Your rear grey 90 deg elbow near the firewall is not technically a valve, it is mealy a restricted hole or metered hole. This controls the he amount of vacuum applied to the internal rock valve coverer.
I was wondering to connect an oil catch can in my 2001 4.0 TJ. Now I can't seem to figure out where to put the catch can. Between the PCV valve and the airbox or between the CCV (rear valve near the firewall) and the intake manifold? The PCV pushes oil/fumes into the airbox due to the positive pressure under the valve cover, but oil/fumes also gets sucked in due to the negative pressure from the intake manifold. So the 1st question is: Are the oil/fumes forced into the air filter box due to the overpressure that builds up under the valve cover, or is it due to the intake manifold that sucks in the oil and fumes, or is it both? The second thing I'm wondering is the role of the CCV in all of this. The CCV (closed crank ventilation) It also pushes oil/fumes back into the intake manifold but also due to the suction of the intake manifold. I see people placing the oil catch can between the PCV and the Air filter box & I see people placing the catch can between the CCV and the intake manifold. These are good questions. 1: I guess it could be either or both in regards to your first question. I would think the more likely cause would be overpressure from the valve cover possibly caused by a clog in the CCV system? 2: The CCV system is designed to create clean air circulation through the crankcase by using the vacuum created to circulate air from the air filter box into the engine. If it were me I would do what I could to keep the system operating as designed rather than placing an oil catch in the system. If the oil was being sucked to places where it wasn't supposed to be I would suspect there was a problem somewhere in the system and fix that first. I hope this helps? I had same issue, was told that it was from adding oil too quickly? Was my nieces Jeep so not too familiar with these vehicles so just passing it on in case
@@FamilyJeepingAdventures right has to be brand new oil on air filter I'll go your route there has to be an obstruction somewhere, getting misfires thanks for the video big help
