What matters, in my opinion, is that if you invest and earn more money in addition to dividends, you will be able to live off of dividends without selling. It implies that you can pass that on to your children, giving them a head start in life. I've invested over $600k in dividend stocks over the years; I continue to buy more today and will continue to do so until the price lowers even further.

Yes, I agree as well. Our father taught us always to stop and clean up the work site and shop on a regular basis, to ensure you know where the tools are and with the sawdust and wood debris gone, it makes for a safer work site.

I especially like your plans for more roofing and temporary roofing. If you can get a roof or temporary roof over the centre section that will really be worth your while. It will stop water getting into most of the basement and give everything chance to start drying out. Some bits must be completely saturated right through after 40 years of rain. The slower you can let it dry out naturally, the better.

That birch could be considered emblematic. If it leafs out this Spring, maybe it could be transplanted, and at least one of the “chateau trees” could survive and be recognized. But who knows what kind of roots could be extracted.

Looking great . If you get a construction hoist bolted to the outside you can bring up and remove most materials without ladders and winches to all levels . .
