Thank you so much, i am a brazilian with 18years old. I lost more than 30kg, i was very fat and i do this with Calisthenics in my home, and now i train Streetlifting (Weighted Calisthenics) and i have Autism(Syndrome of Asperger's) your videos help me so Much.

Starting from 34%BF a year ago I've been doing both DEXA and BIA and BIA was severely underestimating my fat percentage until I got down to 26% then the two readings were aligning closely.

8 month update - Lost 89 pounds.( from 85 pounds on 1st of April) Saw a good growth in muscles as well. Weight loss was minimal but i can see alot changes in my body, feeling muscular and less fatty (except for belly and love handles region 😅)

how reliable would you say the at home body composition scales are? i have one at home, it uses BIA, and it seems decently accurate. I have been using it to track body composition over time, but i would like to hear your thoughts. love the video

Depends in the specific manufacturer and the technology used (single vs multi frequency BIA). In most cases, I think they are decent for measuring a large sample of people to get average results, but are not accurate or reliable enough to track true changes in muscle mass in the same person over time

Another way to use these is to understand that they may not be very accurate but they are also pretty consistently inaccurate within the device. As in, if you take something like a 7 day moving average using the same device you can identify trends if you are using the same device every day. As an example, if it starts by saying you are 25% body fat, sure you may actually be 27 or 23... But then as you lose fat over time and you get it reading 15 then you may be 17 or 13 but you are pretty sure (not 100%) you actually did lose somewhere near 10% of your body weight in fat.

Yeah I use mine to track trends and get occasional DEXA for confirmation. When I got down to 26% my scale started to align with the DEXA, above 28% it was wildly off.
