I'd love the solution to be: Locking Sutekh near a black hole in chains and with canisters holding a forcefield in place.... then the 10th Doctor has his adventure in 2006
I really did enjoy this episode, but the convo about the breathing room is 100% spot on. Imagine if the whole Ruby's mum/VHS/ time window part was an episode on its own, with the ending being the reveal of the black entity around the TARDIS without the revalation of what that was. It would've been an interesting opportunity to see increased tension between Kate and the doctor after the death of her soldier. It feels like the sort of episode we mightve got in a longer run.
The shortened version of the Pyramids of Mars was the first story my brother and I recorded to keep - was that early 1976? Linking back to that period means this finale has a powerful significance for viewers who were teens or early twenties then, when Who was particularly popular with students - as discussed in Whose Dr Who? We had a Philips VCR. It cost £18 for a n hour tape in 1976 but we thought it was worth it! There were no vhs tapes of Who until about 1984!
This was maybe the best finale of Doctor Who since series 4 for me. Yes I'm more of a RTD era fan and so yes! This is my favourite since Stolen Earth/Journeys End!
Hey guys! Die-hard Moffat fanboy here. He’s my favorite writer, and showrunner. As excited as I was and as much as I adore Series 1-4, Smith was my first Doctor back in 2010 and then Capaldi is now “my” Doctor. As excited as I was to hear of RTD’s return, I had kinda wished it had been Moffat. And sure, I LOVED the 60th specials, but then this season started… and OH MY GOD. I’m so glad it was RTD, he’s really refined things this time around, and we even got a Moffat script under him (the DREAM). This season continues to blow me away. Moffat is my boy, but Russell might be turning me. And I really really REALLY hope Ncuti sticks around for a while.
The tension was paced so so well. So good. Here's to hoping Russel brings it home at the same energy level. If he keeps it, it's definitely one of my favorite finales of new who.
I don't think the season will end with sutekh been the shows full final episode. The only god they never mention was the god of time, Hecuba think its about to be a Christmas cliff-hanger.
All the start needed was ruby and the doctor discussing susan twists characters and then the tardis starts making the noises while they do and maybe going wrong in flight hence the landing
I agree with all the big points but my favourite line was the Dr looking at the super high tech time window and laughed saying how they had leashed it together
Classic villain, quality I'm old enough to remember the pyramids of mars the first time round (yes very old!) Even used Gabriel Woolf to voice him again!! 👏👏👏
Yeah, no actually. A, it's not back, it didn't go anywhere to be back, B, it didn't have enough breathing room, and C, 10 episodes is kinda cutting it close, 8 is nowhere near enough tbph. Russel's definitely lost it, Moff2 when?
all the episodes we were told to watch before the finale broke down (see if any of you sleuths can come up with theories) 1) Doctor is injured and has to recuperate with the help of UNIT 2) Daleks are revealed and rose basically takes over the time vortex from the tardis 3)is about "the great intelligence" 4) river song introduces amy pond as her child 5) Rubys episode
Honestly can't believe 14 wasn't even mentioned. Yeah, he's 'retired' and whatever else and knows 15 is out there, but you're telling me he just willingly sits by when this massive threat is on Earth? Especially with it being TARDIS centric
The 15 did ask Rose about him if I'm not mistaken. And, as much as it seems unlikely I think you are quite right since the 14th is literally there in the same timeline with this big visible threat to be surrounding earth. Thinking about it, it's a little too stupid not to think about the 14th that the finale might actually surprise us with him returning or getting involved off screen at least.
Brilliant episode. Perhaps the best reveal in the history of Who. Still hoping maybe Mrs. Flood will turn out to be Susan Foreman. Isn't Sean Pertwee supposed to be in the last episode?
Best reveal in the history of Dr Who? I don't think so maybe in NuWho. Classic Who had many moments. I was disappointed when Sutekh appeared my first thought was Goofy has let himself go 😂. I would of preferred if he remained unseen but that excellent creepy voice do all the work. Even Sutekh the destroyer cannot escape NuWho morals - Classic Sutekh would of turned every single person in the Unit Room to dust. NuWho Sutekh hugs the TARDIS and just chuckles to himself - seriously 😂

@@Mark-nh2hshowdid Classic who do reveals like this when they didn't really have prior inspiration or history to do it? If you have that much concern regarding splitting classic who and new who that much just to comment negatively-ish against someone's positive reaction/comment highly stressing on New who as something so bad, it has been a while and it's not so smart to keep lingering on something you have seemed to already isolated from what you liked and view it so differently almost literally showing you are not liking it. But the part where NewWho is regarded(by you in this case) so isolated from the classic who already suggest you should just leave it completely behind and be not here as if NewWho is recent and enjoy classic who. So that's it. Not that I find your comment inherently negative but we all are never perfect so your words seem a little but unfriendly but also uncalled for which may be completely unintentional, so just saying even just not directly for you but for anyone who is actually like that and can see this and comment
Ruby is Susan and used the thing to make her human and forget she’s a time lord like the doctor done in series 3 with the fob watch. The person who dropped ruby/susan off on Xmas eve is Susan but the original Susan so ostensibly she’s dropping herself off 🤷🏻♂️🙈😂 or something around the lines. Ruby’s mother will be the doctors daughter jenny who is now the kind woman regenerated from original jenny 🤷🏻♂️ either that or original Jenny will return. Just a guess
I think you are missing a key point. Between Rogue and this story, there most likely a couple of adventures in Between. That is why there were more faces of Susan twist that was shown.
I spent months assuming the obvious susan tech portmanteau was a red herring, bc I knew it would be a call back to the 3rd doctor not the 4th. Went down crazy rabbit holes assuming Omega.
note of caution. RTDs follow ups are never as good as the ones that preceeded them ie in the first rtd era he did tend to stuff alot in to the finales, questions were left hanging and nothing got resolved.
Turn left wasn’t the first episode of a two parter. You can enjoy it as one self contained story. The first of a two parter is by definition all setup and no resolution.
It didn't explain anything. It didn't explain anything about Ruby. It didn't explain why the Susan character was chosen by Sutek . How did Susan character keep having bad dreams and ending up in different places where the doctor is. It did even explain what was the Triad technology that was going to change the world. And how did Sutek get free . Nothing explained all buildup. The direction and the editing was a bit off didn't love it . Give it a 7 out of 10 there have been better Doctor who season finale and cliffhangers in the past season .
So we are supposed to scared of a Demon Donkey head? And that annoying thirteen year old working at UNIT was ridiculous. But on the plus side I don't think Cutie cried in this episode.

This garbage of a show is so bad even the cinemas couldn't get people into watch it for free even adding free food on top, even the cinema's in the states couldn't even get school kids to go. 🤣 When you are offering free cinema and free food and no one wants to go, you know you have a dead franchise on your hands.
Intense? Exciting? 20 mins of the entrance of Sutek who was a mass of CGI. Up to then it was not telling us anything about Ruby and the Doctor looking worried. As usual he did nothing. Gen Z kids seems so vacuous. They'd have had heart attacks if they watched The Stolen Earth, Midnight, Blink, Forest Of The Dead, etc
This was great! The build up and pacing was so perfectly done! It was fun and scary and emotional! It was probably one of the best finales they've ever made. Maybe better than the ones from series 1-4 which are my favourites.
I had high hopes for this story had some good moments but felt a little disappointed. The VHS and time locked problem could of seen the Doctor do something ingenious like classic Who create a device or even bend the laws of time to get the results he needed but no apparent Unit has all the technology required to do every job making the Doctor redundant - how convenient. When Sutekh appeared my first thought was "Wow Goofy has fallen on hard times" 😂. So Sutekh now has NuWho morals, in classic Who Sutekh would off obliterated everyone in that Unit room but no this is NuWho he just hangs out there hugging the TARDIS and chuckling to himself. I would of been more shocked if he killed everyone in the room - raising the stakes and the Doctor (especially with his darker side) to do the unthinkable to alter the situation. This story could of been so much darker, with the Doctor being unethical to get results and Sutekh could of stayed unseen just a disembodied voice and pure power. Susan Triad could of been that horned creepy looking thing who's working with Sutekh or another Orsian...Although I am curious how Sutekh survived and how will they resolve it I hope it's not NuWho super special companion trope again 😂 Was it me or did I see the Borg at one point lol.
you wanted kate,rose and mel to get killed by sutekh you full damn well they can't killed off these three specific characters who were all in the room ripe and ready to be killed by sutekh!
