As interesting as this is, and it truly is, my favorite part is Shogo's clear reverence for the objects he's seeing and touching. How much it all means to him makes watching this so much more enjoyable than it already is. I'm grateful to Shogo's master for allowing the team and all of us to see all of his equipment.

I remember my first "experience" with a noh mask, in the inyuyasha anime when I was a little kid. While almost simultaneously finding that my favorite musician wore a kabuki mask thus opening my interest in Japanese culture further than samurai and fantasy movies

I've always liked the Oni mask that looks like a grinning devil. I especially like the ones that are made with really sharp angles, like where the chin is almost triangular and the brows are very thin and sharp looking. I'd like to get one of those made from a really durable plastic, like polycarbonate or something that can take some damage. For use as a protective mask during airsoft games.

Everything down to the smallest detail has such importance and signifies soo much! I cannot help but be in awe of everything, the team must have felt like they were in a wonderful dream being so up close to the performance and sensei's costume~ Such a rare treat indeed, and I am very thankful for sharing and I would like to also pass on my thanks to sensei as well, for if it not for his kindness, I would have not known anything about the costumes 💕

Hello from London. I found your channel by chance and found it very intriguing and informative so I have subscribed. Have been interested in the Japanese culture for quite a while now and I do have a request if you would please. Recently I saw an anime called “Shigurui”, which really interested me. Having tracked down the manga and reading the whole story, I am now wondering if it has any base in history. I could not find any information on the subject and would like to ask if you could do some research and explain.

I know traditionally when you display a katana, the hilt is on the left to show that you mean no harm and trust your guests but what if I’m left handed? Would I still display the katana with the hilt on the left or would I flip it? Thanks

Konichi-wa Shogo-San. Not quite a Noh question but related to repairs of Noh masks. I have three Noh masks, all made from lacquer. One has a crack at the corner of the mouth. How can I repair this or whom may I contact in Japan to have it repaired? The mask of an elderly man with sprouting eyebrows and beard is missing one eyebrow. I need to replace it, any advice? And yes, I know that shipping is prohibitive in costs these days.
