My latest gfrmdrd was 64. Serum Creatinine is 12. These figures have been going up and down but never below 64. Sometimes the creatinine clearance reaches the 70s or 80s. I'm 67 and I don't want my figures to go down. What are the normal figures for my age? I would be grateful if you could help. Thanks a lot and keep up the great job.

Dr Hashmi ... I've just found your videos while looking for information on plant based diets. I'm a long term kidney patient (in the UK), diagnosed at 15 years of age and now 63. eGFR steady at 22-26 since 2017. Your videos are SUPERB. You explain important concepts (like eGFR) very well - enough detail without overwhelming the viewer. I'm disappointed to say that I've never had proper renal dietary advice. I have all the risk factors (obese, borderline diabetes, no exercise, typical western diet). I am now determined to address the changes you have recommended and explained - thanks for your proactive guides to CKD.

i’m 24 and have been struggling with kidney disease high blood pressure for 4 years. earlier this year it entered stage 4. i started a whole food, plant based, kidney friendly diet and started going on 30 min walks every day as well as starting a yoga practice. my blood was regularly 170/100 even on 4 different medications but just 2 1/2 weeks later it’s gone down to 130/78 just the other day! can’t wait to see my nephrologist and see how it’s effected my blood tests

Wwll done Chelsea!!! I have kidney disease too. Cut out all added sugars and salt, 4 days ago and have been following a plant based diet for a couple of weeks. Feel great, just hope my blood results in October show an improvement. Very impressed and encouraged by the drop in your blood pressure!!! Keep up the good work!

I love hearing these testimonies such as yours. I went WFPB at the beginning of the year. My blood pressure was in the same range as yours even hitting 180/100. Within one week, I had to cut my blood pressure med in half. Another week later, I had to stop the med entirely. I've become an enthusiastic advocate of WFPB, but it makes me sad that so few people listen. I have friends and relatives who are diabetic, have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and various other ailments. Yet basically everyone dismisses it as vegan propaganda and doesn't believe it.

Hi. You should consider putting a link to the study in the description. I wasn’t really sure what they meant by bedtime snacking. What time period would qualify something as bedtime s snacking. Would eating 1 hour before bed by okay?

Excellent information - thanks! Today is my 4 year anniversary of the big kidney stone that put me into septic shock and the ICU for 2 weeks and nearly died. Changes made? Completely Whole Food Plant Foods now. Still walk 2 miles each day. No meds now, am healthy and recovered, still CKD from scarring and enlarged liver (because it did its job) but the food made the biggest difference of all. It's been an excellent 4 years :) Added: High blood pressure is now normal with no meds AND I've lost 22 pounds (at my goal weight and maintaining). Whole Food Plant Based is the answer. And not just plant BASED (no processed 'vegan frankinfood') but real whole plants.

Thank you, Dr Hashmi. Your other video where you're presenting to a conference brought me here. You're motivating me to switch to a plant based diet, low in sodium, coupled with increase in physical exercise. Meditation and intermittent fasting have also been on my mind and I'll be exploring that avenue too. (Age 50, egfr 69, BMI 24.0, blood pressure normal)

I will admit that the factors discussed here may have an influence on kidney disease. But this doc is missing THE principal factor in kidney disease, which is insulin resistance, brought about by too high a consumption of carbohydrates that cause too high a level of blood glucose. And if late night eating causes insulin to be lower, that is actually a good thing as high and increasing insulin levels cause fat storage. So reduced insulin levels can never be the reason of weight gain. There is enough and growing information on insulin resistance available, especially in English, that one can get involved in the principal subject instead of in peripheral details.

It surprises me that even people with healthy lifestyles have a high risk of kidney disease. I have PKD, I am doing my best to lose weight (I have a shwannoma on my spine so difficult to move at all - can't walk unsupported, don't sleep well etc. ) I don't smoke, very, very rarely drink alcohol. Gradually cutting out meat and going much more plant-based. Doing EFT and Matrix Reimprinting for my mental state - feeling much more positive. doing online courses to keep my brain active and prevent me from dwelling on the CKD. Also doing daily qi gong exercises seated and lying down. Thank you for all your help - Michelle too. (My blood pressure is gradually dropping. Hurrah!)

Ok what about vegetable refined oil(Sun flower canola Safflower)? Are they not making our kidneys sick because of refining chemicals being used?

Thank you for all the wonderful advice. Since starting a plant based diet and folliwing your other suggestions for three months, my blood pressure has dropped, the doctor stopped my diabetes medication, and I feel so much better. It's amazing! Next month I'll have kidney function tested again. I'm hoping to be one of your success stories.

Hi Dr. Hashmi, so I guess my question is in the first part of the video, you say that research finds that people who do not eat breakfast have a higher risk of CKD, but towards the end, you suggest Intermittent Fasting with a 16 hr fast and a 8 hour window to eat. So is that skipping supper and not eating after 4pm or ?

Your Awesome Sean I am one that has neglected my diet with sweets and too much protein and just bad habits in general, at 67 I have just learned I have a GFR of 58.8 and I am about to make a major change in my diet and exercise activities. I had KP transplant in 2005 and a K transplant in 2020. Have a long hx of water fasting. Since recovery of my last year of kidney transplant, I continue IF, been vegan for 16 years, and back to body building. Some days I spend up to 2 hours in the gym. I’m info weight training as I understand the immense benefits for bone strength. After 3 years of PD and transplant, I’m unstoppable! Maybe this will inspire others. Thank you for all your work and inspiration, Dr. Hashmi!!! 🤗🌱👍🙏
