Hey! So I looked into it and they are a local brand here in Toronto that only sell though clinics/ NDs, so unfortunately I don't think you would be able to get it in NYC. So sorry I could not be of more help with that! 💚
Hi Dr Claire - a new subscriber here from Australia! I'm going through lots of changes in my life including perimenopause and am learning lots about benefits of whole foods in this overly processed world we live in. Just wondering if you eat snacks throughout the day and if so what kind of snacks? I'm finding between meals I'm constantly craving snacks. Not sure if this is part of the initial journey of starting on whole foods or if I should eat larger portions. Any ideas would be appreciated 😊
Hi, welcome we are so excited to have you here! I am also so happy to hear that you are starting to eat more whole foods! So I don't really snack. I try to make my meals as satiating as possible; that way, I don't have to worry about eating between meals. With that being said, I definitely used to snack a lot more. Sometimes, when you start eating more whole foods, you naturally eat fewer calories (taking out a lot of processed stuff will do that), so at the start, you can get hungry quicker if you are not careful. I would recommend making snacks that are basically "mini meals", making sure you have protein and fibre in the snacks (veggies and hummus, hard-boiled egg and avocado). Those would be some good snacks, but in the meantime, I would focus on bumping up your main meals too. Make sure every meal has lots of protein, fat, and fibre, because that keeps you satiated throughout the day! Hope that helps 💚
@@drclairelockridgend thank you for the suggestions. My brain could only come up with carrot sticks and cucmber if which both don't fill you up 😉 Also I'm going to increase my portions. I looked at the salmon pieces you cooked and realised mine were only a quarter of tge size! Thanks again🙏
Love your videos. But I'm histamine intolerant so no eggs, sauerkraut, avocado, salmon, vinegar, muchrooms etc... Sometimes I have the feeling that my body can only handle sweetpotatoes 😂 Sorry my english is not perfect, I'm watching all your videos from Belgium ( not easy to find on a map 😂) Maybe one day you could make a video for people like me who are histamine intolerant with new recipes. Thank's a lot for your great work Claire 🙏❤️
So glad you like my videos! Oh goodness, you listed all of my favourite foods there! I can try to incorporate more histamine-friendly meals into my videos (but I cannot make any promises about the avocado, but a lemon-free hummus is a good low-histamine alternative!)! Thank you so much for the comment!💚
Hey, apparently vinegar and baking soda cancel each other for cleansing veggies/fruits? xx thank you for another great video, you simplify this so much!! Also wondering if you plan on ever exploring other culture meals and make them good for our guts? Like miso soup for instance? Thanks a lot !xx
Ohh, I will look into that, thanks for mentioning it! To be honest, when you look at a lot of cultures traditional recipes so many of them are actually really healthy (for gut health too). I would suggest exploring more of the blue zones because there are so many culturally diverse healthy cooking methods! Hope that helps 💚
Hey! So I do eat gluten! But, I definitely think that it can be beneficial for people to remove while working on digestive health/ other conditions! And then when adding it back in consider sourcing/ preparation and quality). Sprouted fermented ancient and whole grains will act differently then refined grains! Hope that helps 💚
Your videos have been helping me so much with making balanced and nutritious meals. How do you know how much you should be eating? Social media has really been making it difficult to know what is "normal" and "healthy", do you have any advice? I've been doing a course as well on nutrition to try and help, it's easy to become obsessive and overwhelmed, so if you have advice that would be amazing!
I feel this!! So much knowledge/access to information can actually do more harm than good when it comes to food! This is definitely something that I struggle with. After you study nutrition for so long, you can start to see food as numbers (both when it comes to macro and micronutrients). When it comes to knowing how much to eat, I think it's really important to listen to your body (something social media can teach us!). I listen to hunger cues and how I feel day to day. I notice that there are times when I have lower energy, and it is because I have been underfuling! It's also important to remember that food is meant to be enjoyed. While it is a tool to nourish our body, it is important to remember that food also plays other roles in our lives! Hope that helps 💚
@drclairelockridgend thank you so much for answering! It does help and it's a good reminder, it is easy to het caught up in the numbers and statistics and to forget to actually enjoy the food and the culture that comes with it. It also helps knowing that even people with the knowledge still struggles, makes you feel less hopeless hehe. Have a awesome day! And looking forward to your next video 🌼
