please do blackpink’s pretty savage since the choreography is pretty controversial so i want to see your perception of it. and also the skills of each member performed in the choreo too. i understand that there might be blinks/blonks attacking u but that’s rlly on them. i am also curious to see how good lisa is as a dancer in ur opinion as well.

Just an idea but alot of non dancers and baby dancers have alot of misconceptions about dancing. I'd be nice if you do talk about misconceptions in dancing like weight, dynamics, versatility etc.

please Black Swan broke so many stereotypes and even the MV deserves a big recognition. They expressed the deep sadness of a musician's point of life, its a masterpiece!

let's start on what the author said, Inclusion of Contemporary elements in a KPOP Choreography is VERY RARE. We see K-pop choreos as idk how to phrase it but like pop-y. But Black Swan's Choreography is really enticing and beautiful, they also did the moves perfectly that even a contemporary dance instructor acknowledged it. Black Swan as we know is popular in the Ballerina Scenes. Here's the link of the reaction: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0uEaJD9XeXY.html. The instructor told a lot of helpful information there on how on point the choreo is. 2nd, the DEEP meaning of the song itself broke stereotypes. As we know, much songs nowadays talks about sex, parties, women and more. But for BTS to talk about how they feel as musicians and their fear is on a whole another level. In Black Swan, they were able to express the fear of the point in time of their music and performance will not reach the same level of meaning and excitement for them. How their happiness can also bring the fear they hate the most. Like what Martha Graham said, a world known influential American dancer, "A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful." 3nd, the MV and Trailer is just epic af. The Art Performance Trailer where the MN Dance Company danced was really really good. The MV itself was able to show the deep meaning of the song, the shadows, the theater, the mirrors. It shows the journey and sacrifices they made to pursue their art which is music. If you understand the song deeply, you'll realize everything is connected. Also Jimin and Jungkook wearing corsets and breaking gender clothing stereotypes is a great point too, although we all know KPOP nowadays are breaking gender norms by Male Idols wearing skirts and more. Over-all its not the typical boy group comeback, but it means a lot. They talked about the fear that someday their music would stop and everything would die down. I swear this song and the MV deserves MORE RECOGNITION!!

Black Swan itself saved me. At the middle of 2019 i got an accident. I was diagnosed with fracture, left leg just right above my ankle. It damaged very bad and the operation scar got a serious infection. I nearly diagnosed with bone's infection which will lend me to amputation. It means, i can't dance, anymore. Black Swan and the album as a whole saved me, it give me power to not give up and keep positive that i will overcome that and can dancing like usual. Now, i'm fine and healthy. The infection scar give me courage, memories, and a reminder.

You did it again! Woohoo! As an ARMY, I am so happy for you to make an analysis of this masterpiece. Cannot wait for the other choreographies to be analysed next. Initially, I didn't like black swan with the hip.hop beats in it because I treasure the orchestral version so much. I didn't know how they were going to dance on this because the vulnerability and emotions that the orchestral version showed was mind blowing. I didn't know if this version (the album version) was gonna strike the same chord of my heart with its choreo or not, until I saw it. I am also amazed how freaking in sync were the moves and how uniquely it was executed! Once I saw it, I was like "This is perfect!" For the song and ever since then, BlackSwan's choreo became my favourite. Tbh, sometimes I wish this was the title track rather than ON but that's just my opinion. Seeing BTS go slow and be delicate with their moves but then cool and hard at times, during this song, felt so refreshing and unique to me. Thank you once again for putting your time and effort to analyse this. I sincerely appreciate it 💜

This is soooo interesting. I was already mesmerize by the song itself but also the choreo. To me contemporary dance seem very technical, but what I appreciate even more for a KPOP content is that they contemporary is really on the emotional part. Like not every KPOP choreographies shows lots of emotions, it's often complementing the lyrics or the rythm, but not always showing lots of emotions and gracefulness. Black Swan is super interesting an well done considering not all member are super familiar with this type of choreo. Also thank you for this nice analysis !

This reminds me of an article i read about Bts's Triple J's special showcase where they did three dance covers that each of them personally liked. The Person, although liked the performance and was happy about all members getting to shine on their own tastes and as a group, talked about how in most of the Kpop choreographies the dance genres are blended in to the point of not even looking like how it should have been originally and how it was such a shame that people liked these choreographies because it straight up either embodied the rhythm or lyrics. This comment got way out of topic but what i meant to say is, i'm so glad that Black Swan blended hip hop and contemprory dance in such a way that they both shined and showed their strengths while not losing their essence(i think?) so yeah hopefully bts shows more choreographies like this in the future. Thank you so much for breaking Blac Swan down for us! I think everyone knew in one way or another how great both the song and choreography was but having a professional explaining it clearly is amazing, again thank you for doing this. I'll be looking out for other additions to this series.

4:12 Something I want to mention here, the pattern that members leave one by one is really similar the birds leaving pattern. When there is a group of birds going to migrate, they tend to start to leave one by one as well.

Black Swan is a gem in a sea of great choreographies in K-pop, the way they incorporated other genres, like Contemporary with hip-hop to make a unique style is a sight to behold because it's rare to see that in K-pop! 유ㅍ유 If you can see this, can you review INFINITE's 'Last Romeo' choreo on this series? The choreo may not be as advanced as the quality of dances this gen but it holds up for its catchy routine in its chorus, and unique and complex formation changes that is considered ahead of its time back when it was released, imo.
