I guess, however the USA is one of the only democracies that has primary systems, so I hope hope that multiple parties would keep that tradition and not let a couple of elites chose the candidates like in the UK, Canada, etc. (I know about super delegates however compared to most other democracies they aren't that bad)

The Uk is kinda a bad example, since it also uses a first past the post system. Its just more polarized (like maybe the USA soon, who knows). Better examples are Germany, Sweden, Spain or any other European country!

Actually the UK is a constitutional monarchy, meaning any reigning monarchy is forbidden to actively take part in anything political. Voters have the democratic right to vote for any one standing as a candidate in their constituency, we vote for an MP, rather than the person who leads a certain party.

These proposals for a United States of Austria were actually propossed by the last Emperor a few weeks or months before the end of WW I , in an attempt to calm tensions with all the non-german and non-hungarian minorities in the country. Some say if this suggestion would have been made in the early stages of the war, or before the war, the collapse of the Empire might have been prevented.

Multiple parties might unironically solve so many problems. People would probably be less likely to be so damn partisan since there are a shitload of other viable parties that share a similar ideology and party compromise will be more required as opposed to two dueling parties with battle lines drawn. Kinda hard to have an 8-way battle.

I used to make maps all the time, trace a map of earth then just alter parts of it like alternate reality earths and I'd cut out a random shape in paper then subdivide it and move the pieces around to mimic tectonic plates and draw a world based on that. Haven't done it in years, wonder if I can even find those old maps.

7:57 As far as Croatia goes, this seems feasible. The only thing that bugs me is that Istria would be so much of a swing state. I don't know anything about the political preferences of people in western Slovenia, but Istria is the the most left-leaning region of Croatia. I can also totally see northern Croatia, Zagreb and Rijeka outvoting the sparsely populated mountainous regions. 12:06 is also feasible as well.

Yeah lol. I’m quite libertarian myself but that’s a gross overestimation of how many people would vote Libertarian if their was a multi-party system. The Libertarian Party would definitely increase in votes but we’d still be one of the smaller parties even under a multi-party system.

when there is no majority in a multi-party system 2 or more parties usually come together to form a coalition and these 2 parties usually share the same ideologies and then they form the government with the main PM or president being from the party with more votes

As a province that heavily relies on mining and agriculture, Shanxi must be hard Communist. Shandong would be more neutral, but still communist. Same thing for Liaoning, people there just love planned economy so that the heavy manufacturing plants and the mines can work better than now. On the other hand, Sichuan and Chongqing have a more "liberal" society in Chinese sense (which means less communist and surprisingly, blue in this map). They, together with Anhui, Hubei, Inner Mongolia and Shaanxi, would make the crucial swing states in my opinion. Maybe the Muslims in Xinjiang and Ningxia would form a party on their own. Thanks for the great work overall! This video actually makes me want to create some maps.

In the UK we are largely the same as the USA election wise. There are two main parties (3 if you count Lib Dems, but not really. 4 if you count the SNP but they are Scotland-only). We use First Past The Post system like the USA, and there has only been one coalition government, in 2010 under Cameron, since World War II. This is because FPTP makes it easier for a single-party government to be formed, in general.

You talked about the UK party system: Yes, when there's more than two Parties, two (or more) usually form a coalition, so that they have more than 50%. If one party alone has more than 50%, usually no coalition is formed. This way the legislation works way faster since a single party can't stop a decision.
