Kevin M although it's 4th popular out of the big 4 major sports it's had one.of the highest attendance with 22 out 31 teams has 95 percent attendance. That is pretty big. To say nobody in US cares about hockey is bullshit

Hunter7797 The DMV doesn't extend to Baltimore. It's only really Montgomery, Howard, Frederick, Anne Arundel, and Prince George's. Similarly it's only Northern Virginia, so about 4 counties there (I don't really go to VA so not too sure). To OP: I'm sure there are plenty of Capitols fans, but yeah the proportion is low. I only just now realized we won a Hockey championship because this video showed up on page 2 of my RU-vid recommendations.

I was working for the (Canadian) elections that day. 8 am to 9 pm. It was a nice treat to come home after a long day and be able to watch 2 periods of the game. :-).

I don't live in D.C. or are the Capitals my team. But I do like the Caps and Ovi is one of my favorite players. I am so glad you guys finally won the cup. It was time. It would have really been a shame if a first year expansion team took it away from this Caps team. Congratulations Caps And there fans !!

I'm a diehard Bruins fan but this was exciting!!! Being in the military and moving around a lot I've always supported the home team, unless they're playing Boston, and the atmosphere that takes over the city during Finals is outrageous! I lived in Italy in 2011 and getting up at 2 a.m. for game 7 was definitely worth it!

Wish I'd been there at this epic moment..Every matchday I woke up at 5 in morning in my Siberia to watch each other matches Little sad with it that I wasn't there in Celebration Big Party on DC streets..(Finally our Russians won that Cup..Finally Ovechkin won his first,but I think not the last,Stanley Cup..Kuznetsov was awesome in this play-off..All Team were Awesome..If they wasn't a Team,the One,then they won't win this Final..What a nice day today..Congrats CAPS!!!!!Congrats all the fans of CAPS!!!Congrats Ovie!!! Coming from a Flyers fan who I have a feeling won't live to see them win it all again anytime soon (though we did just get a Super Bowl, so that offsets that), I can say, be proud of it. After you guys avenged us and your previous two losses against the Penguins, I felt that you had a shot. I was overjoyed when Kuznetsov got that winning goal in overtime. And then, it happened. You can be proud of it. As UrinatingTree said, the memes are dead. His "Congrats, Capitals!" video was really big of him to do. Congrats!

AkamapD How about letting them do both? They are there, they feel it, they are living the life so why not also capture it? Nothing wrong with. Who knows when DC will get another champion. Most of us DC fans are younger than 30 so we didn't have the luxury of seeing the 1991 Skins win it all or 44 years ago the caps finally won. Let us do both as we will remember it and now forever know how it felt.

Mathias Worku I think that’s changing. The younger generation, the kids in high school (I graduated the day we won the cup) are moving away from football hockey and basketball are the bigger sports for us. Football is sorta just a tradition at this point with its declining ratings
