Takeaway: MX doesn’t pamper citizens. Few safeguards. USA gives pretense of caring w/guardrails, safe railings, unionized measured legal steps. USA is invested - Big Pharma - in belief of deny, defy death. If you die it’s your fault. A nanny state that coddles. I appreciate MX reckoning & celebrating death. I hear they are getting more strict on people who are not in Mexico legally and aß more people move there and it Mexico gets more crowded I can see them starting to enforce the laws even more as they should. Too many people not obeying the laws can get out of hand. I'm not going to move there but if I did I would want to do it all legally. I would like to visit Mexico someday when I decide what places to visit. So many choices. I am happy for you that you finally found your happy place. I had to laugh when you described the bounty hunter. I used to watch him. Don't think he is active anymore since his wife died. She was a big part of his show. He is married to someone else now and I think retired so you probably don't have to worry about him anymore.

Are you in the Macro Plaza, Altibrisi, or Grand Plaza area. I have been in the Macro Plaza for 18 months. This is similar weather to Orlando, Florida where I have lived forever.

How is the heat actually like? I’m debating visiting in October from Playa del Carmen but I hear Merida is like an absolute oven for heat. Glad to hear you’re enjoying the lifestyle there!

@@laurenm5335 Its the same kind of Heat you will find in most tropical places close to the beach. Very Hot and humid during most parts of the year. It is like Miami or Cancun. Always hot and sunny. Things start to cool down a bit during the winter. I would suggest just doing a quick google search and look for yearly weather cycles so you can get more exact numbers. Some people hate the Heat others LOVE it. I personally prefer the heat over the cold that is why i like it here, plus the beach or cenotes are only a short drive away.

You don't need to live without plumbing in Mexico. Most houses have rudimentary plumbing. Just don't flush toilette paper.

If you even remotely love Italian food...go to Dal Baffo....you will be amazed....and do the English bus tour IT will help you understand the city...VERY HARD AT THE BEGINING get it by Santa Maria Parque once a day.....I wish I did it earlier than I did....Map at Book store at the Main Plaza...where all the action is...

@@alainjairamador9313 Yes, I liked Merida, its got a lot to do and see and I'd highly recommend it. However it's too hot to live there so I'm going to look into other parts of Mexico before I decide on moving to a particular spot!

There are parts of Mexico where theres a lot of black Mexicans due to past history believe it or not. It's interesting because they are a mixed nation as well. There's a lot of different types of mestizos, there are Mexicans mixed with Asian and Filipino as well depending on the part of Mexico you go to.

You feel "at peace" in Mexico because you are clueless as to the reality of everything, whereas in America you can find out everything! If the world economy collapses (and it will) you are just as F'd in Mexico as in the US and maybe even more-so! Mexicans are beginning to despise Americans who settle there! After the money system disappears and you become, you hold your hand out and they will bury you first!

That sounds like a great suggestion. My mom was paying $8,000 a month to stay in an assisted living facility in the US and the quality of care was just ok. It was absurd. When she finally went into a nursing home they cleaned her out. It was sad. So anyways I think it would be great for people to consider mexico as an alternative. Their family values and work ethic would seem that you'd get good care.

Lived in chiapas from Sept to March 178 days and I loved it. If you're living in the 🇺🇸 on social security of 1000 or less the poorest state in Mexico chiapas is the place to go. I smoke and I frequent coffee shops I don't drink booze but I drink diet cokes all day and I was living , not surviving on around 700 to 800 USD a month. It can be done and you don't have to budget but you will not live like a king 👌. Wish I could get temp residency but I'm not receiving a big enough pension. I'll have to go for 180 days at a time then start over but first with the cash I saved I'm going to try SE Asia. Just use your common sense and you will be ok. You will not afford Mexico City unless you are living in a big city in the states 😆

Hi I left California in 2016 and bought a home cash in Iowa. Traveling back and forth to both states I realized I hate both states for different reasons. I will be moving to Mexico at the end of the year. Perhaps we can meet for a coffee or taco sometime in the future.

Just new set of perimeters. Started going to Mexico in 1967 Tepic San blas Atacama.was twenty concrete houses .in Atacama It's not the same as then by any means . Major city now or major for me . I've been on the Pacific from USA boarder to Cabo and back north on inside of Mexico to USA border and back to Marina del Rey ..on a thirty five ft sail boat with five people.seven months Then north to lake Washington in WA state .I was twenty five .two year ago I flew in to Puerto Vallarta and moved to old town for six months.For the next five years I did six months a year .I built a small cabin on the mountain behind old town up 1000 ft .no roads just a trail going up the mountain.we packed all the building materials by hand .from concrete to water wood and roofing . Was a hoot .I bought a house in a town to the south east in the high desert.about twelve hours north of Mexico city .two lots and two room concrete house old . bunch Orange trees.ive been back three times .I payed 1420 dollars for .that was seven years ago .I went from pourta Vallarta to Guatemala .went to every major city .Mexico city was more freindly with its twenty plus million folks.the pass we came over to get their took 8 hrs to top and eight to the bottom.if you live your live to see what's around the corner Mexico is beyond awesome .my last trip was done in twenty five days and involved a lot of driving . Don't drive at night on theses mountain roads .you cut your chances of getting in a wreck.are doubled.iam American speak poquito espanol.this last adventure I traveled with my maid her mom who was 84 and her husband .my friends spoke little to none .but we had a adventure going thru the Mayan ruins Olmec ruins . Met a lot of Wonderful people and most were not all but most .best not to go out at night unless your with a few people you can trust .I've lived in San Vicente.los cuntos veranos pourta Vallarta central .but I liked it in old town better ...theirs places you are better to stay out of promise.use common sense. The people make very little money so . You should pay attention.or you will loose your possessions again promise . The cash machines at the banks are better to use than the stand alone machines gain I promise. I got scammed at a cash machine in Cabo San Lucas had a reader I never even knew till I was out of money .number one keep your wallet in your front pocket .don't pack lots cash . You are being watched again promise . I've been from top to bottom and back and forth. It is a third world country but if you play by the rules it can be a great adventure good food and cheap .ps please if the service was excellent tip the same if it was just ok tip accordingly.i ate in a few places that the food was good service great and not expensive..If you get away from the tourist say five blocks things come down in price .again tip . What I noticed and I would find a place I liked the food and I would eat their a lot . Better I tipped more food I received. And the better service I received .I sat with the owners after while . I tip the kitchen mostly. Where the food comes from just my opinion.Smile tip and enjoy the senery.Its big from the mountain on the boarder of bc and was state

Too often expectations drive outcomes. MX is like a LSD trip. You just never know. Guaranteed it’ll be fascinating tho. Decades. There was that 1 time too much curiosity “What’s over that next hill?” dropped us right into cartel campo. Flatbeds loaded. Knee’s knocking. Nearly 2 hrs of…getting away. Alive. No more “Roads less traveled.” MX is still, to me, the coolest place on Planet Earth.

What people think freedom is in Mexico, actually is the absence of the State in many areas of our lives, for the better sometimes, for the worse, extremely worse on others, and I think you’ve perceived it quite well. If your income does not depend on the Mexican economy, Mexico could indeed be a paradise if you choose your living place wisely... I love Mexico to death and it brakes my soul thinking about there’s no solution for our problems, it’s just impossible to work together for the common good, and that’s why we decided to leave for Germany. I miss it every day, but I’m glad that others can have a better life there seeking other things they cannot have at home. Greetings! G.

@@JoseArteagaTravels In Mexico there’s always an authority present, sometimes is the State and on others are strong groups of people filling the voids the State does not want to fill. That’s the issue I was referring to: in the worst case scenario we talk about organised crime, in a benign scenario is just a stupid neighbour that wants to park more vehicles near his house and hence abuse others... But you’re right, perception is singular, and if you are able to found what you’re looking for, things change for the better!

I have lived in both the upper and middle class of the US population and agree with his sentiments completely. The freedoms in the US are a farce. It's not even debatable after 2020 although those who've studied history will tell you we never actually had them. It was only a concept that we failed to establish as those in power used their resources to repeatedly squash any resistance and convince the population through propaganda that we had any semblance of freedom to begin with. Unfortunately the vast majority of people are easy to persuade with little effort as they simply do not think.

Agree with you, sadly Mexico through his eyes is not the same through a foreigners eyes. When you stand out and don't exactly blend in, be it color of your skin, nationality, in some areas you are an easy target. People are not just making up being extorted by Mexican police, or being scammed in restaurants or by the lady in the supermarket smearing ketchup on you to have her accomplice snatch your wallet. Mexico is beautiful but, the crime towards non natives does exist and its disappointing. We fron the US are trying to escape the violence only to be met with more of it.

@@JoseArteagaTravels What happens if you’re on disability in the US ?? Right now I get my money on a card. I’m sure they’ll know I’m out of the country?? Or can I live in M and still collect my SSDI and SSI. I think if that was straight I’d move in a heartbeat! What about Cartels? Cartel Violence? The U.S. makes it sound like M is a war zone! Maybe the Cartels are just bad by the border towns?? In the video it didn’t look like no war zone but things change at night , know what I’m saying?!

Great point! Caveat is that those people with millions of dollars can also afford security so chances of foreigner getting kidnapped a very minimal. Only group of people who actually do have a problem with kidnapping are young Mexican women. Unfortunately no one dares to talk about that reality..... That's another story for another day.
