What Makes Suspiria the ULTIMATE Remake? 

Despite some audio problems, and footage missing from the final edit... it's not a bad little vid. The channel and content are brand-spanking new, maybe it'll catch on? I engage in hyperbole quite a bit, so bear with me. It's not a 'bad' film per se, but a film that should have been better. As with with anything, taste is subjective - and yes, there's a ton of love and craft that went into it... but IMO it's excessive which leads to pacing issues. Had some of the excess fat been trimmed, I feel it would be something I'd enjoy re-watching. Jackson didn't know when to 'kill his darlings' so to speak. And yes, I'm aware of the irony of Suspiria (2018) being overly-long and quite excessive at times... I guess the material just clicks better for me, perhaps. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It IS sad that we'll never get that sequel - I have 3 more Suspiria vids coming, and I speak to (what little we know) of what was supposed to be "Suspiria: Part Two." If I ever manage to scrounge together 20mil USD, I'll be sending Luca a cheque. It legit kills me, because the writer envisioned the remake as a two part story. @@workingmemories2213 I was lucky enough that there's this small independent cinema back in my home town that mostly just plays indie films original with subtitles (which is nice cause back in Spain everything is always dubbed in normal cinemas and I can´t stand dubbed films as you miss the whole point of the actual performance from the actors). I know there´s a lot of Argento aficionados that didn´t like the remake... but honestly, out of the context of when the original was made, Argento could never make a film as the remake. Because I also give a lot of the merit to Nicoladi in both Suspiria and Inferno. Hence the choices made in Mother of Tears... So I think Guadagnino actually builds the universe and setting for the 3 mothers better. But in Argento´s case, it mostly works in Suspiria and Inferno (mostly Supiria) which to me are the only two films in the universe as I really don´t acknowledge Mother of Tears haha. Because what makes Suspiria Surpiria to me in the first place is how nightmarish and other worldly it is. How theatrical and "fake" it feels as if happening on a stage. As if watching through a filter. Sort of like what happens in films like Pink Narcissus. And to me, Guadagnino is able to capture this feeling. Even if it is in a more grounded realistic colour palette, the film still feels like a dream, an other worldly nightmare. A trance enhanced with the focus on the dancing aspect. A feeling completely missing in Mother of Tears to me. Cause I´ve read Argento saying how he doesn´t like the remake etc and I always wonder... But you like what you did with that 3rd film? ​@@drianbgar3603 I get your point about dubbed films, but I just try and read really fast 😬 I also give a lot to Daria for this and Inferno - and I certainly don't acknowledge Mother of Tears... it's just dreadful. I've skimmed it once and was super bummed out. Maybe I'll revisit if I ever have the stomach for it. I like how you refer to the original as if it were happening on stage - that's an interesting take. I feel the same about the first Evil Dead. LOL @ "but you like what you did with that 3rd film?" I obviously didn’t feel that it was a slog - I would think that all the content I’ve made about the film would make that plainly obvious. It’s only a slog if you ignore all the awesome stuff the film has to offer… you might want to stick watching The Nun or whatever 😂
