Wow you are busy. I'm tired just watching all those projects..I was hoping the coop was done..I have been wondering about you, glad your well and making your homestead just BEAUTIFUL 😍
Thanks for the update Becky! Everything looks so lush and pretty and love seeing the animals especially the one ones at the very end with that fantastic energy.
I’m so glad to see someone work on different projects at different times. Some people want to work on a project until it’s done and then start another. I can’t always do that. I’m working on my fall garden and building a chicken run and I have baby birds. I have plans to make a dress from a new pattern and I want to make Bible covers and Bible bags to sell. If I get stuck on a project, then I jump to something else until I can figure it out. Sometimes the answers to problems come to me in dreams.
Great to see the updates Becky! Everything is looking wonderful!! Abby updates on Scott's place? Would love to see how's that going house is going too! Have a great day. 😁
Becky!! i’ve been watching you on and off since i was younger, i started watching you when i was probably 13, now i’m 18, every once in awhile i stumble upon your page and remember all the memories, you’re so inspirational, and i hope to live like you one day!! also you look amazing!!
Thank you for sharing. very encouraging, I have learned so much already. I'm about to build my first Chicken Coop. I will be looking at you new coop. to see what can I learn. Thanks.
Omgosh Becky lol- I’m so glad we’re kindred spirits …! I’m so like you … I go out to my homestead, and of course take care of the important stuff first , but… I work on whatever floats my boat at the time lol - I’ve got a few projects I’m working on simultaneously ! They all get done - just not all at once 😀 Have fun at the homestead is my motto !
I always like your videos; mostly just to listen to your upbeat voice and enthusiasm. I enjoy learning as well, but the former makes it all so enjoyable.
we just picked up some new baby chicks to add to our flock. current flock assists of six white leghorns we had several more than that but we had to give half away due to getting way too many eggs. leghorns are about 4 years old now and they've actually slowed down on the laying of the eggs so we decided to get some new chicks. I'm going to be introducing these new chickens to a 4-year-old flock will probably wait till they're at least 6 to 8 weeks old before even attempted so this should be fun. hoping it goes smoothly because the pecking order is well established in the old flock.
There you are! Bin wondering about you and YIKES...have you bin busy! Kudos Sunshine Becky! I too gravitate to doing several things at a time...kinda like; smorgasborg job picking...but if it works for you...Enjoy! Looks like U R having too much fun!! That chicken coop will be lovely. Don
@@BeckysHomestead Haven't seen you pop up in my feed for a while so went searching for you. Homestead life must suit you, you appear years younger than the last time I watched your vids.
It looks like you're having so much fun! Everything looks so pretty and peaceful! I am thankful for your update, as I was thinking of you yesterday. Glad you're well. We are in the process of moving and I am exhausted-- you know how that is😉
Pre-done homesteads? No, not here either Becky! We love to do the stuff for ourselves, a sense of accomplishment! :) Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN :) SO GLAD YOU'RE DOING GOOD OUT THERE! :)
Love your videos and they helped a lot figuring out things. One thing I did after getting our baby chics was to take a wind up toy similar in size to the chics and used it to peak at the food and water and all of them took right to it. Thought I would share a little bitty idea I had.
You are so much fun to watch and see what's going on on your homestead. Thanks for sharing! Cannot wait to see your meat bird adventure and extended pasture area!
Yeah Becky, thanks for the update. I love your channel, you caught my attention years ago, and I am a follower. I have learned so much from you. Thank you...keep videos coming
Hi new friend to your channel. I like all the livestock you have and that you are doing it yourself. I'm going to be expanding things in my garden so I need inspiration from people who are doing what I want to be doing. Peace 😊
Looks awesome! I used to have some meat chicks like thoes white ones. If you feed them like regular chickens they grow WAY too fast and become deformed from their own growth. Cant hold themselves up etc. So my grandpa and I figured to feed them lower protein food amd not as much so they grow slow and dont break. Love your channel!
It is exhausting to start over, especially if one is nearing 70, ") but me and husband are doing it. This time very small scale. Loving what all you are doing. In Joy
The absolute best of all bests chicken breed is the standard cochin!!! I have 5 and I call them my breakfast club. They look like they have robes and slippers on. I sit on a chair in my chicken yard and all 5 come running to jump on my lap. BTW...they are also the 2nd largest breed of chicken. They are so friendly they are like feathered dogs.
I give you so much credit for all that you have been able to accomplish. It looks like a wonderful and fulfilling life... I hope you're happy with it. For years I have wanted to Homestead and now not sure I have the stamina. Even more confused about WHERE to build my dream. Property taxes and government intrusion could ruin an otherwise wonderful life. Even thinking of leaving the USA and Homesteading in a country that is quieter and simpler... Anyway... Best to you!
So proud of your accomplishments! Love your chickens. We have an acre and it’s unrestricted we have our RV on it for now. Maybe chickens in our future and a log cabin!
So great to see your projects. I'm getting an addition on my house now so I can have first floor living. Looking forward to living on my property forever!
Good morning! ☀️☕️ Love to see your updates and new additions. Very cool that you added some meat birds. Can’t wait to see the finished coop, the hens will be over the moon! The dogs at the end made me laugh…I have a feisty chihuahua too. 😂🤣
Hi Becky. It's all coming along very nicely. I am so jealous. Lol I'm stuck in a small apartment. No yard :( I was wondering did your cabin fare well after the move ? Anything break inside ? God Bless :)
Great to see the update, and the progress you are making! I do miss seeing the front porch you had at your original location. "Chicken Town II" is looking good! When do you think you'll have it finished? Where is Scott? How is his house coming along?
I couldn't kill my pets. All my chickens have names and total personalities. I know we have to eat. I guess if I would have to trade in a SHTF situation for something else get meat from someone else unless it was shrimp or salmon. I find in later years even that would be hard but I could do that. I love your videos, Becky. Thank you. You are such an inspiration. You really got a much larger space, didn't you. How many acres now? looks like at least 5. I checked and hay really went up in Florida, so can see why you want more grazing.
Yayyy !! So glad we got an update !! It all look's so great , ,and you look AMAZING , my friend !!!! Congratulations on it all and post more video's when you can !! Put a BIG smile on my face 😁😃
Hi Becky ! You are my favorite homesteader to watch ! I love your happy attitude 🌹🌈🌺thanks for all of your great ideas !! I have chickens also, my favorite hen has been sick , I hope Rollie gets better . We have been giving her epsom baths in case she’s egg bound
I think I am halfway there into the homestead living, but I still have a full time job so I can feed all the critters 😆😆😆, can anybody give me some suggestions on how to find cheaper ways to feed the chickens?? I let them free range and I just learned they can eat grass clippings, but more ideas sure will help...
Please do some video and chat while you work or when done for the day at the end. Miss your take on things. Even just chatting in the cabin. Give a pet to all your pets!🐷🐴🐔🐱🐶🐥
Love your channel I have been watching you for years on my other account, financially budgeting to eventually move into a much more simple happy life on my own property
Thank you for replying Becky. Your suggestion of a dog is a good idea for my rat problem. ( maybe even protection for your free ranging poultry ? Does your cat help with this at all ? Lovely to hear from you.
Those baby chicks would love to have some of my organically fed red worms. They are perfect food for healthy chickens that produce healthy eggs. Mix them into the veggie and fruit scraps.
I have never seen a chicken that didn't eat oats. Skip the am feeding and then scatter a handful of oats on the ground in the pm, then wait, leave them alone and see how that goes.☀️❤️☀️
Becky - I have been watching your site for about twenty years, since starting our own little homestead. We have learned much of what we know from you and Scott. There are so many critters around ( foxes, raccoons and the occasional coyote ) that we have to keep our hens in a run attached to their coop. I noticed today that some of your hens and the guinea are free ranging. Are you not having `critter` problems on your new property ? Do you have barn cats to keep your mice/rat problem down ? In spite of having food locked down in metal bins and no food overnight in the coop we are having problems. I am now handicapped and not able to do much outside anymore - but still try to keep an eye on everything. Including your vlogs. Your new `place` looks wonderful and so glad you are happy. Muriel R
Here's a true story; when we first mover over here the neighbor told me that there were big rats in the big old wood pile. About a week or so later here comes Murphy with a huge rat. A good farm dog that stays outside works great for me☀️❤️☀️
Lookin good! How many acres do you have? I was wondering how many it takes (approx) per animal -horses chickens, hog, goats etc. just wanted to get an idea of how much space is needed to have a proper homestead. Thanks for the update!
You will have to feed your animals no matter what, so it doesn't pay to have too many acres. Keep in mind taxes and the cost of fencing on a huge property☀️❤️☀️
Thank you for the response but I think you may have misunderstood my question. I already own a home with a little land out in the country but much of it is wooded & hilly & I was hoping to get an idea of how many acres would need to be cleared in order to turn my land into a homestead similar to what u have. It appears that you’re able to comfortably house chickens, guineas, horse(s), hog, mule, etc. The camera was showing that all the animals seemed to be spread out comfortably. If the question of acreage is too personal would u mind giving your opinion on basic or bare minimum acreage allotment or a guesstimate of averages for the same amount of animals that u have? Thank you!
@@victorybase5847 I have a 1/3 acre and that's more than enough for my 10 dogs ,and the flock, right now we are working on finishing the chicken coop. So it's really a matter of when do you want to start?? Sounds like you have the land ,you just need the will to do it.
Hi Becky! Your coop looks great, but would a dirt floor be too drafty for chickens living in a climate that gets cold winters, we have temperatures of 19 degrees and below during winters where I live. Also, my brother and sister-in-law’s flock contracted Fowl Pox, would it be a good idea to vaccinate my flock against it? I wouldn’t want to visit my bother and sis and bring that disease to my flock.
instead of burning all that, why not just toss into the chicken run or pig run so it breaks down? or just toss into an unused part of your property for wildlife habitat?
When you are doing it a by yourself and debt free it takes a lot of time and everything isn't perfect looking! LOL ,I know i'm doing it alone and it's taking a longer time when you have so many projects to work on.
