I do much better when I eat every 3 hours or so. I have done this throughout my weight loss and maintenance. I don't feel that a one size fits all approach is ideal. I do think that "grazing", which I define as frequent mindless eating can be detrimental to weight loss and maintenance but that is very different than planning a small amount of food every few hours. I hope that you find what works best for you!

hello - i'm going to be brave and jump in..i am surely listening to your number one advice, and hear you, but here at 9 months post-op (RNY) man, what is norm? and when? i am soooo out in the t-tails...i have been nauseated since i went on normal diet at 6 wks post op. Super severe the first 7 months, only now starting to abate, but rears up often. I have yet to really eat. I dabble at eating. I rarely, if ever, get an appetite. some days, i only get 500 cal in. If that. Drinking is difficult too - it all causes nausea, but a naturopath dr. told me to put powdered electrolytes in my h20 and that has been a God send. Liquid I.V. But i've yet to get all 64 oz in of a day. So. My doctors are flummoxed. And i'm told i will continue to lose for another 15 months, and then i will "gain back ten pounds". Thing is, i don't want to lose anymore, but i can't eat! i'm down 101# last time i weighed - two weeks ago. (I'm 5'9"). any ideas? - can you help? any and all advice is truly appreciated. i'm all ears. if anyone else is reading this, please know my case IS NOT common - and all in all - I'm ok, just would like to be eating. Especially those tomatoes...thank you.

Hi there! Wow- you are having a hard time for sure! My first thought is has anyone done an upper GI scope to rule out a stricture? I would talk to my team about that possibility. Good luck and keep going until you get answers!

@@kakisrnyjourney5376 yes - been there done that. they widen the opening exiting my pouch - that helped for sure, but did nothing for the nausea or lack of appetite...

So, you take other meds with your calcium? My dr doesn't let me do that since calcium can interfere with absorption of other meds.

I was told that the only things I cannot take together or within 2 hrs of each other are the multivitamin WITH Iron and the calcium citrate. Anything else in combination is ok.
@kakisrnyjourney5376
@kakisrnyjourney5376 22 дня назад
I do take other meds with my calcium. There are some medications that do interfere with the absorption, such as certain blood pressure meds, medication for bone loss, some antibiotics and thyroid meds, so many providers tell patients not to take them with anything just to make it simpler.
