@@ThRifTeDmUsIc I don't think it's them thinking its not worth it, I think Audi and BMW want to focus on other championships for the time being. Because entering three or four championships is gonna impact the performance in the manufacturer.
I still think that out of the VW brands Porsche is the likeliest candidate. But then Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini are going to join WEC in 2023 and 2024. So why not all three? 😂
@@TommoMcCluskey once he has those super license points. Doesn’t look like he’ll have enough this year unless he makes a HUGE leap in the standings to end the season
@@TommoMcCluskey Wow you really think so? Many people have this same thinking that Colton and Andretti are coming to F1. Would be refreshing. Looking forward to it.
TBH I'm not sure if he'd be THAT good in F1. He's unbelievably fast, but it's feast or famine for him. One day he'll dominate a race and another he'll put it in the wall. Pato O'Ward is the indycar driver that I'd love to see join F1
I’ve been campaigning for a Toyota return to F1 ever since their successes in WRC & NASCAR as well as their recent dominance in WEC. I mean, they’ve been so successful with their motorsport ventures recently, why stop there? On a side note, Tommo, would love to see you have a crack at doing a Corvette Racing F1 team haha
I am now working with Toyota. When they were mentioning about their Motorsport, I asked about Toyota in F1 and everyone just looked at me like as if I had offended their grannies.
As much as I would love to see Kamui back on the F1 grid, I have another idea for an experienced Toyota driver: Alonso Well, not in 2022, but later. Not only did he win Le Mans Twice with Toyota, he also competed in Dakar. As for the test driver, wouldn't Ryo Hirakawa be a better choice considering he is a Toyota driver while Oyu is a Honda driver ?
I totally agree 👍. Disappointed with Honda because they could have let Redbull still build their engines, but under the Mugen brand. The Japanese seem to be flakey unfortunately with F1.
I'm not going to bash, but RPM would be a joke in F1. The only reason that team can stay solvent is by being buoyed by a bigger team. Hendrick is a greater than 0% chance of happening. Penske has actually won in F1 (something Toyota cannot claim to), and he definitely has the resources to try. I'd love that as he's the most successful auto racing owner in American history, but I think he's committed to US motorsports (NASCAR/IndyCar). Especially given his ownership of Indianapolis. Ganassi is actually exiting NASCAR, Trackhouse Racing (part owned by Pitbull) actually gave him a Godfather offer for his team and he couldn't refuse. He seems pretty committed to putting the newfound funds into IMSA and IndyCar, but of all the guys you mentioned, that seems like the least far fetched one. I could especially see this if Chevrolet ever decided to enter F1, as Ganassi's close links to GM through his Cadillac DPI program could be perfect.
I love the livery, it is the same colors as the ones from 2002-09 had which I like and I also like the design, it reminds me of the Marlboro McLaren cars which I quite like
Tommo I just thought of an idea maybe for you to use; putting current f1 liveries on older gen cars like 90s,00s,10s etc. would be interesting to see what it looks like
Every reccomendation from this vid is absolutely GOD tier. The team principle, the driver, the designs its like... god PLEASE Toyota would be the COOLEST team on the grid just imagine..
I am late, but a Toyota F1 return would mean so much to me. As a kid, Michael Schumacher and Ferrari were king (lets not forget Barichello) and he was a sort of hero of my childhood era. And Toyota is either my favourite or favourite 2nd brand, having grown up with them as well. So to have the son of a legend win with my most loved brand would be a special moment
Cool idea. I think the big problem with this ever happening is that Toyotas current wec team is the same as the old Toyota F1 team. I think it's a hard case to make that that team who are currently successful in wec switch to F1 where their success is doubtful. They would need to choose one, the team wouldn't have the resources to do both. No matter how much money Toyota are willing to spend they can't instantly create another team to do F1. Even if they did a brand new team would likely be unsuccessful. The livery does look sick though (old and new).
It would actually be cool if Toyota returns to F1 in the near future, especially with the new regs coming in. My pairing would be Nick Cassidy and Sebastien Buemi, two drivers who really deserve a longterm chance in F1 overall.
I feel like an interesting one would be Bentley. Could take inspiration from their other race cars and how decent they’ve been in the past. Another suggestion was Subaru but they might be a bit harder to do idk
Do what you think would happen if andretti motorsport joined f1, there has been rumours of micheal andretti making an f1 team, and i think it would be interesting to hear your take on it. Thanks!
I think Lexus should join f1. They have a similar representation to what Mercedes had before they joined f1 as an old men car brand. I think if they join f1 their sales will go up and it will advertise their new hybrid range
Given their branding recently I feel like they could go with either Toyota Gazoo Racing, or, to shake it up a bit, brand the team as Lexus with Toyota powerplants, like how Renault is using Alpine now
Hypercar being WAY cheaper than LMP1 is also a plus point. If they were to actually join I'd guess it would be in 2025 when the new engine regs kick in
I Love it so Much! I am Born in Cologne so Toyota will always be in my Heart! I also got Team-Magazines from a Former Engineer at Toyota and a Travel Bag from the Panasonic Toyota Racing as Well! Just Amazing to see a Car in the Style of Toyota again! Would be Great If Our Cologne/Japanese Team would Return to the Formula 1 Circle! :) Just Straight Perfection! I love the Colors and the Design! And I could already Imagine all the Cologne Music that would be played in the Garage after a Podium! 😩🤩
I dunno man, but Toshiki Oyu is Honda's driver. Sho Tsuboi is a bit more sensible IMO. Or if it's purely for car development purpose, Heikki Kovalainen is also available.
I’d honestly say Buemi and Kobayashi would be a good lineup for Toyota. They both obviously have ties with the brand and have had successes with Toyota in WEC, they’ve shown versatility and ability in multiple categories, both having had great success throughout their careers. And they both have a bit of F1 experience, albeit from a while back, but I do think they could still make a very decent lineup
They also have built the super gt engine that is extremely similar to the f1 engine and the Honda engine from super gt and f1 are very similar so that would also help
Could you do Tatra? Recently Red Bull has been doing a marketing campaign in Czech Republic and Slovakia about Tatra 607 which was all set and ready to join the grid in the 50s but because of the political situation couldnt. It would be very cool. Or, i think more realisticly, Škoda, as they have a big presence in Rallye i am sure you know. Or maybe they could go together.
2nd driver; Brendon Hartley. Could've perfomed better first time around in F1, but he was pretty unlucky with DNFs and was in the most cutthroat F1 team system. He's been with Toyota a number of years and won LeMans a couple of times. He and Kamui would likely be looking for similar setups, since they've been sharing the same (sister) car for the last few years. Having both drivers wanting the same thing would surely be a good thing to get the setup dialed in quickly.
Tommo please find a way to make this happen, you have the power. My only personal change would be black Denso on the car and maybe black/carbon halo. Love the videos!
The only change I would make would be reversing the black and white in the overalls, to A) make them more distinct from Mercedes and B) make them more confortable in the hotter races
Its pretty fun to hear the story of Toyota in F1 first hand. Its a really messed up and exciting story to listen to how they had the biggest Budget but where a midfield team at best.
What if HYUNDAI Joined Formula 1? Hyundai N F1 Engine: Hyundai produced V6 Hybrid (3rd largest auto manufacturer, after Toyota & VW) Team Principal: Adrea Adamo (Current Hyundai WRC principal) Driver Lineup: Jack Aitken (UK/S Korea dual-national, F1 reserve driver experience) & Valtteri Bottas (Quality driver looking for a seat) Livery & overalls: Light blue, red, black & white
i would love to see the team as you have suggested. how about doing an episode or two on who all the F1 sponsors are and what they do. I see lots of names and brands on F1 cars but i have no idea what they are about. not very effective advertising i think but i dont mind as long as it keeps F1 going.
You should do a video about what if some of the big teams/longest running team (Mercedes, Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, Renault/Alpine, Williams) decides to leave F1. And also you should do a video about what if Nissan joins F1. It could serve as an Alpine/Renault B-Team consider there's a lot of talent in the Alpine Academy.
They would have to link their F1 hybrid V6 to their Prius (and other hybrid) models (even if they aren't related). They missjudged and invested in hydrogen electric vehicles, leaving them behind in the pure electric market, so hybrid=fun could be a marketing strategy. Side note: It would be really cool to have a hot hatch Prius just for the reaction of car people.
At the current rate, I don’t see Yuki being signed again for next season. I reckon he might be a decent choice as 2nd driver or reserve driver if Toyota was to come to F1 again, and slap Albon back in Alpha Tauri
He’s got time to perfect his race craft. He’s got pace, a phenomenal driver, his learning abilities have suffered this year than any other year in his career. Give the boy the rest of the season to prove himself.
Like the vid, but Toyota is not leaving WEC anytime soon. Some mayor manufactures are coming in to WEC/le mans in the coming years and they want to beat them too
Cadillac just announced that they will compete in the Hypercar class at Le Mans in 2023 so why not a "What if Cadillac joins F1 ?" Also they are already 10 constructors confirmed in the Hypercar class at the 2023 24h of Le Mans which is INSANE (Toyota, Glickenhaus, Peugeot, Porsche, Ferrari, Audi, BMW, Acura, Bykolles and Cadillac)
Why and how do you pull off such good sponsor transitions? I especially hate when on other channels THE VERY FIRST THING they talk about in the video: THE SPONSOR. Mate it’s cool. Make the cash I love ya for it, brings us more content, but at least either keep the sponsor in the middle or at the end. You do it so well. And it’s I have to say organic the way you do the sponsor segments, it’s just other youtubers think: -“Ok we need to shoehorn this thing to make the money, so just slap it in there.” Mate as much as I love those channels they can go right and f*** off. Ain’t watching them no more. But you keep it up mate. You are doing a swell job. Love ya. Cheers.
or you could make a vid where you tell which livery in each of the current team's history is the best, you can inculde liveries that bared different name like aston and force india
Going on from this idea, would be interesting to see whether American manufacturers has any interest in returning to F1. Since Liberty seems to be very adamant in bringing American audiences, if they could get more tracks and maybe a new driver, one of their manufacturers that has experience in racing (probably Ford or Chevrolet?) could be the next step, although it would need a lot of investment for them to have a new team in F1 just like as you said.
A lot of mistakes in this video that I feel needs to be pointed out. 1. Lost 2.9bn due to brake by wire issue with almost all their cars that seen massive recalls to fix the issue. To save public face in Japan they decided to pull out of F1 plus due to the new engine agreements that F1 had just signed was deemed too complex and expensive. 2. The Hybrid engine used by LMP1 cars is a very simplistic design compared to the current F1 cars and if I remember correct doesn't have the complex MGU-H (Heat recovery). This was asked to be changed in F1 by Honda to save money in engine development and also reported VW (Audi & Porsche) have also asked for this to be changed if they would enter F1 next season. It was given a Big No by Mercedes and now we don't see any teams entering the sport even though some where interested due to the salary cap or spending cap. They are all now waiting until 2025 when the new fuel and engine spec is suppose to be given the green light closer to that of the current LMP1 cars. 3. DENSO is owned by Toyota and is actually the development/parts branch of Toyota. They develop all the electrical components and spare parts of Toyota road developed cars. 4. Gazoo Racing - is a separate branch of Toyota racing throughout the world with each having distinct areas in which they race. So the Toyota F1 car would never have Gazoo Racing attached to the cars name unless the team was run by the sub-branch of Toyota. Similar to how Honda America Racing works in Nascar and Indy; they aren't owned by Honda. Gazoo isn't owned by Toyota. 5. Eneos would also be a sponsor of Fuel & oils; not Mobil 1. Okay, I am done ripping this apart now. And yes I know this is just for fun as Toyota will not be returning before 2025; if ever.
bugatti rimac could be good shout joining F1 in upcoming years , with 2 companies that are making one of best hyper/sport cars they are surely looking at that possibility
