He literally went into the same situation as if he stayed in the past. The difference is that he would've been with a young version of himself if he had stayed. He could've been a mentor. Hell, he could be a better candidate than freaking Roshi in the Surival Arc. There are so many things that would kinda get around the time travel rule, such as neither Zeno knowing Trunks is from another time and Future Zeno could say "it's cool". Just say that Future Trunks is Trunks' older brother and give him an alias, perhaps even a Saiyan one

The Cell we end up fighting is the result of Trunks going back to the future after the Androids have been killed. He then goes and kills the androids in the future after he returns. That's when Cell finds and kills Trunks and takes his Time Machine back to the past. So it is still possible for Cell to get there.

She might be able to salvage some spare parts from it if she needed to but she can't just fix it up a bit and have him use it.

AceTrainer Ryan Apparently (if my memory serves me correct) the events of Wrath of the Dragon sort of happened in FT's timeline, so he did technically get Tapion's sword, we just never got to see it.

Except in Future Trunks' timeline, everyone was dead before he turned 7. Also there was no Super Saiyan 3 yet. That whole thing is screwy!!!

The Cell that we got was from another timeline which was like the show. He had killed Trunks, taken his Time Machine back to the past after reverting to his larval state and then waiting to hatch.

It is fairly safe to assume that eventually they all would reach SSJ2, but it may take longer than expected because the ZFighters didn't have the Cell Games to push them to use the room of spirit and time and master SSJ. If nobody trained up in the room of spirit and time they would all be weaker than they originally were at the end of the cell arc. Yes, they would have trained after the defeat of Cell, but it is safe to say they would not be near their original level during the Buu arc. Unless of course a different threat appears in the meantime giving them a reason to train harder. But because Goku never died he was there to raise Goten and train him up as well. So many possibilities, so little time.

I would say without that persistent threat it may take them a while to realize there is a level beyond SSJ so even if they do get there it might not even be until the Buu arc they unlock SSJ2.

A combination between future trunks and buu sounds terrifying

Because of what Future Trunks has been through I'm not so sure it would have played out the same had he remained in the past. He didn't even allow Buu to wake up in his own timeline so I doubt he would dick around with the bad guys the way Goku, Vegeta and Gohan did when that found Babidi's lair.

Indeed, between the practicality of Trunks and Gohan, odds would be low that Buu would make it out in time. It'd be a serious branch...

Also, Vegeta wanted the DragonBalls to be able to destroy planets for as long as he wanted. That's gonna take a while right, with only a couple more candidates? Not to mention you've got 4 kais and 4 kaioshins (originally) to rule 30 planets? And Beerus casually destroyed half of one on a whim, the universe won't last long at that rate... Nah, it's a blunder, no other way to put it

A good idea but remember- the bulk of any advanced tech Capsule Corp had would likely have gone into the time machine. At this point future Bulma is dead and Capsule Corp is most likely in ruins. Where is he going to find a ship?

This wouldn’t work for a simple reason. Multiple timelines. Shenron/ Porunga can’t effect an alternate timeline because that is WAY beyond their powers. The God Dragon might be able to do it, but they don’t know the Dragon God even exists. You also forget a simple rule from Super: messing with timelines is forbidden. Your entire idea wouldn’t work in anways

Alus the Legend This is a very late reply, but I just saw it so I'll answer anyways. I saw this on another video that was talking about how there are 4 cannon timelines, the one that we see in the series, the one that trunks comes from, a different timeline from the future in which trunks successfully kills off the androids too, and another current time where the latter trunks went to in order to help. I believe that the cell we see in the show is from the third timeline I mentioned, the one in which another trunks went back to the past (to the 4th timeline) ended the android threat there and then went back to his own time and killed the androids from his time. When cell saw trunks and the time machine, he promptly killed trunks and reverted to his larva form in order to enter the machine and send himself back to a past that had androids there. How he ended up on a different one than the one trunks went to, I have no idea.

I'll try to explain this as I see it, if there's a need. So! Yes, we have 4 timelines in DBZ. 1) Original original Timeline, where Trunks dies. 2) Timeline where Future Cell didn't exist. 3) Future Trunks Timeline that we know. 4) Our DBZ-DBS-DBGT Timeline. 1) Trunks goes back to the past, everything goes as per usual, he and team kills androids with the pilot, Trunks goes back to home, kills androids with the pilot, wants to go to the past and tell everyone but he gets killed by Cell who uses time machine. 2) Trunks shows up, everything goes as per usual but without Cell showing up in Pepper Town, Bulma creates a pilot, Trunks and team kills the android, then he goes back to home, and the story continues. 3) Everything goes as per usual, but when Trunks goes back he kills Cell (he's stronger here because of Cell in the past) and you know the rest 4) Nothing to say there 5) Timeline from this what if Here are time travels of Trunks 1->2->1 1->4->3 (Cell created 4th timeline and Trunks created 3rd because of it) 1(?)->5->1(?) Here are time travels of Cell 1->4 1->5 Get it? I think I explained it accurately as it was in the series. Thank you for reading this.

KidArk well if you’d know there is the theory of the anti phone. Particles that move faster than the speed of light are actually moving back in time (theoretically). So once you’ve built something faster than light, it’s kind of a time machine.

Our current understanding of time travel is that it is probably impossible (other than into the future, at a rate of one second per second). No one has ever successfully sent anything, even subatomic particles, through time in any other direction or rate.

Neither of these, regular Zamasu kills Gowasu and goes on murderspree of his own universe. No Goku powers or immortality, slow going. No Black Arc, Goku gets bored, goes to ask Zeno for the tournament. Zeno invites all Gods to the exhibition. Universe 10 fails to appear, all Gods get suspicious, the Grand Priest goes to investigate. Sees Zamasu murdering all of the inhabitants, some of whom are capable of putting up a fight potentially since Zamasu doesn't have his advantages like in canon. Grand Priest discovers that the God of Destruction of Supreme Kai's are dead and the Angel is dormant. Brutally murders Zamasu with a flick of the wrist. Zeno blows up Universe 10 since there is no point keeping a dead universe. Survival Arc resumes but with one less contestant. It would make for a great arc between the exhibition match and the actual tournament though.
