I've tried many balls this past year searching for the magic from my 70 year old body and low 80"s swing speed. Even though not targeted towards slower swing speeds, I found the ProV1X to be the best all around performer for me. Based upon driver distance, iron spin with approach shots, and with chipping and putting. However, due to cost I was looking for a somewhat cheaper alternative. Again, after trying many brands in the medium price range it come down to the balls reviewed in this very informative and detailed review. After more than several rounds with both the clear winner for me was the Tour Soft. I found driver distance much the same with both, but with irons I was a clear half to full club longer with the Tour Soft. Short game, pitching and chipping was to close to call, but with putting, again the clear winner was the Tour Soft based upon feel and roll. The Tour Speed seemed to jump off the putter face which made for very inconsistent putting. Again, everyones swing is different along with their feel preference, this was just from my personal experience or 2 cents.

Hi John! Thank you for watching my video and for sharing your own personal experiences! I want the channel to be a community for the ‘typical’ golfer and hope that my reviews offer my opinion but create a space where we can get other opinions too and engage in helpful discussion as like you say we are all slightly different in our preferences! so I love hearing your experience and thank you for taking the time to share it! I also get why you’d like Pro V1x but be put off the price too. I’ve learnt recently that the Pro v1 is a perfect ball for me and it’ll therefore be on my Christmas and birthday lists for the foreseeable future but the rest of the year I’ll play a c.£35 a dozen ball which offers the best all round package for me in terms of price and performance! All the best and thanks for giving my channel a watch! 👍🏼

Hi Jeff! Thanks for your kind comment and for watching my videos! I have the Q Star Tour purchased and it’s the next on my list of ball reviews to film, should land on my channel in a couple of weeks! I’ve only ever had good experiences with Srixon balls - from the AD333 through to my testing of Z Star but for some reason I’ve never gamed a Srixon ball long enough. It’s been suggested by my coach that I try the Q Star Tour though, and a few people have commented asking for it, hence the review coming soon! All the best! 👍🏼

Hi H! I think based on my testing that’s a good summary on the cheaper balls… you lose a little bit more than you’d like to lose around the greens and have to make up for that with shot choice but in the long game there isn’t a lot in it and you get the benefit of cost and durability. Thanks for watching and sharing your experiences for the benefit of others! 👍🏼

Hi Phil! Thanks for watching and subscribing - I really appreciate it! I wouldn’t want to give a definitive answer to those questions as I think it’s hard to confirm without testing side by side at the same time! But that being said I don’t think there would be a lot in it, distance wise, with these and the Tour B RX but I’d say the Bridgestone is a much better all round ball - however it is a lot more expensive! I’ve not yet tested the Velocity so not too sure what results I’ll see from it but it’ll be tested in the coming few weeks on the channel! Sorry I can’t be more certain and help you out at the moment! All the best! 👍🏼

New subscriber here, and i would have subscribed sooner except the vid only just now showed up in my feed. I wish someone would show MGS this test. Those guys are so wrapped up in "urethane only, or it sucks", that they've lost their way on ball reviews. In my view, your swing speed with driver (mid-90's) is very indicative of most avid male golfers. Crazies like myself work at it (for no good reason other than it's a hobby), and therefore get more speed and skill. But again it's not like i'm ever turning pro or anything (i'm about a 1-3 handicap, depending on the time of year you look at me). I can play a Pro V just fine, but i'm not good enough to predict when it's going to go crazy and back up 30' on me. I'm a high-spin player that has no issue whatsoever playing with the Titleist Velocity or the Trufeel, and i don't think i'm someone that has a swing that's all that out of the ordinary. The Velocity and Trufeel are my regular gamer balls. If i'm in a scramble with friends, i'll bring out some pro v's trying to hold spin on some difficult shots that come up, but in regular games those types of situations are rare. And on top of that, the ionomer covers are basically indestructible. I'll wear out a Pro V before i lose it. I've never worn out an ionomer ball before losing it, unless i've dinged it off a cart path. Unless you're a pro, there's more than one way to play this game well. These cheaper balls definitely have a place on the golf course. One thing i'd like to see: i'd like to see one of these Titleist ionomer balls straight-up with a Pro V counterpart, just like this test. I know the Pro v spins more in short game. I know the Pro v spins less with driver. What i'd like to see is data exactly the way you've presented it here, with your clubspeed providing the shots. I know for my own personal testing on the course with my 100-104 mph driver swing speed, is that the ionomer balls seem to jump off the irons just a little faster. With driver, and a brand new Pro V, i can outdrive the ionomer balls, but only if the ball is still slick from being new. Once the cover starts showing a little wear, it's no contest. And again, great vid!

Hi Andrew! Thanks for watching and for your comment! It’s amazing how much feel is an overriding variable for all of us golfers! I hear it a lot and I’m no different. I truly believe that something that feels right is often better than something that may be a bit more right because the positive feels override. Both were great balls in my test so don’t see a bad choice either way here - after all they are Titleist! All the best! 👍🏼

I love Tour Speed. The tour soft is 💩 for the money. Ionomer and 2 piece. It's a money spinner for them - even more profit than a pro-v1. I'm hoping they don't change the tour speed formula for 2024. Right now it's the perfect mid compression ball for my swing speed and delivery. It's long off driver AND irons. Not too hard not too soft. Great launch. Really appreciate the slightly lower iron spin (I'm a high spin player and hug the ball pretty high anyway) and Ive hit my longest drives yet with this ball. Titleist pls don't change or tweak this ball!
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros Год назад
Hi Dave! Thanks for watching my video and for your comment! It’s GREAT to hear from someone who has had the opposite experience with both these balls. Like I said in the video I absolutely expected that to be the case given how similar both balls are in some aspects yet so different in others. I also totally get if you’re a high spin player already why the Tour Speed then comes out on top! As you saw in my test the Tour Speed didn’t live up to its name and the Tour Soft was a better performing ball all round for me! I also understand your views on the price point of the Tour Soft given it’s construction you’d expect it to be priced similar to the Velocity or Tru Feel and £5-9 a dozen cheaper. Let’s hope Titleist keep that Tour Speed formula as it is for you! All the best! 👍🏼
@daveeastcott9323
@daveeastcott9323 Год назад
@@weekendtourpros Yeah it's not that the tour soft is bad per se. The fact is that I'm not a great player but I've got a bit of speed. My biggest on course drive this season is 284yds with the tour speed. I think I might have gone close to beating it yesterday but I didn't have the GPS. I think that if you're at the level of needing a softer ball speedwise, differences are much closer between the balls and U might as well get a Srixon soft feel (approx 60 compression) or ad333 (about 75 compression) for about half the price, I doubt u see a difference on the course, the construction and compression are after all similar, and having tried many of these over the years they work fine. I lose a bit of speed with driver and yes, like you found, gain some on my irons. It seems obvious to me when using a ball that's too firm for me - mishits off irons start to feel incredibly harsh and are heavily punished for distance. I'd say that the firmest whilst still soft-feeling and forgiving ball (if that makes sense!) has to be the vice pro. But U gotta get 5 dozen to make it a good deal which is a bit of a drawback.

I’ve got the Chrome Soft included in my ‘what is the best premium ball’ video - but was there a specific ball you’d like to see the Chrome Soft compared to? All the best!
@daveeastcott9323
@daveeastcott9323 Год назад
AVX feels incredible I reckon. It is a very low flying ball due to low launch AND low spin. For that reason I wldnt buy it but when I've found and played them that's what I've found. I guess it depends on your swing speed and what type of shots you hit/want. Id go the Tour speed personally if Ur after mid compression that ticks all the boxes. Long off driver whilst still being forgiving and long on irons with a decent spin. My top 3 wld be tour speed, vice pro, oncore elixr. I wanna try ram tour spin and the new Snell MTB prime looks AWESOME but not in stock here in Australia yet

I keep trying different balls but currently play the Bridgestone tour BXS but my swing speed is too low based on their recommendation. I used to play the tour b rx but like a yellow ball and can’t get those in the uk so was considering the AVX

Phil have you considered the Bridgestone Tour RX or Tour RXS? I have reviewed them both and love them. I’m currently using the RXS on the course and it’s fantastic. Worth a try if you already like Bridgestone balls but think the yellow versions are rare in this country so overpriced IMO. The AVX is on my review list though and I’ll get it done soon for you!

@daveeastcott9323 Год назад
@@philballance9432 if Ur happy with a softer compression ionomer 2 piece, id recommend Srixon soft feel (60) or ad 333 (75) as decent feeling and performing budget alternatives. If U want 'tour' feel in a softer compression I'd highly recommend TaylorMade Tour Response (73). Durability, performance, feel, price and availability are all big ticks plus looks sexy in yellow. These balls are really long off the irons at slower speeds. I have compared them to a Tour Speed, tp5, TP5x, pro V1, avx, tour b xs and the srixons. I do agree with the guy that Bridgestones are a great ball overall but they have had some QC issues over recent years and the balls are very expensive (at least here in Oz) there are better value alternatives. I hope U find Ur ball mate, it takes a while but it's really fun and rewarding process and it gives you more confidence when U really feel that knowledge and connection with the ball Ur teeing up, expecting to hit a good shot. I feel that I'm a good club longer with current ball than what I'm playing before whilst still getting the height and bite on our firm and quick Aussie greens.

Why are there Titleist golf balls being shipped from Sri Lanka for cheaper?
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros 10 месяцев назад
Hi Frank! To my knowledge Titleist only make their balls in two places… 1. USA (ball plants 2 and 3) and 2. Thailand (ball plant 4). Normally on the box of the balls it tells you which one they are made at. To my knowledge (could be wrong!) none are made in Sri Lanka. I assume the use of Ball Plant 4 in Thailand is a cost based decision but I’m not certain! Thanks for watching my video! 👍🏼

Hi Patrick! Thanks for watching! I filmed this video so long ago now that I can’t really remember the results! Haha!
