Script:
Sam Parr:
Reverse engineer your goals. 20 M at 30 meant he needed to sell his business at X multiple, which meant he needed X revenue, etc.
Ask yourself what you want your average day to look like in 1 year, 5 years, and 10 years
When someone asked about how to be great at copywriting he mentioned finding a brand or person you love and try to copy it for your own purposes. The key to good copywriting is AIDA. Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action.
Piece of advice before starting your own business. What is the worst case scenario that you are willing to accept? Ex; losing all of your money and having to move back home with your Mom? End of the world? Still no. That gives you the comfort you need to take the risk.
Kyla Scanlon:
Effects of inflation in the US and the average consumer’s lack of education on what is going on in the economy.
The Mitsubishi Mirage was the last car in the US under 20k and it has now been discontinued. Inflation has affected cars a ton.
A lot of Americans think we’re in a recession, but we’re not.
This can be credited to the average sentiment of news articles becoming much more negative in recent years, leading people to believe we’re in a worse spot.
We even see this on YT with clickbait. Graham does this all the time.
Andrew Yeung:
Personal branding
Identify your niche. What problems do you observe, how can you help?
Why are you the one to make content about this topic? Why will other follow you? You need proof that you are an expert on a subject.
Focus on being niche. Picture the one person you want to reach and make content for them. The less specific you are the more your content can get lost in the noise.
How to never run out of content
2 year test.
Problems you’ve solved. Topics you’ve learned. Remarkable things you’ve achieved.
4 TS:
Tactical (here’s how)
Trends (here’s the data)
Triumph (you can do it)
Theory (here’s why)
Shahid Khan:
Founder of Loom, which was worth about a billion
Build somethign today that you think will be relevant 5 years from now but doesn’t exist yet.
Guillermo Rauch:
America is the best place to work on big ideas.
Overall Takeaways:
You need to validate that there is a need for your product or service in the market. First do this by finding problems in your own life, and then ask 10+ relevant people if they feel hello my name is cameron galbraith
Kkhello my name is cameon the same way
What I Plan to implement:
More authentic content sharing my journey through life.
Make the most of my competitive advantages; the fact that I live in NYC, I work in an industry and at a company that is very competitive, and I have a strong network and an ability to meet a lot of interesting people.
