Using magic to make her pretty was probably the best part of this. Cleopatra was described by all of her contemporaries as plain or even downright ugly, but she had a charming personality. It wasn't until like 100 years later that people started writing about how beautiful she was.

It was mostly manga pages, but also sketches, anime clips and bunch and bunch of information. I can't remember everything, but I'm betting that there was nothing about this particular foray into adult animation. At most, perhaps it was briefly mentioned. In any case, it was a truly fascinating museum visit. My dad and I actually went together, and though he knows nothing about manga, he was still quite interested (as he is in anything new). At the same time, the museum also hosted a general manga installation that explored the art style and larger phenomenon. Most interestingly, they also had some tea enthusiasts show a proper Japanese tea ceremony, in all its cruciating detail. I love that kind of crap!

The Thing about Cleopatra that i think most stories about her completley neglect or fail to mention, is that it is actually fairly well documented that she was an incredibly charismatic (not just beautiful) and very intelligent Woman. She enjoyed the most advanced education that Egypt could have offered to royalty at the time, and im pretty sure she ended up being able to speak about 10 different languages. Additionally, she probably also was one of Egypt's most beloved rulers. She wasnt just some Seductress that tempted these Roman Dictator's, but she was a genuinley charismatic and interesting person, so much so that people actually speculate that her description as the "most beautiful woman" might not even have been all that true, and instead she was just a genuinley charismatic, intelligent and interesting person, someone that simply captivated people not by her looks but through her personality.

This review reminded me of a project I did in high school for my Latin class, where I had to make a stop-motion LEGO animation of Caesar going to Egypt and meeting Cleopatra. It was pretty neat to do, although I’m bummed out about having deleted the video, considering that I had Caesarion (Caesar and Cleopatra’s son) a regular sized minifigure. So yeah, tldr: I made a stop-motion LEGO animation where Cleopatra gives birth to a grown man.

Tezuka really didn't filter himself when he wanted things his way, he was pretty much ahead of the curve in the Manga and Anime industry in so many ways. He also got to say what was on his mind as many of his works got really political with strong social commentary even in his more mainstream stuff like Astro Boy. Seriously, the way he written politics and social issues into his work would make even Spike Lee and Howard Chaykin blush.

Yes Egypt had lots of mixed cultures throughout its history like for example: Greeks, Romans and Arabs, but the Egyptian blood didn't mix and change that much and that's because for centuries we Egyptians had a golden tradition rule to marry our cousins, and that tradition is still present until now especially in Upper Egypt(from Assiut to Aswan), Although that tradition seems silly and bad from a scientific biological point of view, but that doesn't matter, silly or not we kept that tradition of marrying our cousins for centuries and that helped us to preserve our pure Egyptian blood not mixed as long as we could, and the result is what you see now and that is Modern Egyptians looks typical to their Ancient Egyptian Ancestors, just look at my skin color and Bassem Youssef's skin color we are almost the same although he is a Muslim who was born and lived in Cairo and I am a Coptic Christian who was born and lived in Luxor and there is almost a 1000 km distance between us, doesn't that tell you a thing or two about who Ancient Egyptians were and what they looked like? With all due respect for all the Black people and all the other ethnicities out there, but we Egyptians are special very special, WE ARE NOT Black or White or Yellow, Not Europeans or Africans or Asians, Not Assyrians or Persians or Israelites or Nubians or Greeks or Romans or Arabs or French or Italians or Germans or British or Turkish or Ukrainians, Not Middle Easterners or Caucasians or Mediterraneans or Levants or Amazigh or Berbers or even North Africans.
