My mom is a covert narc and one thing to describe her behaviour is that she is so unhappy that she can't stand anyone else being happy. If she sees anyone happy she will do all she can to destroy people's joy and happiness.
Yeah, I think you have more of an antisocial personality. You said you don't care what others think; that's antisocial. Covert narcissism is all about showing how social they are. A covert narcissist would never speak publicly like this. They will collapse and later be admitted to the psychiatric hospital.
All cluster B disorders are inherently anti-social. However, psyche is never black and white. My recent ex was so clearly covert NPD, hated being in crowds, hated her body more than anyone I have ever know, but loved going to tennis with a smaller group. New sub here. So glad to have found you! The ragers were easy to spot and, with experience, their actions became predictable. The covert, on the other hand, was everyone's "friend" and had a knack for getting other people to finish carrying out the "vengeance" she started. She succeeded in that at least twice and, in retrospect, may have been responsible for two suicides and an overdose. I actually wonder if she's further along the spectrum -- a psychopath or Dark Triad. Thank you for being here. I look forward to what I can learn from you!
Wow everyone is being so mean. He’s disordered and he’s just being defensive. It’s funny this thought came into my head and a second later he pounded on his chest saying he’s gonna defend himself always lol. Recognize defensiveness and when someone with a disorder is having a little spiral, don’t gotta be so mean.
Completely remove all the labels, that you seem to be wearing, from either ones you wear yourself, or what others’ have placed on you. Clearing your mind, of what you think you are, will guide you back to the real essence of your core, beyond your mind & body. Doing this, will take you to a place within, where you will have just two emotions to choose. Love or fear. It’s simple, you just choose to live your life, with the emotion you recognise the most. You can do this on your own, at home, without looking for any external validation from anybody else.
For the longest time I thought I was some kind of clinical narcissist but after some therapy I discovered that I really just have Complex PTSD. Either way, it sucks.

I agree with some of the people here. I think my sister is a Machiavellian covert narc and she would never ever ever let anyone think she's anything other than the bestest, most humble Christian. I think she might be a criminal.
Wanted to watch this to see how much I can empathize. To see if you feel like it's a coping mechanism to deal with the core wound of being abandoned. Being social is so difficult because past experiences feel so unpleasant and that no one wants to deal with my automatic negative thoughts. And the tauma our planet is going through, all this is just logical. It takes energy to deal with stuff and I feel like my soul is going to tune me into it's own productive path.

Listen all human beings have similar characteristics, psychologist just try and create a bunch of labels Wich confuses the hell out of people. Patterns change and can vary from day to day month to month. If you realize you problems or what's causing problems in you or others life on an extreme level learn to work on them and change them and ur good.
Narcisissim is a pathology. Pathological thoughts that can only be resolved with a lifetime of therapy. This can vary. I don't condone unaware narcs but I dove in far enough where I can see they can potenially flourish. Been around a narcisisstic family member for over 20 years.

@stuartmalin661 that's your opinion, which you're entitled to. A self-aware person with Npd may absolutely be able to look into themselves even if their baseline differs. Npd is on a spectrum, so it's not really wise to group as all-encompassing.

Covert narc is one of the worst kind of humanoids there are. I was married to one for 25 yrs. I didn't know this until after he left. He nearly destroyed me. And you are right. Humans suck. It's the worst species ever. Your parents, I am curious about your upbringing. I know exactly what caused my x being one. His mother was a nar,c and his father was too. They gave him no attention, they did not nurture him, ignored all his feelings, sent him away to school when they saw him as a problem (a child is supposed to be with their family), and when he started doing drugs (to cope), then he was labelled bad, and some. How was your upbriging? did you ever make a video?

There is no cure. They skipped the part in life where a child learns to nurture and be nurtured. It permanently disables that part of the brain. God can't cure this. No one can. Usually, the mother is the guilty party, specially for males. A shitload of men have mommy issues, and they are nasty. They want to be close to women but they don't have personalities, they don't like themselves, and they feel deeply insecure and incapable. That's all masked, they don't show; they want to show the opposite of how they feel but it comes out as aggression. The rage they have inside, created in a dysfunctional childhood, is all they can feel. Empty, otherwise.
That's all they know is hate ,their incapable of love ,they have no empathy or remorse that's why they lie cheat and steal ,they mirror you to fake love , once you figure that out and realize you really fell in love with yourself and not them because they were mirroring you , that's when you will leave for good forever !

I don't think it's great to hate on anybody, however your comment seems to assume that this person has no responsibility for his own actions. Not so at all. The reason he is a child trapped in an adults body is because of his refusal to see life in anything other than the way he insists it is. Narcissists can go to therapy and they can make progress. The vast majority choose not to because they REFUSE to take ownership or responsibility for themselves. It's everyone else's fault. It's pride on steroids. Well, I think covert narcissism is more like the 2 split personalities. You're a different person out in public in front of strangers. Then you are around your family and girlfriend.. And to me, the most overt narcissist Unlike with my husband if some work associate tells him some good news. He'll be like all right man. That's great, but you tell him some good news. Or something that you're happy about and it's like. Oh, you think you're special and then said jealousy? I mean, you're just like oh, people are garbage. Your boy's garbage and I'm garbage and I don't really care. I mean, there's a lot more going on than narcissism here.

It's not that about you hating this and that, what you lack is purpose. You are using technology, was this made out of people like you with that current state of mentality? or by persons who gave 100% to figure things out?
Then what's purpose? Why is it special that I'm using technology just bc I can? Humans would just distract themselves with something else if it weren't here therefore it's not that big of a deal bc I can imagine you saying the same thing for what would be compensation in an alternate universe
