Thanks for the information brother, I’m new to cigars and just started my own Tupperdor after watching your videos a few weeks ago. I’ve watched all your videos and really enjoy your channel 👍

Really solid video, you strike a balance between being thorough and helpful without being prescriptive, cos as you say... it comes down to personal preference and if the cigars are performing well for you. Have already tweaked some of my Raching settings, I smoke outside too and temp jump was too high resulting in squishy smokes. Thanks again!!

Great video brother! 👍 The thing is, you have to remember why you need humidity in cigars? to simply preserve the oils and resin which offers all those delicious flavors, water serves as a barrier to reduce the speed of natural oil evaporation. what does that tell us? it means that there are 2 different HR. In Tupperware, and remember temperature play a big BIG role the lower the less HR 1.HR to preserve and age ( the higher the better 70°F/82% = 12.76 gH2O/kg of course there is a limit for mold) and 2.the other to smoke ( 70°F/63% = 9.8 gH2O/kg) it is also important when drying the cigar to do so in a closed environment like a dry box because in an open environment you will lose too much oil into the air. this way you ensure not only to choose the perfect smoking humidity for each cigar (great burn), but also a lot A LOT! of flavor 🤌

I got the CI Conneticut Cuban Wheel. Dominicans. After the Diesels. These began to unravel at the cap r8ght beforecI got to the cap. Later on Nick Perdomo's youtube channel I found out Nicarauguans were better at 65%. The others at 70%. Then I got the NeedOne.

Hey AJ, just subscribed and appreciate your info. I have always kept the rh @ 72% and recently dropped down to 67%. As far as temp usually 70, give or take.

I use 65% Bovedas in all my tupperdors. Have a temp/humidity sensor in all of them, RH at 61-63%~ish. Minimum 25% free space and air them out every few weeks for a few minutes. Keep them in a cooler at a constant 20c.

Pulled out a La Perla Havana Black Pearl Tojo Belicosso. Unit 5%. 48% 50 % foot 60% cap. A tad harsh. Very good still. Burned ok. Two miner touch ups. The only cigar this batch that read this low and the only one a tad harsh. Well worth the savings on Boveda. No cracks. Cigar lasted an HR.

I did not put new batteries in my hygrometer as reccomended by the factory after 9 months. Relieved NeedOne Julyb1 2022 and put batteries in July 6. This may be effecting accuracy but the up and down is just as fast as ever.

Since March of 23 I have had a continuously 55%-70% cycle with 3 splashes. Test8ng NeedOnes reccomendation of 55%-65% RH for cigars. Since putting the first Beveda in a few months ago it has maxed at 64%. Instead of 70% or sometimes 75%. Nowctwo Bovedas in and it is stably reading 63%. My c8gar read8ngs seem to validate that as accurate yet 64% 8n the plastic container. Sensors may only read accurately when placed in the slot des8ghned for it.

I have been useing the moisture container in MT NeedOne 48 Litre for since day one July 5 2022. Cigars have been ok. Been able to get humidor 65° 65% 65° 70% 70° 65% 70° 70%. I use Cigarmedics Humidimeter. Oddly at high humidity cigars remained at low humidity Lowe humidity cigars are at a higher humidity. Been useing 3 splashes and letting humidity go from 55% to 70%. Back down. The last two cycles with 3 cedar boxes humidity has gone tov62% or 63 %. One 69% Boveda on the top box remains in stasis. Privada Cigar Club uses 2-3 60 g Boveda in a 150 quart cooler without cedar. Unitvkept at 67°. Ambient temp 78°. Humidity low in Colo. Unit drops avg 1% per day for getting one cigar and remains stable despite Hole for condensation.

Well my two 60 g Bovedas have lasted a long time. NeedOne hole left unplugged. Took until now for my Caliber IV to read 68%. Gars are 57%-62% with the humidimeter. Been trying g to f8gure out why my cigars got a uniform salty taste. Probably accelerated fermentation with the 40% full water box. Pulled out a Sherpa Black. Read 59%. Was salty at first. Smoke smelled like glue. Then the normal chocolate and spice profile kicked in. Smokecsmelled like regular combustion. Took this long to get ammonia? Out of gars. Unbelievable glue smell occurs. Got a Blackbird sampler from Neptune. First gars out salt and glue. W more like this. Then one bitter. One normal. The Crow. One undecided. NeedOne now has an ionizer in some models. Perhaps an ammonia extracter. For a while I thought someone got into my apt and smoked meth or crack. NeedOne needs an ammonia extracter. The sampler didn't spend a month in my humidor.

In late Sept 22 I was freaked to see the readings of my Cigars go up despite the hygrometer going down. Indicating the ceder was releasing moisture probably in molecules smaller than tobacco cells into the cigars. Possibly I think. Yet when the humidity was up the feet remained in the 50's. The Bahias had a much richer flaver with the feet at 70%-72%. Odd observations.

the sistema's are not air tight. i found this out by having cigars and boveda in them and storing them in my closet where there is no draft, the RH is stable and right. but when i take them out into another room without opening them the RH drops. then after inspecting them i can see gaps in the corners where the gaskets are not sealed . then i did the water test and failed. but its probably better than most wood humidors

Strangely the 3 splash round trip last as long as going fromn77% full container to 15% full but humidity is not stable. With fully seasoned ceded the picture of 2 60 g packets is probably accurate. I have just the one tray 3 shelves.

Mine has the blue 2 LED strips under a square plastic dome. Kept on 24/7. No discoloration. Mine just cools. Someone did a test of these digital Hygrometer and found out 80% are accurate. I believe mine is accurate. Ounce the cedar is seasoned temp is no longer effective at regulating humidity. At first I seasoned for 3 dys to 70%. Put gars in. Turned down to 65°. Unit went to 65 and stayed there for 6 wks moisture container 80% full. I slowly upped temp until it was 70% 70°. When humidity of cigars remained low jacked humidity up to 75% for 2 wks. Did not work. Then I thought I would try factory reccomendations 55%-65% humidity. Unit 67°. Then far humidity went up. Cigarmedics states far humidity is optimum at 60%-70%. I have found the cap is more influential than the foot reading.

I had 69% in my tupperdor during the winter, I just went to 65%, I might have to go to 62%. I am at that on my hygrometer but I’m having a minor burn issue with some of my sticks.

I am curiouse. What humidity level do you like your cigars at useing the Humidimeter? If below 62% I take two read8ngs at the foot one at the cap. Two at the cap if the foot is in the 40's. Cigarscis OK as long as the cap is high. The Cigars this ti e around seem to be tasting better leaving in the box. Before the humidity came down. Wit only one box.

Hi there, i’m over here in the UK, set up my Tuppidor just as you suggested...brilliant, stays at a constant 67 humidity. my question is, I have a Leather Cigar Case which holds 3 Robustos, if I take this with me for a few days, will they be ok? I think it maybe Ceder lined, so should I put a Boveda pack in with them? Thanks, really enjoy the Videos. 👍

If it has a tight seal you should be good. A Boveda pack is always a great idea to keep things stable through temp changes. Glad you’re enjoying the content 💪

I cannot believe my hygrometer read8ng 75% after jacking the humidity up from 70% could be 80% as the feet of my cigars read in the mid 50's. After 2 wks I brought it back down to 70%. No Bovedas 8n my unit 7nyilb2 months ago. 2 at the beg8nning of this month.

So is had 65 in my needone for winter in WV. My govee was reading 61-63%. I switched back to 69, seems like I’m having burn issues. Was concerned with them getting too dry at the govee reading…. Guessing I should’ve rode that out? What is your humidity readings with 62? Should’ve trusted the process I guess… and maybe I had temp too low , set on 66 degrees. Thoughts?
@sigmanado
@sigmanado 4 месяца назад
So, if you haven’t sealed off that drain hole in the bottom that’ll cause some serious humidity leaks. It should read close to your RH setup. My hygros read 61-63% with 62% Boveda. The reading drops every time I open and takes a long time to stabilize again. So I wouldn’t stress the readings so much and instead gauge how well/or worse they’re smoking for you over time.

I or8ginaly thought the first Boveda was defective because I got a reading of 65% 8n the Large Humidor Bag because some c8ga4s seemed too dry. Although the earlier Diesels were fine. My hygrometer at the time was at 70% in the NeedOne. Then the second Humi Care by Boveda read 64%. Not pos8ble to get two defective Bovedas. My c8gar read8ngs have ca7sed me to believe my hygrometer was accurate. We will see.

News for you. I have ac69% Beoveda pack I got Apr 22 that had got grainy. Put it on top of a Gurkha Master Select box on a shelf right above the droor. Put a Humi Carec69% pack above the Gurkha Class Regent box on the bottom shelf. This after filling the moisture container 35%-40% full. The grainy Boveda is fully and I mean fully recharged. I may have created the Pancake Free Boveda system. Now to see how long this can go on. Maybe see how long 2 pks las5 first. I believe my unit hygrometer may be read8ng 5 pts under. I put it in a Brick & Mortar humidor and it read 47%. I know that is impossible. Put pouch in container and it read 64%. Unit at 63%. Did saltvtest with analog hygrometer. It read 75% but digital read 64%. Recharged Boveda in plastic container with analog hygrometer reading 74%. Got Caliber IV on the way to resolve the mystery.
