What If There Was NO Master Sword (The Legend Of Zelda)

If there wasn't a Master sword there would be a Master Bow and a Light sword

If we accept some sub-canon from the mangas, in particular the Skyward Sword manga, we learn that the Master sword holds it's origin as a holy weapon that could only be wielded by a god. The sword was deconstructed, then reforged by the very first 6 sages of man, and then blessed by Hylia to become the Master sword that can be used by humans. It eventually then loses it's power after a fight with Demise, and Hylia taking a fatal blow, turning it into the dormant goddess sword. Then we of course return to the main canon for the rest of the sword's history. Using this as a base of knowledge, it stands to reason that the gods are in possession of several weapons with the power to fight against demonkind. However, only a select few have been made compatible with humans. Namely, the Master sword, and presumably the silver arrows as well. The picori blade, which eventually becomes the four sword, also likely underwent a similar process, being gifted to the picori by the gods, then to an unnamed hero, then back to the picori, who finally transform it into the four sword. Other contenders for human tier holy weapons include the lokomo sword and phantom sword, which have been shown to be able to defeat demons other than Ganon. Whether it is ALL high class demons that need a holy relic to defeat, or if that is something only Ganon/demise has, is ultimately the deciding factor on this. Finally, we have the light arrows, which are more likely nested in Hylia's inherent holy magic, rather than a holy weapon. After all, light arrows are always a gift from Zelda, who is the descendant of Hylia, and as BotW confirms, contains her magical demon repelling aura within her. It is this power that creates the light arrows, as opposed to the deconstruction and ritual reconstruction of a preexisting divine relic. Ultimately, that means that without the master sword, Ganon could still be destroyed by a myriad of unknown weapons, provided the proper steps were taken. These steps involve gathering 6 wise sages, as well as a bit of divine intervention. You could actually create a pretty decent game around this concept, the forging of a new holy weapon.

If the Master Sword never existed in The Legend of Zelda, it would be The Daily Life of Zelda.

What about the Magical Sword from Zelda 1, i once thought that this was retconned into the Master Sword but Hyrule Encyclopedia canonized this as a completely different sword for its time and is the most powerful in an era where the Master Sword can't be found, which makes it arguably the second most powerful, maybe outside of the four swords or Fierce Deity's Big Ass Sword

If the master sword wouldn't have existed since the beginning, then Fi wouldn't have existed nor the divine sword. And then, Link wouldn't have saved Zelda, and Ghirahim would have resurrect Demise. So the legend wouldn't exist.

ANCIENT ARROWS... They murder Ganon. They end his first phase swiftly and can be used instead of light arrows in BotW.

Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't the Fierce Deity Mask have a good shot at destroying Ganondorf? From what I've heard, the sword granted by this powerful form is apparently twice as powerful as The Master Sword and has the ability to shoot beams regardless of Link's Health. If the Master Sword is capable of defeating Ganon, wouldn't this form have even more effect?

+Dr.Wily here's something to research: in The Child timeline (Twilight Princess) The triforce has been split, but there's a huge problem with it. When link got sent back to live his childhood he got sent back to before the events of OoT happened. So the triforce never split. How exactly did the triforce split in the child timeline then?

I was thinking after watching some of ur vids on the races in breath of the wild, gerudo n zora, if the game mentions both the twili timeline and ruto form the adult timeline, mabye hear me out, at some point a massively powerful being, or event took place, where all the three timlines merged, or happened all at once, like the warp in the west in elderscrolls lore, where all the possibilitys for a situation happened at once. That or even in the twili timeline, ruto still became a sage still, and using her sage title to cozy up to the royal familiy, zelda probably told her about link,and bla bla bla..

I theorized that there was one timeline without the Master Sword, that's why breathe of the wild happened, twisting other timeliness to where one comes to exist. But that was disproved, I only thought this because when Link is send back in time from Zelda, he was either send back into a time when the door was already opened meaning the sword is already missing or he arrives as another Link travels back in time or replaces the other.

In Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks the Master Sword is pretty much lost forever (being lost under the vast ocean in old Hyrule), but it is sealed away. Then again, Ganon isn't really a threat anymore in that timeline, making it not necessary to try and find the sword anymore. Regardless, without the sword I say they've been able to manage pretty well

The people in the BoTw period would be just fine. There is no need for the master sword or even the bow of light. Their technology alone is enough to kill ganon (ancient arrows)

5:32 you're forgetting ancient arrows, which have the same effect as the master sword. The Ancient Arrow is holy-based.

In BOTW Dark Beast Ganon can be killed with Aincent Arrows. So by the time of Breath of the Wild, aincent arrows would be a very effective tool for killing Ganon.

Well in botw you can technically defeat calamity Ganon without the master sword. But you do need either the bow of light and light arrows or ancient arrows

There Other sacred blade in the Zelda Universe forge to repeal Evil.-The Master Sword (Agains Démise and Ganon)-The Four Sword (Agains Vaati and Ganon)-The Phantom Sword(Agains Bellum)-The Lokomo Sword(Agains Maladus) Silver and Light Zrrows are very likely, This was a light arrow that destroy Ganon giant malice body in breath of the Wild.

Here are 3 things I know would happen if the Master Sword ever went missing. 1: Hyrule would be screwed without it. 2: The Golden Goddesses would be really mad. 3: There would be nothing to balance out the Triforce, which connects directly to my second point.

Imagine shooting Ganon(dorf) with Light Arrows to stun and weaken him, then Silver Arrows to damage him when he's stunned, until he's dead... A final boss you can beat by spamming projectiles from a safe distance! :3 Also, since the Light Arrow is an Arrow enchantment and Silver Arrows are an Arrow upgrade, what would happen if you used the Light Arrow on the Silver Arrows and created "Light Silver Arrows"?

I don't think he mentioned Breath of the Wild's possible way to kill Calamity Ganon without the Master Sword. You just use a normal weapon then Zelda gives you the Bow of Light. So even thought the silver arrow isn't specifically available, it has an equivalent. Though it is said the strategy is the same, weaken and seal.

In BOTW you can still kill ganon without the master sword or any sacred weapon, just use good weapons for the first phase and ancient arrows with good ranged bows for the last phase

but if there's no master sword then there'd be no second "lock" keeping the sacred relm away from Gannondorf, he'd get the spiritual stones and enter the room and gain access to the sacred relm because there'd be no sword to lock it up

Before watching the video, I'd just like to say that the Master Sword was nowhere to be found in the original NES Legend of Zelda. The Silver Arrows were used to kill Ganon in that game. And even though it was in ALttP, Link still needed the Silver Arrows to defeat Ganon.

If the master aword just disappears link can just use is old weapons in case of BTW he could max out his weapon inventory and grab the strongest ancient weapons and armor

In botw you use light arrows to defeat beast ganon, a more powerful version of calamity ganon.

If there is no Master Sword. Basically I can think of many things like Ganondorf can't rule Hyrule and more no war between everyone. BUT there is one problem never existed then it would never protect the Triforce and it won't defeat any evil that rises. So Demise wins if there is no master sword
