Seems like a perfectly reasonable question for high school students. Why? because many of them are dating, and some are getting close to college age. I have multiple friends that got married before they were 21.
@747-pilot
@747-pilot 3 года назад
Getting married before 21 is the STUPIDEST thing one can do! It is EXTREMELY rare that someone has their 'life in order" at that age. Instead, build a career, gain some experience, put a little bit of money "aside" and *_THEN_* think about tying the knot. Typically that means waiting at least till 25!
@sammyb861
@sammyb861 3 года назад
747-pilot you’re saying that in a way that groups every single person into the same category and way of thinking. I got married before 20. I’m happily married and we’ve been building our life/career/goals together since getting married. Like Dave mentioned in the video, the number one reason for divorce isn’t age, it’s disagreements on money. Some people are ready to get married at or before 18 and some people will never be ready. Surprise surprise. It’s almost as if every single person is different and individual :)
@BlueDauntless
@BlueDauntless 3 месяца назад
@@747-pilotI was married at 20. We celebrated 17 years a few months ago. It’s not for everyone and has its own challenges, certainly. But I’ve seen people who waited and do it your way struggle. They’re already set in their ways and have a very hard time combining their life with their spouse. I got to “grow up” with my husband. We are learning and building together.

They need to create a "Marriage 101" curriculum and show it in every high school everywhere to show teenagers how NOT TO jump into marriage before knowing that the most important things IN a marriage are; true genuine love NOT lust or codependency, and both being emotionally and financially stable. Also being truly honest, having trust and COMMUNICATE!! Talk about separate/mutual goals, agreeing on finances, bills, purchases, savings, children or no children, etc., so they BOTH have a CLEAR understanding of what they're BOTH getting into!!

I wonder how long this teacher has actually been listening to the show. It can't be more than 2-3 months. It is a very awkwardly worded question. I don't believe kids would come up with this as a question themselves because it is not the way teenagers would speak even if they are seeing an unstable financial environment at home. I think this question is about the teacher herself and how she is questioning her own spouse and doesn't view them as having a stable relationship with money during the pandemic. Also tired of hearing about the Smart Vestor Pros nonstop. 🤑

I disagree. I won't propose to my girl at any point, ever. I'm not interested in having a family either. No pets either. Ever. Just not my lifestyle preference. I enjoy my life and my freedom. After 7yrs, if she feels either of those things become important enough for her, find a new guy because I'm not with it. And I made that point clear from day one. No financial ties, no shared bills. If either of us want to leave, we're welcome to without constraints. We stay because we love each other.

My Goodness could this be more sexist? Infidelity and lack of communication, finances, sexual intimacy are the main reasons people get divorced and women usually initiate divorce for these reasons. Times have changed, but not so much in some ways. I am guessing a Christian high school is supporting a traditional young wife scenario. In the real world women work, they are educated they have careers, high paying careers. In the real world artists make money and it is a job like any other job man or woman that does not make you a flake or a bad catch. In a marriage money easily creates a power dynamic, meaning the one who makes the money is the boss. This is another reason why a lot of women choose a career instead of staying at home with kids, it is too easy to become dependent and be put in a powerless position. Having a career levels the playing field. If you are in high school concentrate on getting a degree and a good job, a career you enjoy. Then open yourself up to choosing a partner if you feel you want one, and. plan a family if you both decide you want one. Don't be in a hurry, freeze your eggs if you have to. Marriage is a choice, it is a legal commitment to combine and share finances at the end of the day (no matter your religion). Choose a partner who shares the same values, who respects you, who you share goals with, and see the same future with. As for money, if you each bring your own to the table you will have less to fight about, and you can concentrate on being good friends, loyal to each other, concentrate on intimacy if that is a priority for both of you.
