i was recently diagnosed with alopecia areata. I'm 16 years old and always had very full hair so it is really hard for me at the moment. At the moment it seems like it's growing back and watching those kinds of videos helps me keep a positive mindset like "even if I lose more or all of my hair i can be beautiful and happy"

My daughter Lydia is 8 yrs old and was diagnosed 3 years ago. She has had a tough time coping with her hair loss as well and some days are better than others. Hang in there. *hugs*

My 8 year old was diagnosed with alopecia at age 5 and has been on a rollercoaster of emotions from accepting her baldness (she had long beautiful hair) to excessive teasing and bullying. I wish there was a way she could meet other girls with alopecia to give her confidence and remind her of how beautiful she is on days when it is particularly tough to deal with. Any words of encouragement is appreciated. Her name is Lydia and she's in 3rd grade. Since we changed schools, she deals with much less teasing but there's a boy in her class who calls her "cancer girl" and embarrasses her in front the class whenever the teacher steps out. I am arranging a meeting with her teacher but I know this type of thing doesn't stop here. Bald is beautiful and people ought to know that. I just showed Lydia this video while waiting for her school bus to arrive and she left smiling.

I didn't get alopecia until I was an adult, but there is so much I can relate to this- not wanting to take my wig off, hiding my spots, feeling like a badass once I went fully bald, rubbing my head like it was foreign, how learning to do my eyebrows changed my world. you can tell how mature she is from what she's went through - being different from everyone else was very challenging for her and she's been through a lot. it must have been awful feeling so alone. when she met others like her it's like she found her inner confidence and I think that's beautiful. she's also very pretty she has like the perfect headshape I'm jealous :3

I'm obsessed with bald/shaven headed women. Obsessssssssssssed. I've been like it since I was a child. I always thought it was the coolest, coolest look and it was what I imagined all people would look like in the future. This beautiful human being has such awesome attitude it shouts at you through the screen. Kudos to you my friend, enjoy every second of your life.

I have Alopecia universalis, it makes me feel empowered as an adult. You realize that your hair isn’t who you are and just how much women end up hiding behind it. I only wish people didn’t feel like they deserve answers to strange questions like “does the carpet match the drapes?” “What cancer treatments are you doing?” Etc... you look beautiful keep rockin the look! #baldisbeautiful

Honestly, she is beautiful and I get very positive vibes from her. Meanwhile I have quite thick and healthy hair on my head, but can't show my arms, legs, back or belly because I'm too hairy. We all have our problems with ourselves I guess.

I'm just now transitioning to wigs and it's taken a lot of trial and error (and tears) but she gives me the confidence to rock a shaved head with pride :) Good on you honey keep kicking ass!

I went to High School w her and she was rlly cool and I remember during the school poetry slam one year she said something about grades being in degrading in her poem and it just rlly stuck w me n I liked her ever since that moment

Nell, you are incredible! Hope you can see my message! I didn't lose all of my hair until my 50's! The things that you went through really hurt my heart! I too, experience the heat overload of a wig and swimming is always a challenge! I used to read about the alopecia conferences! So wonderful if that's the one you went to in the past! You are an inspiration to me!! Lovely head and shape!! All assets!! Most of all, it is your courage and inner strength that you have created within yourself! These virtues are what so many of us need to build in ourselves!

I was diagnosed with alopecia at 4 years old lost all my hair when I had my second son at 21 hearing you thought I was hearing myself. Thank you for your braveness. My friend made the comment I could do the bald look I want to do this took me 10 years to accept I'm bald but I'm still missing the confidence I had in myself where I strongly could hold my head up high with the look n walk to go along with it. Maybe going bald is the way

I have Alpopecia as well and growing up I would always have to hide it because if I didn't I was bullied and people would bully me until the day that I attempted suicide. It was hard for me to get into a relationship the guy I am with now witnessed a person ripping off my wig in school and even though he and I were not dating he still stood up for me. I hid in the bathroom and ended up going home because I was scared and did not want to be around people. Now that I am 26 and if that were to happen I would laugh and say you think its going to hurt me yeah its a wig yeah I spent money on it but no I am not upset about it anymore

Such a beautiful lady who reflects what many people experience. When I lost my hair though Alopcia it was tough initially but after 6 months I made a similar decision and adopted it and now am happy not to have hair. Would love eyebrows and lashes though.

I also have alopecia but my hair grew back like 2 years ago witch i am very lucky with i still have a few bald spots tho i'm 15 now but i had no hair when i was 8-13 years old so i can relate with everything you say
