In today’s fight scenario we’re going to take something I would have loved to see in Star Wars movies. Anakin Skywalker vs General Grievous in Revenge of the Sith. The two had a short (pun intended) exchange in episode 3 where Anakin told him he’s shorter than expected, and Grievous wasn’t too happy about it.
Now, today’s video will follow suit with the last two videos that I hope you’ve seen already.
Let’s try to understand both fighting styles of Anakin and Grievous, as well as force powers, physical powers, and psychology.
Do you think Grievous could take Anakin Skywalker? Do you think he could take Luke? What about Mace or Yoda?

Herobrine921572 It would of been awesome if Ashoka was in rots, they should do a clone wars film like how they done rouge 1, or do 'Ashoka: a Star Wars story' and tell Ashoka's story after clone wars but before rebels. Would be awesome. Could have her getting hunted by inquisitors, have the grand inquisitor as the main villan, and a big final fight between Ashoka and the grand inquisitor at the end, could have her kill a inquisitor in a 2 on 1 fight earlier in the movie. They could somehow link it in with rouge 1 and/or solo, Darth maul was at the end right? But I think anakin was already on the path to the dark side, and after murdering the Sepratist council, he was too far gone. I reckon obi wan had a better chance at turning him back than Ashoka, but also had a better chance of defeating anakin (which he did) Plus if he never went to the dark side, we wouldn't of had one of the greatest villains (& costumes) in cinema history, Darth Vader!

Anakin would have never turned to the darkside. Anakin's whole motif was to save the ones he loved from death and that is where palpatine persuaded anakin to join the darkside so he could save padme from dying in child birth.

The thing is, grievous’s cybernetics allowed him to mimic a force connection, when mace windu fought grievous windu used his special form of lightsaber combat, vapad which requires a connection to both sides of the force but when they were dueling grievous started copying mace making his own form of vapad, that’s why even without the force grievous is still really powerful

My idea for their dialogue: **Anakin drops down** Anakin: Heya, General! Grievous: Skywalker. You’re persistent, I’ll give you that. Hehehahaha. Kill him... **Anakin chooses to fight the Magnaguards, instead of just crushing them with debris like Obi-Wan. It takes him a moment, but not long.** Anakin: What, that’s all you’ve got? Grievous: Back away! I’ll deal with this Jedi slime myself. Anakin: Really? Last time you tried that, you had to flee your own ship. Grievous: Arrogant boy! I was trained in your Jedi arts by Count Dooku! Anakin: Yeah? I just killed Dooku. I don’t think that does you much good. Grievous: Enough of this! **Grievous ignites his four sabers** Grievous: Attack, Skywalker! **Anakin charges Grievous head-on, rushing towards him. Grievous starts spinning his sabers, catching Anakin off guard and forcing him to stop himself, slowly backing away as Grievous advances.** Anakin: Woah! **Grievous merely laughs as he continues his advance. To his surprise, however, Anakin leaps over him and attempts to strike him from behind, which Grievous only narrowly blocks in time.** Grievous: Impressive, boy... Anakin leaps onto the platform and raises his saber hilt. "I defeated your master with ease," he ignites his blue saber while Grevious sighs reaching for his weapons, "I am twice as strong as I was then." Thinking to himself Anakin turns away while Grevious ignites his sabers. Deactivating his weapon Anakin reaches into the force as Grevious stares dumbfounded. With a wave of a hand Anakin knocks all of Grevious' sabers aside. Using the force he captures his enemy in mid air in a force choke. "You are no match for me now," Anakin states simply while force choking Grevious to death and joining the rest of the battle as if nothing had happened.

@Light Revaan A vulnerability is simply something that can potentially be exploited for a critically damaging effect, nothing more, nothing less. It has nothing to do with anything being easy or hard. The Death Star's exhaust port was a vulnerability, but that didn't change the fact that it was a tiny, hard to hit hole at the end of a heavily defended trench - and the fact that it was hard to hit and well defended doesn't mean it wasn't a vulnerability. It's the same with Grevious's sack of organs - it's well defended behind durable armor plating and a highly competent lightsaber duelist with four arms, but if it gets hit through all that it's all over for him. And that's what happened in canon - Obi-Wan landed a shot with a blaster square in the organ sack, near-instantly killing Grievous, whereas if he hit another part of Grievous's body it wouldn't have done much. Next time, think before you post.

@Light Revaan I'm not pulling anything out of my ass. From the Oxford Dictionary: "vulnerability NOUN The quality or state of being exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally." www.lexico.com/en/definition/vulnerability And actually, yes, being crushed _IS_ a vulnerability for pretty much anyone. If you think otherwise then maybe you should try spending some time in a trash compactor. As for Jedi not having their internal organs mashed every single time they encounter a hostile force-sensitive, that's actually an interesting thing to bring up seeing as though it's one of the most commonly cited plot holes in the entire series. Maybe you should ask George Lucas about that.

@Light Revaan Mace isn't stronger than anakin in the force. He's supposedly around dooku's level in terms of sword competence since books/comics say they often sparred when dooku was still a jedi. That's enforced by mace initially not believing that dooku could be the evil leader of the separatists and even calling him an "idealist". They were friends if anything. Due to his vapaad though he's just especially effective against fighters who heavily use the dark side while fighting which anakin doesn't. Anakin sometimes "taps" into the dark side. He didn't base his fighting style around it like sidious did. Neither did dooku. Anakin used form V, which is in no way a "dark" form. Several jedi used it, ahsoka tano uses it. Mace uses a altered version of form VII which is legitimately the form most popular among the sith. Mace's vapaad wouldn't give him the desired advantage against anakin. Anakin also had the highest raw force power of all jedi during his time. Yoda had the best control over the force. That's why anakin could've been a great ataru user (form IV and the form yoda uses) which requires good force power and advanced control over it.

None of it really makes sense. Grievous has no Force ability, which would make him very susceptible to force attacks. Just grab him with the force and toss him off a cliff or crush him like a tin can. Jedi are way too fond of using their lightsabers for everything.

Then the Jedi are still down a few masters, Have suffered a serious blow in prestigue across the galaxy and Sidious is still the supreme chancelor. The Seperatists need not accept any Jedi neutrality and even if nothing else happened the plan cost the sith no real resources of value and some other plan could work.

Then Order 66 epild have likely happened sooner, and Palpatine would have likely pushed for the Clones to have far more special ops troops like the commandos in order to ensure that the siege of the temple would be more likely to succeed. The reason Palpatine activated the attack on Coruscant was specifically because the Jedi masters were already spread so thin. Anakin may very well had not gotten married to Padme due to this assuming he survives the encounter versus Jango on Kamino, not sure if he would since while i do know he is slightly better in normal circumstances compared to Kenobi, not sure if this would had rang true in Ep2. Maybe him ending up with Padme would have happened anyway and he survives the encounter with Jango, in which case the outcome is the same. If he dies then Palpatine would had either kept Dooku or obtained a new disciple, and Kenobi would had likely died in either scenario down the line. oh and i suppose ashoka goes through a much different timeline in a sense.

It's somewhat straightforward: if it comes down to a pure lightsaber duel, Anakin loses. Grievous has every single form, kata, and maneuver from every single lightsaber style of both Jedi AND Sith implanted in his brain, and could COPY techniques that he'd never seen before as well. It was such a powerful advantage that even Mace Windu's Vaapad would have been copied if Mace hadn't disengaged before Grievous fully learned the techniques. The ONLY reason that Kenobi managed to beat Grievous head-on in a lightsaber duel is because he was THE reigning master of Form III, Soresu, considered to be the ULTIMATE defensive form. Grievous wouldn't copy Kenobi because that would lead to both of them simply standing there, waiting for the other to attack. Plus, Grievous is like Anakin in that way: rush headlong into combat, don't wait, plan of attack is just attack. As such, it was pretty easy for Kenobi to lure Grievous into overstepping, managing to snip off two of his hands in pretty short order without taking a lick of damage. Anakin, on the other hand, favored hard offense mixed with counters that lead into more hard offense. Grievous is tailor-made to punish fighters like this, since he cannot get tired and knows every counter in the book, so to speak. This allows him to pretty easily throw counterattacks at his opponents when they try and attack him, basically making him a Separatist version of Anakin in terms of fighting style. As such, if Anakin simply refused to use higher tier Force abilities beyond physical augmentation, he'd lose. The second Skywalker decides to break out heavier abilities, like Telekinesis and Force Grip, Grievous is gonna get ragdolled pretty hard. Really, it all comes down to whether Anakin lasts long enough to get over his pride and break out the Force, or if Grievous cuts him down before then.

Anakin would be stupid not to use the force. I agree with you in terms of lightsabre ability, it would not be easy for Anakin to best Greivous. Like I said before, by the time of ROTS, Anakin was very powerful in the force. And if Greivous pisses him off, he will awaken the dark side within Anakin. This is a big pobelm for Greivous. Anakin will use force chokes, telekenisis to separate limbs off of Greivous body as Grievous has no force shield. Even even worse, Anakin will potentially be lured to use force lightning. The moment Anakin starts to tap into the dark side, it's over for Greivous.

Star Wars Fandom: No. "But why not!?" Star Wars Fandom: No. I guess the long answer is because Grievous picked his spots extremely well, he was designed to keep Jedi off guard and his ability to wield a lightsaber proficiently WITHOUT actually tapping into the force to aid in the fight actually gave him a leg (and four arms) up on the Jedi that relied more on the force during combat than their skill at arms. Additionally, while the pushing and the pulling with the force is seen all over the place in the films when it comes to Jedi, the crushing and the choking is more of a darkside thing. It's one thing to crush a droid with the force (though iirc we never see a droid get crushed by JUST the force in the films - it's always something pulled or pushed using the force) - but Grievous is still organic and that may be a bridge too far for most Jedi when it comes to the dark side. There might even be something of a sub-conscious mental block for Jedi when it comes to that sort of thing, like how in wars of the early 20th century even men in battle couldn't bring themselves to fire with the intention of hitting the enemy. A US study after WWII shocked the top-brass, it turned out that only around 20% of men in combat fire their weapons with the direct intention of hitting the enemy. We later "fixed" this mental block through muscled memory - operant conditioning - but the concept is the same in this scenario. These justifications totally work for me to suspend my disbelief. Not Mace Windu, though. See the animated Clone Wars shorts - the last one particularly - Mace, being the pseudo-gray Jedi he is - almost crushes Grievous' organs, giving him that cough. (because I choose to ignore the CGI Clone Wars cartoon completely)

Well... I have a slight objection you've made on Grevious... His brain was augmented to counter ALL lightsaber forms if I'm not mistaken. This makes him more than just a battle Droid in of itself. Windu fought Grevious once, and Grevious scared him by beginning to mimic Vapad (Vaped?), And caused windu to flee out of fear of the tactics Grevious employed. Maybe make another video with this in mind? I'm curious to see how this variation of Grevious would play out (idk if this is Legends or Canon so ya...)

Honestly, these two should have interacted more, if just because of how Grievous was sort of a proto-Vader and their shared aggressiveness would have made for some seriously intense moments. I love the 2008 Clone Wars, don't get me wrong, but one of its many poor decisions was scrapping any chance for these two to interact just so they wouldn't end up contradicting the "You're shorter than I expected" line by establishing that they'd seen each other in person before ROTS It's funny how TCW took greater care in not contradicting canon than the Sequel trilogy did, even when doing so was sometimes detrimental to the show's potential

Anakin was said to be about on par with Jedi masters at this point in his life, which was pretty remarkable considering Anakin was in his early 20's. I think you're dramatically overstating his power, dark side or no (he was deep into the dark side at Mustafar and was never able to overpower or out-duel Kenobi). Sure, if he ever reached his potential he could kill Grievous with a thought but Anakin, at this point, has been overwhelmed by far less dangerous foes then Grievous. I think Anakin's mistake would be to engage Grievous head on in a duel rather than keeping his distance and just use the force on the general, which is something Anakin almost never does. He's wants to get in there and fight it out. And, because he lacks Kenobi's experience and mastery of Form 3 Grievous would, eventually, overload (not necessarily overpower) Anakin's defense and kill him. Like Windu said, Kenobi (not Skywalker or any other Jedi) was the perfect Jedi to take Grievous down. IMO very few Jedi could actually over-power/speed Grievous *in a duel.* Yoda, Mace, Dooku, Kenobi, and maybe a couple others including Palpatine, but not Anakin, not yet. Someday, easily, sure.

@@busiestnebula5186 Well, it's not quite that simple. Dooku is a form 2 specialist, which is natorious for its finesse but also lack of power. Also, Dooku was tiring when Anakin was just getting warmed up so just because Anakin beat Dooku and Dooku could beat Grevious doesn't follow that Anakin would beat Grevious. Where Anakin pounded Dooku into submission he would struggle to do the same against an opponate incapable of exhaustion. Again, I think Grevious would quickly force Anakin into defense and then eventually overwhelm him as Anakin's own defense is nowhere near as proficient as Kenobi and Kenobi bearly held Grevious attack off to the point of being overwhelmed himself and forced to rely on subtlety, something else Anakin is not known for.

Heavy low ball of Anakin here. Anakin decimated Dooku. People will say that Dooku losing was all part of the plan, BUT Dooku lost complete control of situation when Anakin tapped into the Dark Side as evidenced when Anakin chopped his hands off. For you analysis of Anakin’s rank among other Jedi to be correct, Dooku would have to be significantly more powerful than Anakin. This is obviously not true as he was quickly overpowered by Anakin’s offensive capabilities. After we saw Dooku rag doll Kenobi with the Force, it was almost a plot hole for Vader to never concentrate all his Dark Side energy into one attempt at Force Choke on Mustafar which would essentially end the battle proving Vader’s complete superiority.

yes, exactly like the fight with dooku, it wasnt an easy fight, but anakin totally destroyed him, an example of an easy fight was the duel with luke in bespin

@Toby Bowden It might not be easy to ace a test, but you can still struggle and get 98%. It's difficult, but you accomplish it with flying colours. In the same way, Anakin could struggle to find an opening for the majority of the fight but then proceed to absolutely dismantle Grievous when he does. In other words, it wouldn't be easy but it would end in an absolute defeat for his opponent.

Realistically speaking Anakin would struggle with containing Grievous's attacks. For an extended period of time and drag out the fight until the clones arrived

Also I believe anakin vs grevious would be even matched unless anakin decided to use a lot of the force on grevious. Otherwise I agree with the counsel that Obi Wan was the best choice... most otherwise despite there skill would have lost just been even matched with the exception of mace. Plo Koon and shaak ti I believe would of done no worse then anakin. The depiction of grevious in the revenge of the sith novel is still powerful like his legends self.. so that’s the grevious I still consider his actual “power/skill level” despite what you see in that Disney clone wars show.

Nah, keep in mind that Obi-Wan Kenobi disarmed General Grievous twice in a matter of a few seconds within the first 20 seconds of their battle yet Obi-Wan struggled against Anakin for far more than 15 to 20 minutes which pretty much proves that Anakin would be a far stronger match against Grievous.

I really love this video but it sounds liek you are severely underplaying greivous as a duelist. Greivous had speed that was almost too much for obi wan, and he was actually trained in all 7 forms. I don't think anakin would be able to chang gears fast enough to outduel grievous, especially since he was so brash and reckless. If he went into the fight calm and collected maybe he could win, but we rarely see anakin do that. Love your content just wish you had done grievous more justice, he was definetly more than "just a battle droid" at the end of the day. (legends grievous would obliterate anakin)

Yeah I think this guy is stupid and highly biased towards anakin, Grevious would of beaten anakin the only reason obi beat grevious was because he used the defence form. Grevious would be too fast for anakin he wouldn’t be able to keep up and make mistakes as for the force he could dodge it the only reason mace and obi got the force on him was by surprise. He said grievous would be intimidated by anakin and that’s not true grievous hated the Jedi and would want to butcher him.

Josh Taylor Too fast for Anakin but not for Kenobi? Anakin was literally beating Obi-wan’s ass up and down on Mustafar and Obi wan himself would agree with me. The jump to the high ground was a last resort. Without that stupid jump move, Anakin would’ve continued the fight and won. The notion that Anakin’s reflexes in the Force couldn’t counter Grevious while Kenobi did without too much difficulty is ridiculous.

I always figured Form III was great against Grevious since his main advantage was attacking from multiple directions and angles at once, which is similar to blocking blaster fire from several sources like Form III was designed for.

Grievous' armour is way too tough to be crushed so easily, and by the time he locks in on him, Anakin would catch 4 sabers to the chest.

@@rumsmuggler30 His lungs are under his armour and locking on to something with the forcw is not as easy as you think especially when its a living being that moves as fast as Grievous and you also intend to crush it. You can constantly see Force users using all their focus to just lift something up for example.
