He's talked before about how anyone can get a PhD. If you spent 8 years of your life studying genetic engineering, you would be highly knowledgeable, as well. Everyone just has different specializations
New plan. Make a troll level where every single path is correct and watch Carl freak out as he calls every troll. Regardless of which path you choose, something happens to make the other look bad. Then after a few rooms of this, have a knowledge checkpoint for the beginning of the level that takes you to the actual troll level.

I think that safety-coin softlock is actually ingenious - it means you can't accidentally start from that checkpoint prematurely, spoiling the rest of the levels trolls. It 'forces' you to start over, unless you're wiling to timeout.

Carl saying there is a chance that he is benevolent, me thinking, how cute, he still believes that there is goodness in the world, but he does not know that he has several laps to give to the level but now without a checkpoint. it's a truly evil level and I love it.
Here Defender is right in that troll levels can be art while Nintendo does their best to in no way support the troll level community. Why can't there at least be a "troll" tag and people who don't like those kind of levels can just pick off that box? They're morons. Great troll levels is basically the only thing I enjoy to watch from Mario Maker because of the creativity and the laughs.
Yeah, it's weird because by giving it a tag, they would actually help everyone, not only the troll community, since anyone who doesn't like trolls could just avoid that tag. Right now people who like puzzles have it rough, since most levels with a "puzzle" tag are actually trolls, they are the ones getting fucked by Nintendo not giving us a troll tag
Probably the biggest barrier to troll levels being acknowledged by Nintendo is that most of them heavily abuse un-nintended game mechanics, plus they are generally mean-spirited, which can't be allowed in their funny plumber game
Holy shit, what a beyond brilliant level. I can't even fathom how Defender made this. This sets the bar so high no troll level will probably ever beat this, at least for a long, long while.
Ok, I've been excited to see this video come out for a while now, since I may or may not have had the privilege to watch someone play this level before Carl did. But most of the time while watching it, I just knew it was going to make Carl lose enough marbles to host a national Mancala tournament.
The ‘no short cuts’ section is if you’re able to get on top of vines too in room with saw and sexy slopes. I dropped my controller when I seen that. Really thought I found the best of cheese 🧀, but was floored that he would allow one just for a message! Great job Defender!! As always a damn masterpiece
I've been watching these for a while, and I gotta say: This is probably the very best troll level ever made. I haven't had a favorite troll level until today. Truly, truly, fantastic. The upper limits of troll engineering. This man could be curing cancer with that big ole brain and he's using his mind to make us laugh. Sometimes I think humanity is worth saving. Thank you Defender. Enjoy your ban.
i'm pretty hungover this morning, so i put this on while i napped in a dark room. i opened it up at 35 minutes and carl has not gotten a single red coin this level is a prog rock concept album.
52:00 DGR is the only player I've seen so far who knew you could have just stood a little bit off of the cannon and still get hit by the fish. Then you wouldn't have had to ban Defender lol
I think Defender deliberately put less effort hiding the contraptions in this level. So that visitors of the exhibition, who may not be as familiar with Mario maker level construction, mechanics, and limitations, can get a small glimpse of just how much work goes into making the level do the funny. If that is the case, nicely done.
54:10 This is beyond STEVO. This is like that Trixtan level that Juz got absolutely destroyed on a couple weeks ago. Defender truly gave into the darkside.
This level was AMAZING, but then that extra spice made it a MASTERPIECE. Kudos to Defender and everybody who participated into making this. This right here is peak performance. It's going to take something HUGE to top this level. SPOILERS AFTER THIS DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE VIDEO/LEVEL: of course, by "extra spice" I mean larl's replay and the 'no shortcuts'. I physically applauded when that happened. Holysmokes that was the cherry on top of the best sundae i've ever seen.
You can exit right in front of the saw above the door with a star from one of the sections. Maybe there is a noteblock with a fireball behind the saw, and it will destroy a melty coin on top of the door
This is genuinely astounding intellect. Is it just a game? Sure. But to be able to create those types of contraptions and play such big brain psychological plays on people is truly truly amazing. Defender must be a certified genius irl

He even stopped a bit before hitting the 4th one, so there was even more time to notice than between the first 3. And that makes it all the more hilarious when he got blocked.
i don't actually mind the videos being in 720p because A) SMB-SMW aren't really affected and most troll levels are in those game styles B) My monitor is 1440p so 1080p videos look a little blurry C) its not that big of a difference anyways also watched the vid on the science channel and it's really fun! loved it!

He actually is right pretty often in small trolls But only one step ahead while level creator is though of more. So he can dodge one troll, but instantly get dunked by consecutive troll

I played this and it took me 2hours 10 minutes.. There was much pain, and while I congratulate you for dodging some trolls (like carrying the P switch), at least I didn't hit the marked blocks under the goal! GG!
