​@@pkunavo8427 Yeah, I tend to agree with most smash moveset ideas for the Knight, except for the final smash. I imagine the Knight teleporting into the background of the stage, before the Void slowly rises from below, darkening the stage, silencing the music, and hiding the background and the Knight from view, with a brief period of anticipation before the Shade Lord appears with a flash of light and a terrifying roar. It then functions like Bowser's final smash, with a moveable target appearing that deals AoE damage upon activation. The difference is it's a flurry of slashes instead of a single punch, dealing less damage per strike, but dealing more damage overall as time goes on. It can also be moved during the activation time, though slowly.

honestly the only thing that would be missing is sealed vessel instead of one of the other songs. that in the OST actually includes all of the ending themes as well as the starting cutscene themes and would be really noice.

Why did you use Roy instead of Lucina to reference Hornet? She has a red alt that matches Hornet more than any of Roy’s, and Roy and Lucina have very similar movesets.

That animation at the beggining was outstanding! Also, I think that it would make sense that the up-B gave The Knight a small boost if performed in the air, such as ultimate Yoshi's up-B, not having double jump armor or such floatiness such as Yoshi would make it hard to recover even with a good double jump

You make a good point about his lack of floatiness compared to Yoshi. The Knight needs more jumps if he doesn't want a proper recovery for the Knight.

I think I would’ve replaced the relatively uninspired “upward Great Slash” and just made the up smash Howling Wraiths, where it would act like Mewtwo’s multihit up smash, and then replace the Knight’s up special with an actual recovery, the safe route something based on how it flies with the Monarch Wings to replicate Inklings’ super jump. But in my opinion, it would be cool to have a recovery similar to Pit’s old recovery where the Knight flies around as its Shade for a while, maybe it can even use its specials while it does this, but if its shade gets hit it takes way more damage in exchange? Or maybe the amount of time the Shade can fly is directly tied to its Soul, so using specials during that would obviously be real risky considering it’s basically dead in the air if its soul runs out mid-flight, not to mention using Desolate Dive off the edge is pretty much a suicide bomb. Maybe do something like what R.O.B. has give it a free second or half-second after it runs out of Soul so you’re not COMPLETELY helpless if you get knocked off without any.

i think that they should give him crystal dash, but like not taking ten years to launch, and make it only go horizontally, AND MAKE IT TO WHERE IT DOESN'T FREE FALL YOU LIKE IN THE GAME. also make it to where hitting down air regives monarch wings. That will make him have a cool uno reverse card that could be used for air shenanigans.

I’d change a few things about how the Knight is used, mainly, • Make the soul more like how it is in the game. Vengeful spirit and Focus will be mapped to the same button (neutral B) and Focus will heal health instead of soul. Any Nail attack will increase your soul meter by a bit, with multi-hit attacks like the Cyclone Slash not filling it up as much per hit. • This allows for other changes, easier Kirby implementation, and a new Side-B, which I think should be the shade cloak that could potentially have Sharp-Shadow properties. • Move Abyss Shriek to up smash and make a new recovery, perhaps an upwards crystal dash or a teleportation recovery with the Dreamgate ability. This makes the soul moves a bit more confusing, but I think having a better recovery would be worth it in the end. •The Classic route could possibly be revamped into something akin to the Pantheons. The general order would vary a bit because of this. Mainly with classic though, I think you should fight Galeem at the end, not a big Palutena. •Two tracks that I really think should be in are Sealed Vessel and White Defender, with Sealed Vessel dynamically changing when someone gets to their last stock • I’d swap the Radiance alt for a Lifeblood one, which gives more variety and allows all updates to be represented in the costumes (assuming we count the Seer as Hidden Dreams content since they give you the Dreamgate)

I think that like in the game the focus heals you and takes away soul to make the character a little bit harder to play. kind of high risk-high reward.

Maybe make the knight get a very small amount of soul when hit like if yiu were using the grub charm. With the specials I actually prefer the Yoshi route as having Howlling Wraits/Abyss Shriek disjointed into up smash would be impractical. The up smash, however, could be changed from a great slash but upwards to what the Broken Vessel does swingin' the nail multiple times from side to side. I do agree that Focus should just heal you for set amount. It also consumes one third too. The reason I want the Yoshi type of move squeme is for the down aerial to not only boop you up but to also give you back your improved double jump if you already used it. Also I want to incorporate the abyss version of the spells so you can charge them up like a smash attack but will take half of your soul metter for balancing reasons.

I think a good air jump isn’t exactly enough, I think his air dodge should particularly be really really good and work exactly like his shade cloak. He goes really far in which ever direction and goes through enemies as long as his shade cloak recharged, if it isn’t it will be a regular dash which means he’ll still be able to be hit while dashing. His shield dodges should also be with the shade cloak. Also, instead of focus charging up the soul meter it should work like in the game, it takes a while to charge but heals you a bit. Maybe heals like 10%? It takes up the same amount of soul as the other B attacks which means the only way to get soul is to strike enemies like in the game. If there absolutely has to be a rechargeable soul meter then perhaps move that to shield+B?

Highly highly recommend playing it! It’s also on switch and I’m pretty sure it’s also on ps4 (could be wrong in that one). So platform shouldn’t be a problem

I play it on ps4, and I have to say, out of all the games I’ve EVER PLAYED (Minecraft, god of war, rainbow six siege, fortnite plus apex, jumpforce and more, HollowKnight was the best out of all by far.

Notes: Should have Shape of Unn as a crawl. Down air should give the Knight back his double jump and air dodge [see below] if it comes into contact with something, as well as having a very weak meteor effect on the bottom tip and making the knight bounce up about half of his double jump. Not having a recovery special seems sus. I think the more likely way to handle it would be to have up special be a tether with the Knight's shade tentacle thing, have neutral special be howling wraiths, down special be desolate dive, and side special be Vengeful Spirit. Keep the soul meter and have grounded down special charge it, overcharging it summons Glowing Womb hatchlings to appear each time you would get another level of charge. The hatchlings deal low (~3%) damage and give only a couple frames of hitlag without interrupting the hit character's action and without effecting move staling. If you don't have soul, the specials come out weaker (the basic white versions of them), but if you do have soul they come out as the stronger dark version and consume 1/3 of your soul meter. Besides soul, I think his other defining characteristic should be to have a different air dodge than the rest of the cast. Instead of the standard, his air dodge should be normal if activated with no direction or angled up but if angled down or sideways should instead give a mothwing cloak dash. If you have soul and preform an air dodge while also holding attack, the dodge comes out as a shade cloak dash with extended range and a low damage, low knockback hitbox during invulnerability frames and reduced landing lag, allowing The Knight to have a limited use wavedash as a specific movement option by consuming soul that can also be used as a combo tool. You could further reduce his ground speed to balance this, making him a slower character with a wavedash-esque movement option tied to a resource so he can close the distance on zoners or get some breathing room against rushdown characters. Given that, if you have hatchlings, they should rest on the ground when he taunts but otherwise fly around him slowly, lagging behind as he moves and overshooting once they catch up, then homing in on the opponent if they get too close.

Really interesting concept! Few small additions/changes I would make - The Baldur Shell charm should appear when the knight shields or does a perfect shield - The roll animation should resemble dashing with mothwing/shade cloak - The neutral special "focus" should work more like it does in hollow knight. You can only gain soul by striking enemies with neutral attacks, but by holding B you can recover some percent (or HP on stamina battles). The damaging specials could be made more powerful to account for being able to use them less frequently.

I enjoyed this video! There were some really cool ideas in here, and I hope that this character becomes playable in smash in some form or another (seriously, if Minecraft Steve can enter than so can the Knight). There were only a few things I would like to change, though: I always thought that the Embrace The Void ending's Shade Lord scene would be an amazing final smash for the knight, as it's visually just cooler than Dream No More ending. For example, you could use the dream nail to activate the ability (just as you proposed) but the shade lord would appear rather than HK's and the Knight's shades, which would perform its claw swipe animation, dealing lots of damage and launching the enemy upon the smash attack's end. I also think it could be entertaining if you could use the shadow versions of the normal spells with a full spell meter (but consume the entire meter upon use). These shadow versions would do much more damage than their normal variants and would be larger to make up for their high cost. I swear if they add Lightning McQueen as the final DLC character I am going to lose my

I’m gonna be real with you- I wanted to embrace the void at first, but dream no more is just more iconic. Hell, Bee and I made sketches for the ending, and it basically plays out in the same way that you’d expect. Also for the spells, originally there was that as well, but then I thought about it more, and especially since I wanted vengeful spirit to be a neat horizontal recovery tool as well, having 3 times the amount of push is better than one bigger one if that makes sense. Hell I even posted the part of the script where I said that on the discord if you wanna read up on that haha. If lightning McQueen gets in, I will eat my shirt.

Toxiquid yeah, it does make a lot of sense not to add the more intense features. I was more leaning towards just adding game features into smash anyways, and it probably wouldn’t be very balanced to have the shadow spells. They could probably just get a visual change with a void skin or something anyways. I can tell you put a lot of effort into the video, though. I’m going to be happy as long as the Knight gets added to the game in any form anyways, so long as Lightning McQueen doesn’t get added.

Really amazing character concept. I had a concept written up for The Knight's move set that was a little different from yours, but probably about 85% the same. I think I had some of The Knight's smash attacks also consume the soul meter, which was one of the differences between your idea and mine. I think I also had one of The Knight's taunts be "healing focus" that heals 1%, since it always felt like I was tempting fate trying to heal during a boss fight in Hollow Knight. But like you said, The Knight plays like he's ready to be a Smash character. While I was watching, an idea popped into my head for Byleth only using spear attacks to be the stand-in for the mantis lords, but then I remembered Byleth is a DLC character. >_< Also, if we get The Knight, I want a Hornet mii costume.

For the Hornet fight, instead of Roy, it’s a mii fighter with a Hornet costume that uses Gale Stab. On a larger note: I have a completely different vision for the Soul Meter and specials. Soul Meter: It has values from 1-99. You gain 11 soul per hit, but do not gain any from being hit. Spells cost 33, but if you have a full meter, spells drain all soul for void enhanced versions. Neutral B: All spells are mapped to B. While holding b, a select wheel cut up into 4 sections appears around the Knight. The icons for each spell are on their respective sections with left and right having mirrored icons for Vengeful Spirit (Or Shade Soul if you have full meter). The wheel is translucent and the icons are dulled out when you have 32 soul or less. To use a spell, while the select wheel is up, just tap the analog or c stick in the direction of the spell you wish to use. Side B - Crystal Dash: you can charge it like Ike’s and jump-cancel out of it. It has an outward sending weak hitbox upon release and another one on the Knight’s head while traveling. If you knock into someone, it will interrupt the move and give you extra end lag. This hitbox does 1.2% flat and it’s knock back is very small and does not scale with %. Up B - Dream Gate: basically Palutena’s up b, but it’s animated similarly to when you use it in HK. Down B (Grounded) - Focus: When grounded, you focus like in the game. You’re stuck in a vulnerable animation while you slowly use soul during its duration. If interrupted, soul is lost. When completed, you restore some percent. (I don’t know how much would be balanced, so I’m not throwing out a number.) Also, I would add that his down air is similar to the Pits where the side hit boxes launch upward, but with less knock back, allowing you to combo it into itself or other things more easily. I have other ideas, but I’m leaving it there. I like the video overall. I’m curious what you think of some of my thoughts.

an alternative for classic mode is a themed one rather then referencing specific fights, namely: sealing the infestation, where you fight foes that either use or have been controlled by some form of corruption: namely(in no particular order) king dedede referencing his possession by dark matter inkling referencing agent 3s sanitation ganondorf+some yiga class mii sword fighters referencing the malice dark samus+Ridley in his mecharidley alt being phazon incarnate and the phazon corrupted omega ridley a hoard of mr game and watch referencing his role in the creation of the shadowbugs in subspace) a duel with a giant Knight in the Hollow knight skin, referencing the hollow knight itself and finally a boss battle with galeem, referencing both galeems own role as a corrupter of the smash world and the radiance

I have so many ideas to add so let's get started: When the soul meter is full and you try to use the neutral special B (focus) instead of gaining more soul, you subtract a percentage of notable damage (-25%) but doing so will completely consume the soul meter and when it turns to try to subtract a percentage, the amount will be smaller each time (-25% -12% -5.5%) When the knight tries to dodge on the stage, a platform or in the air, he will execute a dash (the shade cloak) that serves a unique evasive ability in smash. And just like in the game, the shade cloak will give you a chance to not only dodge attacks and projectiles but also aggressively approach an opponent. Having fewer frames per attack but being a risky move due to the penalty for continuously dodging. The advantage of attacking quickly after dodging will only be possible if the knight dash from the front. You can dash backwards like in the demo of hollow knight but it doesn't give you a chance to attack. It will also be a very viable horizontal recovery tool If the knight exceeds 100% damage (or has less than 50 health points) his standard pose will change as it does in the game when he is only one health mask away from dying. Then he will activate in combat a passive ability, similar to terry, that empowers his spells with Void. All its specials will be significantly improved and the effect of sharp shadow will be added to the shade cloak, allowing damage to be done when passing over enemies. There will be Void around the knight to confirm its activation. And if he dies or his damage percentage is less than 100%, the ability is deactivated, along with visual effects such as his pose or the void. I've always thought the Godmaster DLC Arena would be the perfect stage for Smash, because then its aesthetic would randomly change between a few predetermined styles that as a whole represent the beautiful art style of the game PLUS maybe a different boss doing some cool stuff in the background depending on the aesthetic selected...?

The victory screen can also be either a version of the first ending with the smash logo being sealed (your thumbnail basically) or knight falling sleep on a bench next to Quirrel as it does in the city of tears! I can definitely not imagine the knight clapping when it loses, it's just too cute/funny

If the Knight would be a real thing in smash, I'd like to have the upgraded spells (such as Abyss Shriek, etc.) to replace the basic spells after a certain damage percentage and/or a Charms management (something like Shulk's Arts), btw good job!

I remember about a year ago this one time at Comic-Con, I met this guy at a booth where he sold oil pastel paintings with certain characters on them. But I saw that there were Hollow Knight characters he did and I came up to him and asked about the game to him. Back then, I was somewhat new to Hollow Knight, but I had already played through a lot of the game. I was really surprised but excited because I honesty didn't expect there to be some fellow Hollow Knight fans there. I actually wanted to look for people who knew the game, but didn't really think there would be. However, there were actually a lot of people who played the game! But about that guy I was talking with, I heard him talk about the Knight being in Smash, and how all the move sets are perfect for it. I hadn't thought about that before, but after reconsidering it, it actually made a lot of sense. It seemed sort of strange at first, but after watching this video, I am absolutely sold on the idea! Now I'm totally rooting for a Hollow Knight crossover with Smash! Thank you so much for making this video, and it was really fun, entertaining, and interesting to watch. This was a truly amazing video! Also, you have a new subscriber 😁

I personally think the gimmick should be that you can temporarily sit on a bench and change your charm combos from 3 options: agility/recovery (Sprintmaster, dashmaster, sharpshadow) Strength: (unbreakable strength, long nail, quick slash, heavy blow,) Defense (quick focus (which would allow you to heal a little while holding special), baldur shell, thorns of agony)

Another idea i had for the hollow knight's final smash comes from the embrace the void ending were the the knight would do some sort of AoE attack that can pull in multiple fighters and and the lord of shades would burst out from the knight hold down the fighters while it does its iconic slashes and then pulls the fighters into the void P.s it would also be cool if they add the knight's parry ability

Brilliant video man. But, if I may add some changes of my own, I would implement a grab involving Hornet tieing down the opponent, allowing the Knight to strike said opponent. Referencing how Hornet ties down the Hollow Knight in order to allow the Knight to dream nail him and fight the Radiance. as well as replacing the city of tears stage with Grimm's stage, (although it may be a bit boring in terms of functionality, I do think it has so much personality, you know). Other than those little tidbits, excellent video.

I really love your ideas! Just 3 that i would change in my opinion: The grubberfly elegy feels weird in the back throw because it's more of a "passive" change for the nail in the game. This other is more of a personal opinion: in the final smash, you said "dream no more" is the best ending, i think the "embrace the void" is possiblly "better" and the finish to absolute radiance would be more dramatic, as the hollow knight isn't helping it feels more of the knight's power itself, and it looks more badass as shade lord, also it's being theorized that it's gonna be the canon ending in silksong's timeline. not in the character anymore, pure vessel theme seems to be a fan favorite, and could be added to the song list. really hope we get the knight someday! He swings his nail for his basic attack and has a double jump (Monarch wings). For his ultimate ability is he rises in the air summons the shade lord in the middle of the room and whoever is below him gets grabs and slapped 4 times, dealing HUGE damage. And like Steve (from Minecraft) he has a unique ability where whenever he hits someone, he will get Soul. He can use Soul to summon the Vengeful Spirit which pierces enemies. He can also charge the attack to summon a more powerful, faster, and just more dangerous Vengeful spirit. And he can use 1/3 or his Soul to lower the percentage bar by 10%. And if he uses ALL of his Soul at one he obtains a random charm. These charms can be defensive or offensive. Shaman stone, quick focus, deep focus, baldur shell, sprint master, fluke nest, etc.

Personally, I would change the up special to sort of souped up version of the monarch wings, like Joker’s up special when Arsene is out. And the side special to sharp shadow, like a damaging roll. Everything else was awesome, great video! PLEASE SAKURAI MAKE THIS A REALITY

My only note would be to put the Vengeful Spirit on neutral B as I don't think giving it a focus is a good idea (it's a heal in the first place afterall). This way you can put the Crystal Heart Dash as side B. I would also give it a mechanic where you can hold neutral B, down B or up B to change from Soul attacks to Void attacks, increasing their power but making them just a bit slower. You can also change the look of some attacks by using the dream nail instead, just to make sure its kit doesn't look too bland ! Anyway, great video !

I loved it! The only thing I’d say is not having an up-B and subbing for a high double jump. He’d probably still be a very gimpable character without an up-B, so id say take the exact mechanic from the games, where if you hit someone with a downward nail you get your double jump back. Combining with the fact that i assume you remain stationary vertically when you use your spells, a high double jump and great air speed, gives the knight incredible reverse edge guarding capabilities in rewards for good spacing and prediction of the opponents movements offstage. Otherwise I loved every part, Great job!

I would have changed the side smash to have a nod to PV, with it being his white sword/spear things that he makes come out of the ground. Only like two or three tho. Otherwise it would be too op for a smash attack yk? Then for the start up Final smash hitbox, id copy either chrom or terry’s startup hitbox for their final smashes. Also, shape of unn = crawl and the down throw to D-dark (descending dark)

Love the way this channel's going! I just wanna add one thing though, I feel like the neutral B could be changed a bit. I feel like that gimmick should be in relation to damage instead of an ability, just to prevent camping and making space for other moves. I feel like the neutral B would be better off reserved for something like vengeful spirit or even focus heal! If you wanna get a bit creative with that, maybe even a sort of mangled lifeblood mechanic that gives the Knight super armour for a turn or two. But, that might create a bit of clutter for the HUD innit. Well anywho, I really appreciate the idea and effort you put into this video! A straight 14 minutes of content on a channel this small compared to other cool guys is really insane in my opinion. Keep up the good work, but don't overwork yourself!

I like your moveset! I'd change a couple of things and add a few things. Hopefully you'll give this a read to see what I think: Gimmick: Focus bar fills as you damage opponents. You wont be able to gain soul by focusing (I gave focus a different function). If you use a move that uses soul while the bar is full, you would use the shade version of that spell (doesnt apply to side b) Neutral B: vengeful spirit Down B (grounded): Focus, use it to heal a small amount (up to 3 times per full soul bar) Down B (aerial): Desolate dive Side B: Cystal Heart, works just like in the game but can be used in the air. It wont go as far but can damage opponents and will put the knight into free fall if used in the air. Spotdodge/roll: uses the shade cloak, if you roll through an opponent you deal a very small amount of damage Extras For the taunts there should be one where the knight pulls out a map. For the victory screens there could be one where the knight sits on a bench, one where he frees a grub, and one where it rains geo into him For the clapping animation when the knight loses it could just be the shade floating there The stock icon under the knights battle UI could be masks like in the game When the knight is on his last stock he could do the animation he does when hes on 1 mask in hollow knight I know some of these are pretty unnecessary but I thought the knight should be as true to hollow knight as possible. Let's hope the knight gets his smash invitation soon!

Honestly, I think this is pretty solid. Small suggestion, could we tack on a "Baldur Shell" as the design of his shield? I think that'd be pretty groovy. Other than that, I think you hit the Dream Nail on the head. I especially enjoy using doofy throws, so sluggin' up folks with Shape of Unn would be lovely. Good choice of taunts. You got the disrespect taunt [Challenge], the reference taunt [shade escaping], and the neat taunt [Crystal Heart]. Initially, I would argue that the Knight should have standard focus for Smash, but while that would be in-keeping with proper Hollow Knight mechanics, I could definitely see "just being good at hitting people" making the Knight unkillable, purely by virtue of being able to focus to heal himself. This was awesome. You Pure Nailed it, my dude.

I have to say, I think the fight with the Radiance would make a fantastic Smash stage all on its own. One of those constantly moving stages where you're constantly moving from platform to platform, and the Radiance is in the background flashing the stage with eye lasers periodically.

I love a lot of these concepts, but I have a few gripes with the moveset, personally. Here is my personal suggestion (most of it is the same): Soul Meter gimmick: gain 5% soul when hitting an opponent or being hit by an opponent, including when hitting an assist trophy character. After the camera returns to the arena, it reveals the Knight's shade reforming into its mask, presumably having just ate the target for a KO after using the Dreamnail. And finally, I imagine Kirby's special hat to be a healing 10% HP when used, and that he wears the hat upside down, with the eyes glowing orange (a reference to Nosk). As an Assist Tropy, I imagine Grimmchild, Zote, Hornet, The Hollow Knight/Pure Vessel, Radiance, and Salubra. Salubra specifically takes the appearance of her special charm, floating above the player that summoned her and constantly healing them. Grimmchild, similarly, follows the player that summoned it, and fires fireballs at approaching enemies. The Radiance works as a floating sentinel, firing her light beams all over the field. Hornet jumps around attacking enemies and tossing yarn spikes, before disappearing once she takes enough damage. Pure Vessel just acts as a temporary invulnerable ally, attempting to deal heavy damage to any opponents before fading into the ground. Zote does nothing, but if he is hit enough, he'll beef up into Grey Prince Zote and one-shot whoever is closest by way of his glorious running attack, which transitions into a brutal ground smash upon hitting someone - there is no KO animation for whoever he strikes, save for the screen flash.

I always thought that the spells would be all of the knights smash attacks instead of specials, so that crystal dash could be the up special and side special could be dream nail (acts like a faster skewer)
